hello! I'm new to the hellenic polytheist religion and I was wondering, how do I start prayers with my deity? I feel stuck because I'm not sure if I introduce myself and pray or just start talking to them casually? /gen I also love your blog!! its helped a lot and thank you!!!

When it comes to prayers, I'm sure everyone does it a little differently from each other. It all depends on what you're personally comfortable with.

Some people start their prayers with something called "epithets" which are basically surnames that follow a God's name and call on a specific aspect of that God. So, if you were praying to Hermes for cheering you up, for example, you might start your prayer with "Hermes Giver of Joy" or "Hermes Kharidotes".

Personally, I start my prayers like this: "Dear Lord Hermes, it's me, Kas," then I talk about whatever it is I'm wanting to talk about. Sometimes I use epithets, but most times I don't.

You can be as casual or as formal as you want with prayers; there's no need to put pressure on yourself to conform to any on style of praying. Play around a bit with it and see what feels right to you! Maybe even mention in your prayers that you're still getting used to prayer and figuring out what's comfortable, that way, if your prayer style changes, it won't catch your deities off guard.

There is also no one way to position yourself during prayer. Personally, I like to close my eyes and put my hands out in front of me, palm up. Oftentimes, it feels like my deities will grab and even hold my hands as I pray! But you don't have to pray this way, if it's uncomfortable. You can keep your hands together, raise them towards the sky, face then towards the ground (for chthonic deities), or even hold them up to your mouth - whatever feels comfortable! You also don't have to pray aloud, if you don't want to. I personally pray aloud when I can because it feels more direct, but I pray in my head, too.

Eat fruit and vegetables

Learn how to forage; picking safe berries, mushrooms, and the like (really do your research!!!)

Plant a garden; grow plants in your home/room

Support environmental or preservation organizations

Have a candle that reminds you of her (no altar needed)

Keep a picture of her in your wallet

Wear jewelry that reminds you of her

Honor the changing of the seasons; go outside to admire/respect the natural cycle of seasons

Pick up trash in your neighborhood or area

Visit a local forest or nature preserve; spend time there and explore

Observe wildlife in your area; bird-watching

Educate yourself on local flora and fauna

Have a snake or pig stuffed animal

Have imagery of flowers, fruit, or cornucopia

Learn how to cook or bake

Bake pastries for yourself or loved ones, especially ones containing fruits

Spend time/play with any pets you have

Make flower crowns

Pick flowers (not from someone else's garden!)

Purchase produce from local farmers

Support local food banks

Make a warm meal for someone in need

Try writing your own recipes; try old family recipes, if any

Learn about local invasive species, plants or otherwise; get rid of any invasive plants you see, if safe to do so

Educate yourself on poisonous plants in order to avoid them

Drink natural teas; make your own herbal tea bags

Ground yourself in nature

Take a hike or walk outside

Sit in a field, and bask in the sunlight (during summer or spring)

Feed neighborhood cats, dogs, or birds

Volunteer at animal or homeless shelters

Donate food; canned foods and well-packaged foods are extremely helpful

Be kind to yourself; take care of yourself physically

Eat three meals a day

Bury the pits or seeds of fruits and veggies you eat; give back to the earth c:

Men despise that women create life. That's why religions exist, they have a male god and male prophets and women supposedly exist to serve their needs and be property, our fathers, then husbands and later our son's. It's a patriarchal lie, it's not real, there is no punishment after passing for non-believers, just eternal death and possible peace.

Sex work is work, right? And men, they have needs! Sexual ones!

So why are men not LINING the blocks to have sex AND get paid for it at the same time? It's win-win! It's empowering, right!?!?Why do lonely incel men go to brothels to be sex-buyers and not prostitutes when they would get paid for it?!?

Deep down everybody knows why. Sex trafficking is not work, and it is not empowering, otherwise men would be absolutely shitting themselves silly to get a slice of it.

I find it so ironic when men make statements like ‘we fought the wars’, ‘we gave you rights’, ‘we invented the phone you’re using’ etc like.. so when it’s something you want to take credit for it’s fine to generalise men as a whole group but as soon as someone brings up rape, murder, assault etc and how men commit majority of those crimes it’s suddenly ‘not all men’ ? Right okay so now you’re individuals and can’t take credit for the entirety of your demographic?
