Okay but when Nina Zenik said "She wouldn’t wish love on anyone. It was the guest you welcomed and then couldn’t be rid of." and when Eros said "Thanatos and I. We are not so different. Except Death is sometimes kinder.” and when Jace Herondale said " To love is to destroy, and that to be loved is to be the one destroyed." and when Jason Grace said "Love was the most savage monster of all." and when Taylor Swift said "And I scream for whatever it's worth, 'I love you' ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?" and how the Song of Songs says “Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death.”
“Zoya, say something spiteful.”
“Why?” she asked faintly.
“Because I’m fairly certain I’m hallucinating, and in my dreams you’re much nicer.”
“You’re an idiot, Nikolai.”
“Not your best work.”
“I’m sorry I can’t deliver better wordplay right now. I seem to be paralyzed with fear.”
The trope where a character has lots of scars and is given the opportunity to heal them but while the healer is doing their thing the character looks at a particular scar and goes "No, not this one." because it reminds them of something they survived will ALWAYS, ALWAYS SERVE😭
“It’s you I love,” he says. “I spent much of my life guarding my heart. I guarded it so well that I could behave as though I didn’t have one at all. Even now, it is a shabby, worm-eaten, and scabrous thing. But it is yours.” He walks to the door to the royal chambers, as though to end the conversation. “You probably guessed as much,” he says. “But just in case you didn’t.”
~Cardan Greenbriar, The Queen of Nothing
“Senior year. And then life. Maybe that's the way it worked. High school was just a prologue to the real novel. Everybody got to write you -- but when you graduated, you got to write yourself. At graduation you got to collect your teacher's pens and your parents' pens and you got your own pen. And you could do all the writing. Yeah. Wouldn't that be sweet?”
― Benjamin Alire Sáenz, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
Thinking about how "No one is ever the villain of their own story" and "We are all someone's monster" are opposites but the same.

Every best friend character:
The bff is always the first shipper.
“Everyone finds different lessons in stories, I suppose, but here’s one: Having a heart is terrible, but you need one anyway. It doesn’t matter if the boy with the heart of stone was the villain. It doesn’t matter if he got what he deserved. No one’s heart has to remain stone.”
~Holly Black, Hthkoelths
“Whatever you had to do to survive, whatever you did from spite or rage or selfishness … I don’t give a damn. You’re here—and you’re perfect. You always were, and you always will be.”
I love Aedion and Aelin's relationship so much *chef's kiss*
He’s definitely not thinking about Henry.
He’s not thinking about Henry when he puts in twenty-three hours in his first week of work, or when he’s filling the rest of his hours with class and papers and going for long runs and drinking triple-shot coffees and poking around the Senate offices. He’s not thinking about Henry in the shower or at night, alone and wide awake in his bed.
Except for when he is. Which is always.
