I re-read Coyote by Allen Steele a couple years ago, and the bit in the opening suddenly came back to me. You know, the part where a right-wing political party took over the US, rewrote the Constitution to erase a century of social progress, rounded up all the black or brown people to either deport them or put them in heavily surveilled government housing if they had a "useful" job, and let a handful of billionaires take the final few swings of the axe to Earth's ecosystem on a vanity project of space colonization.
Sure is a good thing science fiction isn't and has never been political.

Just some wholesome calico jack and kwazii stuff from my human au.
Calico jack and Kwazii are both conspiracy theorists , they mainly just believe in relatively tame stuff about aliens and ghosts but calico jack has some more out there beliefs about the government.They often sit together and watch conspiracy theorie YouTube documentaries together.
Calico jack moved in with kwazii when he was found and gets very lonely when kwazii is away for long periods of time for work, but he always pretends that he likes having the house to himself , kwazii knows that it’s just an act cuz of how clingy and doting calico jack is when he gets home.
Sometimes when they fight (very rarely do they fight) kwazii threatens to put calico jack in a care home.
They watch blue planet together.
When Peso comes over for dinner calico jack always attempts to make a traditional chilean dish.
I am writing my Kwazii post info dump thing next so i thought i’d share some aspects of his relationship with calico jack, cuz I’m not really going to talk too much about the little things like that in a relationship 
i’ll probably do more posts like this with the different characters in the future

why are the octonauts so fun to draw??!!
I was just thinking about how the octopod has like zero privacy.You can see into everyone’s rooms from outside or just by standing almost anywhere in the octopod.The only one who has like semi privacy is Tweak and even then all you have to do is go down to the launch bay.
Like just look at this what pervert designed this it’s awful.
