To “orphan” a work means to remove all connections you’ve ever had with it. It’s no longer on your page, doesn’t have your name on it, you can’t comment as an author, you cannot edit or change anything about it, and you cannot claim it back ever (neither can anyone else). It’s just a fic that exists - and has nothing to do with you ever again.
