He hadn't even had one on the streets when he was so desperately lonely for anyone to offer him kindness. No, Jason hadn't had one until he became Robin— until he became magic. The best part of worldbuilding is making something that sucks. Magic schools with bullshit rules that don't work. Spaceships that are built stupid. My favourite thing to do is to make an inconvenient world that is full of stupid things for boring reasons, and then putting a character int here and making them live with that.

your kids should feel safe disagreeing with you. they should feel able to express a dissenting viewpoint knowing that their feelings will be heard & acknowledged. if your kids don’t tell you things, about their thoughts or actions, because they don’t feel safe–that’s on you. it’s not dishonesty, it’s self-preservation. you’ve taught them that honesty will get them punished.
