It was Valentine’s Day, and the air was thick with the scent of roses and overpriced chocolates. Couples strolled hand in hand down the city streets, hearts plastered on every storefront window. YN couldn’t help but smile at the festive atmosphere as they made their way to Bakugou Katsuki’s apartment, a small gift bag swinging at their side.

Most people wouldn’t peg Bakugou as the Valentine’s Day type. He was loud, brash, and had zero tolerance for anything remotely sappy. But YN had learned that, beneath the explosions and insults, there was a thoughtful, fiercely protective side to him that made their heart race.

Reaching his door, YN knocked twice before hearing heavy footsteps approach. The door swung open to reveal Bakugou, dressed in a black t-shirt and sweatpants, his usual scowl in place.

“You’re early,” he grunted, stepping aside to let them in.

“Happy Valentine’s Day to you too, Katsuki,” YN teased, placing a quick kiss on his cheek as they entered.

“Tch. Whatever,” he muttered, though the faint blush creeping up his neck didn’t go unnoticed.

YN set the gift bag on the coffee table. “I got you something.”

Bakugou’s eyes flicked to the bag, and he crossed his arms. “You didn’t have to get me crap for this stupid holiday.”

YN laughed. “I know. But I wanted to. And you better not complain because I know you got me something too.”

He stiffened, eyes narrowing. “How the hell did you—”

“You’re not as sneaky as you think, Katsuki. I saw the shopping bag you tried to hide last week.”

“Dammit,” he muttered, but there was a hint of a smirk tugging at his lips. “Fine. Wait here.”

He disappeared into his room, returning a moment later with a small, neatly wrapped box. He thrust it toward YN, avoiding their eyes.

“Here. Don’t make a big deal outta it.”

YN’s eyes sparkled as they carefully unwrapped the box. Inside was a silver bracelet with a simple but elegant design. Their breath hitched. “Katsuki, this is beautiful.”

He rubbed the back of his neck, clearly uncomfortable. “Yeah, well… you said your other one broke, so…”

YN’s chest swelled with warmth. “Thank you.” They slipped it on, admiring how perfectly it fit. “I love it.”

Bakugou’s gaze softened for a fleeting moment before he cleared his throat. “So, what’s in the bag?”

“Open it and see.”

He pulled out a sleek black box and lifted the lid, revealing a set of high-quality cooking knives. His eyes widened in surprise.

“These are…”

“Professional-grade knives,” YN grinned. “I know you’ve been complaining about your old ones getting dull.”

A rare, genuine smile curved Bakugou’s lips. “Damn right I was. These are perfect.”

YN beamed. “I’m glad you like them.”

Bakugou set the knives down and pulled YN into a rough but heartfelt hug. “Thanks, dumbass.”

YN laughed against his chest. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Katsuki.”

He pressed a quick kiss to their temple, his voice low and gruff. “Yeah, yeah. Happy Valentine’s or whatever.”

And though Bakugou would never admit it out loud, this was the best Valentine’s Day he’d ever had.

He’s always nearby, shadowing your steps, ready to intervene at the first sign of trouble. If you’re a civilian, it’s even worse. He declines long missions after you start dating, assigning someone he trusts (poor Tanjiro) to watch over you when he can’t. Heaven help them if they slip up and something happens to you on their watch, Giyuu will put them through weeks of grueling training as punishment.

Boyfriend Giyuu who does all this because he physically cannot bear the thought of losing someone he loves again. If he’s let you into his life, you’ve become his priority, and he’ll do whatever it takes to ensure you’re safe.

Boyfriend Giyuu who pretends not to care about your affection but gets so grumpy the moment you forget his daily good morning or welcome-back kiss. “So… you’ve decided you don’t love me anymore.” His tone is deadpan, but the slight pout at the corner of his lips gives him away “What?!”

Boyfriend Giyuu who bats your hand away any time you try to initiate PDA. But later that evening, he’s wrapped around you like a koala, his face buried in your tummy, arms locked tightly around you. His silent glare dares you to complain about his hypocrisy.

Boyfriend Giyuu who secretly loves when you leave little trinkets or items at his place. His once barren apartment slowly starts looking homier, softer, little touches of you filling the empty space. (Seriously, did you see how empty his house was in that one episode? get some furniture damn #psycho. At least we know where Kim K got her inspiration from)

Boyfriend Giyuu who completely suffocates you in his sleep. He wraps his limbs around you so tightly, practically lying on top of you, like a human blanket. You like to tease him that his subconscious is just making up for all the affection he represses during the day.

Boyfriend Giyuu who is surprisingly tender despite his cold, aloof exterior. Gentle touches, small but thoughtful gifts, and quiet acts of service speak volumes about how much he loves you, even when he doesn’t say it out loud.

Boyfriend Giyuu who loves you more than words can express. And even if he doesn’t always know how to show it, he hopes you feel it in the way he holds you, protects you, and stays by your side.

synopsis: yapper reader x listener katsuki. in which you finally get to see katsuki!

notes: grumpy x sunshine also. basically just yap yap yap reader and bro stfu katsuki. based on some prompt i remember seeing forever ago. deviating from my usual 'reader and katsuki childhood friends go to ua tg' bc this is such a cute idea

the field is buzzing, students from different hero schools gathering in small groups and instructors calling out over the noise generating quite the racket. there’s tension, excitement, and a bit of rivalry in the air. class 1-a stands off to the side, eyes scanning the new arrivals. bakugo stands isolated from the group with his arms crossed, mouth already in a deep scowl.

he hates group exercises. hates surprise training simulations. hates-

“katsuki!!”

and then it happens.

a blur comes flying in from the other side of the field. he hears it before he sees it, and by the time he turns his head, it’s too late. you launch yourself at him from behind, tackling him in a full-body hug that actually makes him take a step forward. his body tenses immediately, hands twitching instinctively like he might throw you off-

but he doesn’t. he would never.

“kats! kats!” you giggle, climbing halfway up his back like he’s your personal jungle gym. you hook your chin over his shoulder, big goofy grin stretching across your face as you hug him tight. “hi!!”

there’s a long pause. bakugo doesn’t move. doesn’t shout. doesn’t blow anything up. the whole world stills in suspense.

eventually, he sighs, a hint of a not-angry expression present on his face. "hi."

“uh… are we… seeing this?” kirishima says under his breath, eyes wide.

“kats, i swear, it feels like it’s been forever since i’ve seen you! i mean, seriously, how is it that we’re both doing this hero thing and still barely getting any time to hang out? it’s like the universe just hates us or something. i’ve been stuck in this crazy hellfire intensity training like all week, and it’s not even the fun kind, it’s just endless drills and lectures and like ugh ohmygod, i’m so over it. anyway, i missed you kats!! how are you? healthy? well? making friends? wait, who am i kidding. youre definitely healthy because youre like a health-conscious old man, and definitely no friends."

you’re talking so fast he doesn’t have time to respond to anything. he just stares down at you, not saying a word or moving an inch.

eventually, he reaches out, drops a heavy hand onto your head, and mutters, “shut up.”

you beam like he just handed you flowers. “there he is,” you giggle, grabbing his arm and hugging it to your chest. “so grumpy. so cute. i miiiissed you!”

he grumbles something pissy under his breath, but makes no move to pull away.

aizawa’s voice cuts through the air. “pair off.”

despite you already hanging on him, bakugo grabs you immediately. “we’re teaming up.”

“wait, what?” mina says from behind him. “you’re not gonna work with us?”

“we’re teaming up,” he snaps again, louder this time, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world.

“but you always-”

“shut up. all of you. shut. the fuck. up.”

you’re already bouncing beside him, eyes bright. “oh my god, kats, i have so many ideas. okay, okay—what if you blow a hole in the wall and you know how i texted you last week about that new feature on my costume? i could use that to- wait! or we could climb over the roof and-”

“you talk too much,” he mutters, dragging you along gently despite his annoyed expression.

“you love it,” you sing, completely unbothered.

he doesn’t answer.

but the tiniest corner of his mouth tugs up.

some of you act so entitled, and idk if you've noticed but you're literally making writers miserable. it makes me so sad to see my mutuals deactivate because the joy of writing has been taken away from them by ungrateful readers who are constantly demanding more, more, more, to the point where people are experiencing burnout and anxiety because they can't keep up with the constant unrealistic demands.

reminder that even though it takes you five minutes to read 1k words it might've taken the writer hours to get the words down, proofread, edit, and make the perfect fic layout.

some of you complain that there are no "good" fics anymore, yet you do nothing for the fandom, do nothing to support writers and just hide behind anon and blank blogs, complaining about every little thing till you've driven all writers off this site.

it's so tiring. please be kinder. we're all trying our best here.

As time passed, both of you realized that this was more than just a friendship. He always wanted to have you in his arms, whether it was a playful piggyback ride or carrying you with a more protective grip. It was as if he was afraid of you breaking like glass or leaving him. He became strongly attached to you, and it was difficult for him to be apart from you. But the same goes for you because, after all, you are the perfect match.
