no tv show will ever be able to resolve a m/m/f love triangle as perfectly and as weirdly as Hannibal, in which the woman kisses one of the guys, sleeps with the other one, then decides "actually, never mind, you're both awful!" and marries a rich lesbian instead - and, while this is all going on, the guys develop a weird homoerotic obsession with each other culminating in them going off a cliff together. truly unhinged and unmatched
đ Regular reminder that while Hozier has amazing love songs, he is ALSO very outspoken about his leftist politics, specifically anti-fascism, anti-racism, reproductive rights, Palestinian rights and more.
Take Me To Church and Foreignerâs God are scathing critiques of organized religion, specifically the Catholic Church and the colonization of Ireland.
Momentâs Silence is about oral sex but itâs ALSO about how that specific sexual act is often distorted to a show of power rather than that of love.
Nina Cried Power is an homage to various (mostly Black) civil rights activists from the US and Ireland and a call to follow their path.
Be criticizes anti-migrant policies and Trump and his ilk.
Jackboot Jump is about the global wave of fascism and about protest and resistance.
Swan Upon Leda is about reproductive rights and the violent colonial oppression of Ireland and Palestine.
Eat Your Young is about the ruinous way the 1%/capitalism and arms dealers prioritize short-term profit over everything else to the detriment of the youth/99%
Butchered Tongue is about Irish and other indigenous languages being suppressed and erased by imperial powers.
If any of the above surprised you, please, please delve deeper into Hozierâs music, youâre missing such an important part of his work.
Anything strange and odd about me can be attributed to my early childhood snack of road salt and moss
Hello Tumblr friends, apropos of nothing, I have a book recommendation for you.
First person narration that Does Something Cool With It
Urban fantasy that really leans into the urban aspect. The mundane beauty of the city made magical
London Man Investigates His Own Murder While Committing Several More Murders, more at 8
A protagonist who is just an absolute wet pathetic paper bag of a man and knows it
A protagonist(s) who are the exuberant and unhinged personification of telecommunications technology with an unparalleled zest for life and also sometimes murder
Both of those characters are technically the same person
The most breathtakingly gorgeous prose that has ever been used to describe a magically animated pile of garbage
A tone that I feel can reasonably be described as âgritty,â with its refusal to shy away from the blood and grime of reality, but that is also suffused with a deep unflinching love for everything that humanity is
A supporting cast that includes many of the worldâs weirdest and most badass women
The protagonist getting beat up and/or stabbed and/or shot and almost dying at least twice per book
A reading experience not quite like any you have seen before or since
If you love the city of London, you will love this book. If you have never been to the city of London, this book will show you what it looks like through the eyes of someone who loves it.
(And also what it looks like when embodied as a giant dragon made of street signs.)
I cannot emphasize enough the gorgeousness of this prose, the geniusness of the urban magic system, and the amount of love for London and for humanity that oozes out of this book. I am also fully convinced that Matthew Swift would be a tumblr blorbo if his books were not mostly out of print and very niche.
It can be a bit hard to get your hands on a physical copyâtry thriftbooks or another online used bookseller, or call your friendly neighborhood bookstore and see if they can order it for you. Or just go for an ebook (maybe your library has it on Libby). It is absolutely worth the trouble.
Brief content note while I have you here: There is a fair amount of violence and it is sometimes very lovingly described. Also...donât get too attached to side characters.
Go read it and then join the approximately 3 people on tumblr who know this book exists and are obsessed with it!!
The way Lisa frankensteinâs director made these characters ARE SO GOOOOOD. So the movie seems like a very stereotypical chick flick romance movie, girl falls in love with a boy and they help eachother evolve. In that way it is, however the portrayal of other characters are completely different in the best way possible. In all the other romance movies with the main character being the loner, the family and popular kids are always portrayed as really awful people who donât care abt anyone but themselves, however not Lisa Frankenstein!! Lisa has 3 family members: Her dad, step mom, and step sister. Her step mom is genuinely a bitch but in a really realistic way. Her step sister is super popular, super pretty, goes to parties, is a cheerleader, has half the boys at school wrapped around her fingers, and is a mommy and daddyâs girl. In every way the movie set her up for being demonized BUT THEY DIDNT. She was genuinely so nice and had a really sisterly bond with Lisa. She made Lisa feel welcomed and safe and was always there for her. and Lisa genuinely loved her as well. Even when they had a fight, Lisa still protected her. Taffy (athe step sister) was constantly shown as a good friend and the only person Lisa could rely on. When at school, Lisa has virtually no friends while Taffy is friends with a bunch of cheerleaders. Yet again, the movie had every chance to demonize the cheerleaders BUT THEY DIDNT!! This movie was absolutely amazing at portraying realistic people in an unrealistic setting. A lot of teen movies donât accurately portray Teenagers but this movie did. I loved Taffy so much sheâs such a sweetheart
Iâm going insane THANK YOUUUU
commission i got from @spiders-and-worms for 20 dolla

Nico in a modern world setting would be a streamer called 'Ghost King'.
Specifically, a horror game streamer. That would be like his main thing. He's that streamer who plays horror games but rarely gets jumpscared. He's the type to make sarcastic comments and critic on game design while being chased down by a ghost.
He rarely plays multiplayer games, but when he does, his streams are so fun and chaotic because he would lose his cool while playing with his friends who, especially in a game setting, he consider as idiots.
Imagine him playing Phasmophobia, Forewarned or Demonologist and just getting invested with trying to figure out the type of ghost/spirit/evil while the other three players are running around, unintentionally provoking the ghost/spirit/evil as they scream into the background. They'll be wondering why Nico isn't responding to them and jump into his stream, only to find out that Nico have them on mute.
Imagine him playing Among Us. He would be a ruthless killer.
