I can't stop thinking of a Death Note AU, where Near is an exchange student and travels overseas during the summer to stay in a small town in the countryside. He barely understands the language and has to rely on a local blonde-haired man (Mello) to communicate with him and show him around the place.
They spend the summer going from strangers to friends, to eventual lovers.

If it didn’t before it does now. This is how I see it going:
Light and Sayu are not just close siblings, they are best friends.
Sayu adores her brother, she is his number one fan and will cheer him on no matter what. He is someone she would never have to worry about bothering because she knows she can come to him for anything. She can’t find it in herself to be jealous of her older brother for being smarter than her when he’s the one person who sees her as anything special.
Light adores his sister, but more than that, she is someone he can open up to. She is someone that he trusts enough and is comfortable enough with to show the parts of himself that he doesn’t let anybody else see, and know that she wouldn’t think any less of him for it.
So when he finds the death note and is struck by the realisation that he killed two people, he immediately goes to Sayu. She is there for him as he spirals into feeling like he has to use the notebook to get rid of all evil. She comforts him and sympathises with him, she knows her brother and why he feels like he has to twist the narrative. But she also talks him out of it.
Her brother is the best person in the world in her eyes, but unlike everyone else seems to, she knows he isn’t perfect and it’s her job to talk him out of crazy ideas that wouldn’t lead to anything good.

Hi Neil, I apologise in advance if this doesn't remotely make sense since I've had a few glasses of wine but I am Sad (big S). My best friend (who precedes me by 35 years) is dying, and is in a hospice as of today. I grew up without a dad but he's given me the chance to know what it's like to have one. I've told him as such, but I'm afraid of all the grief I'll feel once he's gone. All that love that I won't be able to put anywhere, what do I do with it??? I love him so much, and I'm putting on my bravest face for him, but I'm so scared.
Love (like all energy) cannot be destroyed. It simply changes into a different kind of love. Grief is real and love is real and missing people is real and none of your love for your friend will ever be wasted.
Death Note AU where L gets hit really hard on the head just before the Yotsuba Arc, gets amnesia, and has to effectively bullshit his way through the whole thing not telling anyone he doesn't remember anything that happened recently
Biblically accurate kira
Death note au based on that one tumblr post about a necromancer who brings back a serial killer’s victims where L discovers that Matsuda is a necromancer and has him bring back some of Kira’s victims just to see Light freak out.
Included in the people brought back is Naomi Misora. She confirms that Light is Kira but they can’t just say they brought her back to life, so she joins the task force and pretends she never died in order to get more concrete evidence on Light. Light is freaking out and trying to figure out a way to convince everyone that she’s a fake because he knows she has to be a fake, but he can’t explain why without admitting that he was the one that killed her.
This probably culminates in Light having Rem kill Watari and L, and Matsuda bringing them back the next day, which shatters the last piece of sanity Light had.
the urge to redesign ryuk to be like a massive monster from the depths of hell is so constant bc like could u imagine how much funnier death note would be if it was abt a teenager in his room plotting murder while his massive multi eyed sharp toothed unnaturally angled limbed hellspawn just went “hey light do u wanna play mariokart”

I like the idea of Zim and Tak coming to Earth earlier and being forced to work together despite hating it.
I see it could be like a training process and punishment for both of them. Brains sees great potential in Zim and Tak, but their continuous fights cause a lot of destruction. That's why they get sent to an unimportant planet to invade before DOOM 1 starts to check if they can manage the given task or die. Either way, it's a win-win for Armada.
