TAXMAN 2022 MIX SOUNDS SO GOOD YOU GUYS

No specific order, these are my favorites

Guilty As Sin?- the end of the bridge where it’s just this beautiful chorus of Taylors singing in harmony, kinda like in Don’t Blame Me but like this beautiful dreamy version of it, and the long drum fill before perfectly jumping back into the original rhythm? Literally makes the whole song

So High School- this is a rock song, this is something that if I heard sung by a young Paul McCartney, I’d believe was a Beatles song. Incredibly clever lyrics and such a fun, happy song

But Daddy I Love Him- The parellels to Love Story are so incredible, and with one of the catchiest choruses she’s ever written! Also love the lyricism in this one sooo much, the epitome of girlish and yet badass at the same time

Peter- the first one I attempted to play on piano and sing just to feel that chorus in my chest, I’ve never experienced the relationship between Taylor and this muse but I can still feel the yearning in that chorus’ melody

Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me?- this was actually the first one that made me cry (I was stoned of my rockers for the first listen, it was celebratory) I couldn’t believe how transparent and real she was being, and it was so sad to think that she feels like a monster because that’s how people have made her feel. It’s such a great song

I Can Do It With A Broken Heart- once again the transparency, I’ve never experienced another modern artist who was so deeply telling about their personal and intimate experiences. It is the most fun song on the album and the lyrics are so hilariously delivered. It’s like Bejewled (Taylor’s Version)

The Black Dog- I love the premise of the song, what a great thing to write about! Incredible lyrics, I love how she can just make normal conversation fee so natural in a melody. She just took a single thought she had, “how do you not miss me in the black dog?” And then sang it to the first chord she played, and made it a chorus, and THEN tells a whole imaginary story of what she sees when she puts herself in the scenario as a bystander. “When someone plays the starting line, and you jump up, but she’s too young to know this song” it’s just a whole train of thought set to a melody, and the end of the chorus is equally significant, closing the thought out so we’ll “old habits die screaming” there is so much volume in that statement. Easily a masterpiece

Those are my favorites and a few words about them sorry there are 2 extras!

I think everyone is misinterpreting Anti-Hero

“It’s me, hi, I’m the problem it’s me” is SARCASM

I think this song is about the fact that entertainment industries constantly preach positivity of the body or being yourself, but they never actually put it into practice. So people within the industry still feel the negative effects while everyone on the outside is convinced that body positivity and authentic personalities are being advocated for. The Anti-Hero is the industry.

It must be exhausting always rooting for the ANTI-HERO

Taylor ISN’T actually the problem. How a person’s body is isn’t an issue, how people live or live isn’t an issue, and the industry will pretend it isn’t an issue, but they still won’t allow these things to be showcased.

The industry is body positive, but most entertainers still have major body issues. The industry supports lgbtq people, until one of their artists is a queer person. Then it’s put under the radar and hidden.

I could probably go deeper into this but there’s my Ted talk

Doing something bad and doing something illegal aren’t always the same

Some real bad shit is legal. A lot of illegal shit isn’t necessarily bad. It’s all control

Smiling in photos is artsy. You can smile in your photos, you don’t have to look constipated to be an artist
