I want to address the white people who say nothing about being “part Indian” until you’re defending the racism and/or appropriation of your friends or fandom:

Fuck you.

"I can't sleep. I feel like I should do something productive, but what?" *looks around at clothes-strewn room* "What could I possibly do in the wee hours?" *Walks past exercise gear to put another plate on the pile* "My only option is to fuck around on the computer."

Bilbo: wait I get it now. The dragon is a metaphor for greed and power. We need to ‘defeat’ it by being humble when we get the treasure.

Thorin: Bilbo, for the last time, it’s a real dragon and it has my gold

Change ≠ Failure

When a couple or polycule decides to be friends, we call it a “failed relationship,” yet when friends decide they want a romantic relationship, we don’t call it a “failed friendship.” Because outside of the overly-regulated are of romantic relationships, we understand that the presence of a status quo is not success.

TW: Suicide -

-

-

- After a boy cut his arms and told a staff member he wanted to die, the staff member allowed him to shower unsupervised for forty minutes, without reporting his wounds or suicidal thoughts to anyone else. This staffer later said they "don't like" to read patients' backgrounds, and had not done so with this boy. This is why we need to take mental health seriously. It's not about being a coward or giving up- even when we fight it and seek medical attention, our condition is brushed off.

The Anti-Gluten-Free Trend is Laden with the Same Ignorance It Mocks.

https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/getting-out-the-gluten • Until recently, celiac was UNDER-diagnosed. • With greater awareness the trend has caused, people with symptoms have reached out to their doctors, and tested positive. • Many such "on-trend" people found out their IBS was misdiagnosed, to the point that it is now required to rule out celiac before diagnosing IBS. • You can have a gluten-intolerance without celiac. Much in the same way that many people are not allergic to milk, but have lactose-intolerance, and we don't smugly ask "do you have a milk allergy" if they order substitutions, and then dismiss them as stupidly following a trend if they don't SPECIFICALLY have a milk allergy. • When people notice they have digestive issues common of lactose-intolerance, we don't judge them for self-diagnosing a lactose issue, but if someone experiences a similar situation with wheat, we stand ready to mock them, behind their back or otherwise.

"I'm a woman." "But gender isn't real!" "Well, my label, identity, and peoples' reactions to my physical attributes which they also label "woman" really affect me, but that's cool bro."
