You Break my Spell, I’ll Break Yours~
hot take: ‘chivalry’ is fine as long as it’s adapted to 21st century values. if you are a male, you SHOULD be aware that your female friends face certain issues that you as a male dont. acting on that awareness in a way that keeps your female friends safe, isn’t a bad thing.
like… opening doors isn’t rly chivalrous when it’s just a thing you ought to do for everyone. but real 21st century chivalry might be, like, standing between your female friend and the guy that’s trying to get her drunk, or offering to walk her home when it’s late.
if the ‘chivalry’ inconveniences everyone involved and you’re just doing it for your over-inflated male ego — ie, “no you’re the girl here, you HAVE to let me hold this door for you and do all these things for you even when you can do it yourself and im just slowing you down” — then it’s just outdated misogyny.
Honeybear headcanon/fic idea, when Rhodes left for his first deployment, Tony was very lonely and missing him and couldn't do anything cause don't ask don't tell (fucKING patriarchy), so in kinda stupid move Tony goes to get a tattoo in honor, and actually the artist adopts him cause he's so smol and nervous and genuine. Well when Rhodes discovers it, he's very honored and repays Tony ;) so it becomes a thing for Tony to get a tattoo on his thighs for each deployment
I changed some things a little bit, but I love this prompt. Tony+tattoos is my weakness.
(note: all those numbers are random lol)

When Rhodey graduated and was assigned to the Aviano air base in Italy, Tony was happy that at least Rhodey would be able to live abroad like how he always wanted. He was also glad that Rhodey would be in Italy, the best place in the world as far as Tony’s concerned, and a country where he knew the language, and Tony would be able to drag Rhodey to all his favorite places when he went to visit him.
After seeing Rhodey off at the airport, Tony went to the tattoo parlor two blocks away from his apartment that he always walked past on the way to school. He walked in and got a tattoo on his left thigh, right below his hipbone – 617, the number of the room Tony and Rhodey shared when they were freshmen.
(A year later, Tony went to visit Rhodey and they drove to the Carbonell family’s villa in Venice to celebrate Tony’s 18th birthday over an extended weekend. Rhodey saw the tattoo for the first time when they were lounging by the pool. Tony ended up getting the best present he could have ever asked for that year.)
After four years in Italy, after Tony took over the company and moved to California, Rhodey requested a location transfer and packed his bags for Los Angeles. Tony welcomed him home and showed off his new tattoo, inked right under the first one – 530, May 30th, the day Tony and Rhodey finally got together that summer in Venice.
The great thing about the Air Force was that they didn’t deploy their men too frequently, so Tony and Rhodey were always able to spend time together. But it was inevitable that Rhodey would eventually be assigned off-base for a few months for special duties, so when Rhodey was sent off for his first deployment since moving to LA, Tony went and got his third tattoo – 138, the last three digits of Rhodey’s serial number.
It became a tradition. Whenever he and Rhodey were apart for long stretches of time, Tony would go out and get another tattoo.
518, the day they flew back to Massachusetts to get married715, the flight Rhodey took from Venice to Boston to surprise Tony for Thanksgiving502, the day Tony escaped the Ten Rings and Rhodey found him in the desert101, the number of flowers in the bouquet Rhodey got Tony for their first wedding anniversary
The list goes on.
All the tattoos were numerical, each one a representation of a significant event in their relationship.
There was only one exception. A single J marked on Tony’s shoulder blade, complementing the T that Rhodey has inked on his.

There is no such thing as an ‘alpha’ in a wolf pack. An early study that coined the term 'alpha wolf’ had only observed unrelated adult wolves living in captivity. In the wild, wolf packs operate more like human families: there’s no defined sense of rank, parents are in charge until kids grow up and start their own families, younger wolves don’t overthrow the 'alpha’ to become the new leader, and social dominance fights are situational. remember that time in the Manga when Roy was told to lay low bc Scar was trying to kill state alchemist and instead Mustang was like “oh no my sons.” and ran straight at Scar instead of trying to stay alive by laying los
How could I forget it’s my absolute most favorite scene in anything ever. You want to know why?
Roy Mustang is a very calculated man. Very calculated. I know we all like to pretend that he’s an idiot, and sure, sometimes he is. Sometimes he’s an absolute moron, but he’s not about to throw his life away just to prove a point. He called all attention to himself, okay? He knew that it was raining; it’s his biggest weakness and Roy Mustang does not do weaknesses that he can’t combat. He was perfectly aware that it was raining and he knew what he was doing. He knew what he was doing from the second that he stepped into that car at Eastern Command.
So, he called attention to himself. He shot a bullet into the air and took all attention away from Ed, even though Edward was currently at Scar’s feet and about to die. He handed his gun to Hawkeye (who hopefully knew what he was up to or at least had a clue) and made himself vulnerable. He didn’t have faith in his abilities; he knew it wouldn’t work. He made himself an easy target. Because now, Ed is forgotten about. Ed is at Scar’s feet but completely forgotten. Roy hasn’t just made himself a target, either. He is the target. This man has been running around killing State Alchemists, saying it was against his god, so he made it clear who exactly he was and why exactly Scar should be targetting him.
And it works!
After all, whether they knew who Scar was or not, they knew that he was punishing State Alchemists for their acts against his god. Ed is not as big a ‘sinner’ as Roy is. And Scar, an Ishvalan who dealt personally with State Alchemists and who knows that Roy was one of the worst of the bunch, shifts all of his attention from Ed to Roy. Now, Ed is safe. And now Riza, who is better than Roy is with guns, has two of them and a drive to protect. Putting himself in danger like that was the only way to ensure that they all got out of there safely.
tl;dr Roy Mustang absolutely knew what he was doing; he purposefully put himself in danger to ensure his sons’ safety, while keeping his foolish young upstart facade perfectly in tact.

Roy: Hair is food
Maes: Anything is food if you don't care about survival
