After listening to several minutes of instruments, I really like the idea of Scott being either a cello or a harp, and Jimmy being a viola or piano, someone who’s better at music please figure this out instead of me

I was listening to the SU ost out of happenstance (it’s all bangers) and I remembered that each gem has her own unique instrument/specific musical cue, probably so they can be incorporated into a fusions theme without using a leitmotif, which don’t stack together at the same time the way instruments do.

Garnet has her buzzing synths. Amethyst has her drumline and vocal “hey” callout (you’ll hear it if you relisten). Pearl and lapis both have piano, but with Pearl in major key and lapis in minor (I think, idk music stuff this is why I’m asking y’all). Even jasper exclusively has cymbal crashes in her themes.

So basically, everyone give me ya thoughts for the gemcyt character’s instruments/cues.

my irl friends have become tired of my ramblings (maybe i can’t tell) so it’s time to shine a light on (most of) my beloved moots.

@yum3mite - ena!! one of the first tumblrs i found getting into JRWI, and probably the biggest motive for me to listen to bitb. tons of cool reblogs and liveblogs (reading the riptide liveblogs as i caught up was the best). overall great time

@saltedcaramelchaos - a tumblr with a perfect blend of most of my biggest interests (JRWI, TMA, the mechanisms) the pd x tma fic is currently my main motivator for finishing pd, and i’m constantly thinking of the jrwi mechs au (i have art ideas)

@piratestent - an amazing ao3 writer (how i initially found them) whose fics are filled with pain (in the best way) also they’re running the hottest jrwi character bracket which is the thing ever!!

@flesh-eating-squeegee - i genuinely have no memory how i found this tumblr, but im glad i did because the reblogs are always peak, and the new posts are even better. 10/10 tumblr creature

@chirphq - the most beautifully insane jrwi account i have found. the vibes are always immaculate, the angst is always sad, and i especially have fallen in love with the jrwi fake quotes

@pheasant-lvr - another account that blends my loves (jrwi and starkid this time). i’m always excited to see his posts on my dash, and i’m slowly more convinced to listen to the suckening every time i see the account name

all i currently have motivation to write, will be back to finish the compliment list for my other lovely moots soon (also sorry for the @ anyone mentioned here)

Alright, I think I like tumblr now.

A pun post crossed my dash, and I reblogged it with an equally bad pun in return. A couple of my followers find it funny, it's a good day for everyone.

That was on July 7th.

Virality on Reddit was entirely algorithmic. You could garner a couple crossposts, but the success of a post was entirely dependent on whether or not it hit r/all--the main page of Reddit. If your post does that, it's immediately exposed to 10x the number of people and immediately gets upvoted.

On my pun post, I get a couple reblogs. And those reblogs get a couple reblogs--nobody really adds any content to the post, it just gets a couple reblogs here and there.

There's a specific chain of reblogs that I'd like to focus on. The most popular post on this chain has about 25 reblogs on it. Half the posts have three reblogs or fewer. Five posts in this chain have just one reblog total.

But the reblog chain keeps going. And going. It breaches containment many times over. And finally, after a chain THIRTY SIX posts long, at 9:30 AM, July 22nd this morning, it hits a popular account.

99% percent of the people who have seen the post--virtually unchanged from how it left my dash--have seen it because it was curated by 36 different people. That's insane to me.

None of those 36 people know that they're part of this chain. They saw a post, reblogged it, and moved on. If any one of these people had not reblogged, the post would have a fraction of the impact it has.

And yet, after two weeks, the post has effectively hit the main page of tumblr. It was picked up, only because people liked it enough to show it to their followers. There were no algorithms necessary.

You really, truly, cannot get this on any other website.

i listened to about 15 too many episodes of the magnus archive today and now i’m scared of turning off my lights to go to sleep???
