sae-byeok and your apartment was quiet. too quiet. it wasn't the normal comforting, peaceful, quiet, no. it was an eerie, haunting silence. you were seated on the couch, holding a mug of coffee, but not drinking. sae-byeok had been gone for 3 days. no goodbye, no texts or calls, she had just disappeared. 

“unnie…?”

cheol’s little voice cut through silence as he walks into the lounge room. your eyes drift over to the little boy, his timid face tear stained and his eyes slightly puffy.

“d-do you know where sae-byeok is…?”

he looks up with hopeful eyes, though his voice cracks as he says her name, and your heart breaks at the sight of him; a scared little boy who just wants his sister to come home. he slowly walks towards you, his sock clad feet padding on the wooden floor. when you shake your head sadly at him, tears well up in his big brown eyes.

“i’m sorry cheol…i wish i knew.”

he nods sadly, glancing down at his feet and fidgeting with his hands. then, he looks up at you with a sniffle.

“c-can i have a hug…? i…i miss sae’s hugs…”

he asks, his bottom lip quivering as a single tear rolls down his cheek. you knew you had to be strong for him, and make sure he was okay, even if you weren’t.

“of course, cheol, you don’t need to ask for a hug”

your voice is soft and gentle as you place the mug of now cold coffee on the table, and he crawls onto the couch with you, and scooches closer to you. although it’s a little awkward at first, he swiftly gets comfortable and leans on your chest, shutting his eyes as more tears fall.

“t-thank you, y/n…”

your heart fills with an urge to protect and look after this fragile little boy, knowing it’s your duty as sae-byeoks girlfriend. and until you know where she is, your all cheol has.

has anyone ever talked about the fact that the first time we see sae-byeok she’s carrying an iced coffee?

this girl is literally barely surviving, committing crimes on the daily, probably only one step ahead of deok-su and his gang since she ditched them and they want payback, and she still found time and money to buy herself a little treat

and I LOVE that for her. so much. I hope she got a little cookie or something with it too

i just know ji-yeong loves loves loves reading those bad cheesy jokes that they put on popsicle sticks/candy wrappers/etc to sae-byeok

-sae byeok lets loose more when shes really tired

-ji yeong loves to cuddle and be the big spoon even though shes smaller

-sae byeok likes to see ji yeong sleeping because she looks so at peace

-they enjoy the warmth of sharing a bed together, but they always make sure each other has space and is comfortable if they ever want to stop cuddling

-ji yeong kicks sae byeok in her sleep sometimes lmao

-they love to play with each others hair gently

-after leaving the games together, they stayed together in a hotel. even though they had two beds, they slept in one because they needed the company. ji yeong asked first and sae byeok of course didnt deny her.

Thanks for the ask. I think the most gut-wrenching thing is Sae-byeok’s death. It has me sobbing every time. The way she had so much life ahead of her, and the way she was willing to help gi-hun if she got out without him.. The way gi-hun reacted, so desperate to help before she was killed and then so vengeful after she died. I genuinely think her death broke him into a million pieces.

The fact her brother has no idea or closure on where she went. He has to go the rest of his life without his sister who took care of him the best she could.

All extremely painful to me.
