The problem with Encanto headcanons

As a Colombian I LOVED Encanto, but I know people have headcannoned Isabela as lesbian and Mirabel as bisexual among other characters. The issue with that is..

There is no issue.

In 2020 this was such a prominent issue to people and even 4 years later I have no idea why so many people took issue with this. It was fine for people to headcanon Elsa as lesbian, it was fine for people to headcanon Merida as lesbian, but all of sudden it's "forcing representation" and "taking away from the main story" if Isabela gets headcannoned as lesbian?? NOBODY is saying this for Max Goof and Bradley Uppercrust III when the movie was trending. NOBODY was saying it was forced representation when people shipped Bill Cipher and Ford Pines (even though the fact its gay isn't the issue but the fact it was a very manipulative relationship was but many people ignored that). And it's not bad to headcanon any of these things for any of these characters. I just don't understand why it was such an issue when Isabela (who's whole arc is honestly very WLW coded) gets called a lesbian. And its the fact its coincidentally a Hispanic character (I'm not implying ANYTHING.)

Overall, as a Colombian while i dont speak for every Colombian it never was and still isn't offensive to headcanon any Encanto character as queer since many people figured it was. Both the story and the headcanon can coexist. Acting this way won't get you approval from homophobes and transphobes! They still hate us stinkabutt 🤞

TL;DR : there was nothing wrong with headcanoning an Encanto character as queer in 2020 and there still isn't anything wrong with it in 2024.

Red Medic Update and Edits

Honestly, I’m still so confused why D3 suddenly made it so that the villains as well suddenly deserved to be free from the Isle??? Like, it feels like we were on the right track off needing to take the kids off the Isle, but then suddenly by the end….its the adults as well???

The only reason I can see this happening is cause of what Hades said but honestly, if they wanted to have a villain say that….they chose the wrong character. Hades earned his imprisonment when he tried to kill Hercules as a baby, tried to kill him more times if you count the TV show, and basically freed the titans, potentially causing more deaths. And that’s ignoring that in this film, he also attacked Mal with the ember. Like, he was not the right character to do that bullshit line. 

But like, even then, why not see which adults are innocent and want to reform versus just…freeing all the villains, including ones who wanted revenge in the first film??? Like, this whole sudden free the villains thing makes zero sense in all areas and really wasn’t needed in the film, especially as it just leads to all the jokes about Auradon probably about to be a hellscape with the villains freed now.

Hirobel 90 Day Fiance Part 2

About an hour ago, I posted a short summary about how Mirabel and Hiro would make a perfect 90 Day Fiance couple. As such, I wrote a timeline for their time on TLC.

Here it is:

In December of 2016, Mirabel and Hiro, both 21 years old, meet in downtown San Francisco, while Mirabel is on a college field trip.

Mirabel and Hiro, 22 years old, star in season 2 of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days, filmed in 2017 and aired in 2018.

Mirabel and Hiro, 23 years old, star in season 1 of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, filmed in 2018, and aired in 2019.

Mirabel and Hiro, both 23 going on 24 years old, marry on January 26, 2019.

Mirabel and Hiro, 24 years old, star in season 2 of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, filmed in 2019 and aired in 2020.

Mirabel and Hiro, 25 years old, welcome their triplets on November 27, 2020.

Mirabel and Hiro, 25 years old, star in season 3 of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, filmed in 2020 and aired in 2021.

Mirabel and Vanellope Part 3(Featuring Hiro)

Good morning, afternoon, or evening to anyone who is reading this.

My boyfriend and I have updated our Descendants AU, and part of that included adding to or changing the backstories of canon Disney characters, some of the being Hiro Hamata and Vanellope Von Schweetz.

In our AU, Vanessa Madrigal, aka "Vanellope Von Schweetz" is the daughter of Mirabel Madrigal and Hiro Hamata.

Hiro met Mirabel while he was on a business trip in The Encanto, when they were ~20 years old, or around 3 years before the formation of Auaradon. The started dating soon after they met, and a few months into their relationship, Hiro's firm transferred locations, from Sanfransokyo to The Encanto. They then dated for 2 years, and on their 2nd anniversary, Hiro proposed to Mirabel in July of 1994. Mirabel said yes, and they married 6 months, in late January of 1995. A few months into marriage, Mini-Max informed Mirabel that she was expecting triplets. The new triplets were born a few days before the formation of Auaradon. I will provide more information on them in my next post
