Which, when you think about it, is one of the most selfless things they can do with their time. Sora is fading away and he at least knows they have limited time left together (and I would imagine Kairi suspects/knows as well), but the first thing they do is help Chirithy make happy memories with them, and then make sure Chirithy reunites with Ven. They’re good, selfless people, through and through, and it shows in everything they do.

the scene always gets me.

the fact that they specifically chose to emphasize sora and kairi reaching for each other’s hand to symbolize the fact that they can never really be together, that no matter what they do, they always end up being separated, is really powerful to me.

and right after that, right after seeing kairi being taken away, sora actually breaks down. true he was heartbroken because all his other friends disappeared too. but the last person he sees and the first he mentions when talking to riku is kairi.

i just want them to be together and happy one day 😔

Welcome back! I mean I don’t know how long you’ve been gone, but:

They have shared a paopu

Sora risked his life for Kairi

He went on a suicide mission to bring Kairi back

They hugged very intimately (compare to their KH2 hug that was just as intimate, if more hesitant)

He trusted her to fight by his side for the first time.

They have a joint attack “One Heart” where they hold lots of hands (bonus: interlaced fingers!), each have an angel wing and each feather represents another shared memory of theirs

Chirithy assumed they wanted privacy (which they didn’t deny in the typical “we’re not a couple”-trope fashion)

Both kept looking at each other like the other is their entire world

They technically went on dates for as long as destiny allowed them to

And they held lots and lots and LOTS of hands (Bonus: Interlaced fingers once more!)

Yeah. They’re pretty much married at this point, or else Nomura wouldn’t have given us this:
