They always say to ‘write the book you want to read’ but they never told me it’s because I’d have to reread it 2949492 times

this isn't their first kiss but hua cheng always reacts like it's their first
i’m saying like, objectively speaking, WE should have been able to tell that it wasn’t going to work out like that: thinking that Wilhelm would stay true to his words.
maybe i shouldn’t have spoken on Simons expectations (lol,) but more on his reasoning and reaction to it?
it’s fair that he wants to have a relationship that’s not just on his terms but like, c’mon. Wilhelm’s the CROWN PRINCE of their nation. Things are not that easy.
and i just think, Simon should have tried to understand a bit more. You’re not just dating a guy, man. Even in regular relationships, some things just don’t work. some times you want things and you just can’t have them.
especially when the thing is a royal trying to unpack 16 years of monarchy trauma in three months in the wake of his brothers death when things are so hard and so fast and all at once.
Simon believed him and he got hurt and that was wrong and he was right to be hurt, especially with Wilhelm constantly pushing him away at the slightest inconvenience. but i feel that he didn’t really think about what it was like for him. for Wille. and that makes me not okay :(
to ur question: i don’t really agree with saying Wille assumed though he’d be willing to stay hidden tho. i mean, everyone in school had to have known the video was real. so they wouldn’t be hiding in school, just in the public eye. and boarding school Wille isn’t about to take Simon on a night on the town or something. heck, they were sneaking around in school before this anyways so i rlly didn’t see the issue with “hiding their relationship” but that’s me tho idrk.
rewatching Young Royals and thinking about how,
the very first scenes were of Wilhelm submitting to the choices of “the monarchy”
like, he didn’t really fight back, didn’t argue too much, he just took it.
that’s the whole reason why he was at Hillerska in the first place
so why did we really think that he would change so much for Simon in so little time? especially in the wake of his brothers death when the pressure on him to conform was WAY more than ever?
why did Simon expect this man to go against everything he’s ever known for a boy he’s known a few months?
let’s ask the real questions man :(
that scene in tlo where thalia tells percy he can't start feeling sorry for luke bc luke made his choices. and thalia reveals that the reason they couldn't make it to camp in time for all of them to make it to camp was bc luke kept picking fights. and annabeth never saw this as wrong bc luke was her hero. so thalia had to pick up the pieces. and percy thinking both that luke was put in a cruel position and that luke was putting others in a cruel position. and percy is the only character who understood both sides of luke bc annabeth sees only the best of him and thalia sees only the worst. and that's why percy is the prophecy kid and the one who gives luke the knife. bc annabeth had spent the entire series essentially giving luke the knife when he didn't deserve it. and thalia was never going to give luke the knife. but percy is the only one who can see exactly when luke deserves the knife.
why must you hurt him this way
“You know, when a person is very, very sad, they like sunsets.”
“And were you very, very sad on the day you watched forty-four sunsets?”
But the little prince did not reply.
