Honestly, it's worth the tricking!!!
sorry it’s embarrassing to even bring it up but it’s late and i tricked myself into thinking about it again. they were literally a fucking boat and they were the ocean and they were 19th century german teenagers and then they were a tree. all in two languages simultaneously. and the american theatre wing said actually you will not receive a tony nomination for choreography .
Okay, Spring Awakening fans, I have a serious question for y'all.
In the beginning of "The B*tch of Living," Moritz sings about seeing an angel in a dream. So, the question is, who do y'all think the angel is?
Daniel Durant looks like he would fit in so well in an apocalyptic drama/video game reminiscent of The Last of Us or even an HBO series!!!

I think the story has interesting parallels to the Spring Awakening sequel that never came to be, which is great!!!
My beloved Spring Awakening fam, and other theatre friends on here: What are your thoughts on Alice By Heart? I’m involved with my college’s production and want to hear some opinions on story, characters, themes, etc!
I liked the songs in high school, didn’t know the plot, but low key forgot about it so now I’ve been really delving into it lately.
Thought I'd bring this back while I'm at it!!!
1. How were you introduced to the show?

3. Dream role/character you relate to most?
Dream role: Fanny Gabor because I would come up with a super cool and bittersweet backstory for her! Character I relate to... maybe Fanny Gabor?
4. Favorite male character?
Moritz! 🤟🏻🥺😭🤧💔🖤🕊🤍 DESERVED BETTER!!!
5. Favorite female character?
Ilse because of her super sweet friendship with Moritz.
6. Deaf West Revival or Original Broadway Cast?
Both for very different reasons, which I can get into.
7. Favorite song?
My top 5 are: Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind, Touch Me, Left Behind, Those You've Known, and The Dark I Know Well.
8. Least favorite song?
Word of Your Body only because I prefer the reprise.
9. Favorite quote/line?
Moritz's line "I'll be an angel" absolutely broke my heart...
10. Favorite TV performance?
Seth Meyers or Tonys.
11. Favorite cast member(s)?
OBC: Jonathan Groff has had an amazing post Spring Awakening career, as well as everyone else in the cast. DWSA: Daniel Durant is absolutely adorable and one of the most talented actors in the Deaf West production of Spring Awakening, who also has been doing so well these days!
12. Favorite cast member moment?
Any moment with Alex and Daniel! They're both so cute!
13. Do you write fan fiction?
I'm only a part-time fan fiction writer.

Ever since I first listened to the musical I’ve always wanted to play Ilse. She’s just such a strong character and Blue Wind is my go to (Theatre) karaoke part.
4. Favorite male character
Moritz! I’m also a Georg enjoyer.
5. Favorite female character
Ilse, and specifically Treshelle Edmond/Kathryn Gallagher portrayal of Martha (love Lilli though)
6. Deaf West Revival or Original Broadway Cast?
Okay I the first Spring Awakening bootleg I watched was of OBC, but I feel more connected to DWSA version/cast because they were on Broadway during the time that I first discovered Spring Awakening. I love both so much but I gotta say DWSA for this one. That cast was groundbreaking and so excellent.

The Mirror-Blue Night- probably just because I listen to it the least.

19. Explain the song of purple summer
Fun question! It’s a metaphor for change after hard times. Purple Summer is the inevitable good thing that comes after the inevitable bad thing. No matter how harsh and cold the Winter may be, Summer always follows. Just like how no matter how harsh and cold life may be, something good will follow. The play itself is about harsh times and horrible things happening to these children- and then the play just ends… only it doesn’t. The Song of Purple Summer is Spring Awakening’s finale because it tells the audience: “Hey, what you just watched was gut wrenching, but the story isn’t over. Change is coming, Summer is coming. You won’t be here to see it, but it’s happening.”

can we talk about Spring Awakening real quick
The fact that Ilse opens “The Song of Purple Summer” is an incredibly important and meaningful detail that escaped me when I first listened to Spring Awakening.
Ilse is one of my favorite SA characters (and one of my favorite musical theatre characters in general), largely because she is 100% coded as the symbol of hope and escapism throughout the show…until we actually get a chance to meet her and let her breathe and let her talk and we realize that she traded one type of pain, one type of abuse for another. She’s subverted in this really clever way when we discover that she’s just another teenager, another human, and she’s hurting just like everyone else in the show.
Really, she’s almost as ‘broken’ as Moritz is, just in different ways.
And the fact that it’s not Wendla, not Martha, but Ilse, the symbol of hope whose humanity brutally shatters the illusion of “escape” for the rest of the young characters, the fact that she’s the one who gets to sing this gorgeous metaphor about carrying on and putting your pieces back together, that is beautiful.
Daniel is still killing it, and he's even doing opera now!!!

I just barely knew about Daniel before he was announced as a contestant on Season 31 of Dancing with the Stars in 2022, but now I'm a lifelong fan!
2. Moment that made you fall in love with Daniel?
The moment that made me fall in love with Daniel was when he got a sweet and touching message from his CODA mom Marlee Matlin on Good Morning America to promote the then-upcoming season of DWTS!
3. Character you relate to most/have strongest connection with?
Ooh... that's a tough question. I think I'd say maybe Leo, mainly because he's strong, and he loves his family. Plus, how hot is he?
4. Favorite Daniel and Marlee moment?
I can't pick just one.

I always feel really bad for Daniel whenever he gets emotional, tears up, and/or starts crying because he's high up there on my hug list, but one that really stuck out to me and still continues to make me really emotional to this day would probably be when he told Britt a really heartbreaking story about how his birth mother left him when he was just a baby and revealed that she tragically passed away from cancer.
