i’ve been saying this to myself this morning and i’m going to say it to you in case you need to hear it: you are not here to be physically attractive. that is not your purpose. you are here to learn new things and be kind to people and listen to your favorite music and pet cute dogs and read big books and drink good coffee. you are here to see beauty in the world and create it when you can’t find any. you are not here to impress people with how you look.
mugs. are. back. at one of my fav coffee shops and it’s unreal how happy I am!
Also- taking votes, should I go to sleep when I’m planning on getting up at 3:30 AM for a flight? current leaning is just stay up because… well otherwise I’d just take a short nap
Here you have my personal tips to learn English (could work with your target language too) in a more effective way. Some of them may be too obvious:
Watch series and movies in English with English subtitles until you're prepared enough to understand almost everything without them. You will acquire many grammar structures without consciously learning them.
Focus on fluency rather than on accuracy.
Follow English-speakers on your social media.
Read in English things that genuinely interest you so that the learning gets more meaningful.
Avoid memorising words without context.
Don't rely on translations too much, try to guess the meaning from the context. Think in English.
Read the lyrics while listening to an English song.
Quizlet is a great app to make flashcards and study vocabulary. However, instead of creating them with translations, do it with definitions and pictures.
Change your phone language to English.
When you're learning new vocabulary or structures, write down examples related to your life.
Write a diary in English.
And maybe the most important one: don't be afraid to talk, to communicate, to make mistakes. Don't worry about your accent. Forget about what other people may think about you. Keep trying and keep improving.

i’m having a hard time staying focused today. i try to tell myself having a bad day is allowed and not the end of the world, but i have so much stuff to do. :(

I'm told most universities do not have a Harry Potter style library. Sad!

I probably spend 99% of my life here at the moment. But tomorrow I will submit my bachelors thesis and finally have time for art again.
22.04.2020 ~
I died a little bit while preparing for the quest that was today. I spent days and this was the mess i created last night as I studied up to 2 am. Enjoy the ridiculous drawings.
Only for our instructor to ask questions on things she told us she wouldn’t. Details that I jumped over because SHE SAID IN CLASS MATERIAL WAS ENOUGH.
I am truly tired, and not looking forward to incoming weeks. Thankfully though, by the end of May we will be probably done with the classes, and I will have finally some time to read and learn without a countdown.
🚨 TOXIC PRODUCTIVITY 🚨
📝Have you ever felt you didn't 'deserve a break'? Or felt guilty when you did take any?
🧠Then I think you might have a bout of toxic productivity!
☀️What the heck is that you ask?
Well, it's essentially the unhealthy need to be productive all.the.time.
👉🏻I remember watching a reel where the creator said their toxic trait was not going to the 🚽 until they finished whatever work they had to. Tons of people in the comments agreed that they similarly had toxic traits too like not eating dinner until they 'deserved it'.
What the heck. No one should ever hold their pee or not eat dinner. You'll just get a UTI and starve yourself.
For what?!!?! No one should be rewarding themselves with basic human needs like food and going to the bathroom!!!! Those are literally things that keep us alive!!!
🥲Dear students and academics alike, please don't do this! 😩😩😩
Taking breaks is being productive
Self-care is being productive. Self-care is not just using face masks and taking bubble baths. Self-care is having boundaries, self-care is holding your ground and saying no when you need to. Self-care is putting yourself first.
Taking time out for yourself is being productive.
🏠 At the start of the pandemonium there was some post on Twitter from some butthead that went along the lines of "you better come out of this lockdown speaking another language and having an online business or you suck" to paraphrase.
💉Buddy, why are you patronizing strangers? We're all just trying not to die here. There was so much stuff online about being productive 24/7; yeah sure a lot of people's businesses thrived and tons of people put themselves out there. But shaming people for not doing the same was really a shitty message at a time when people were afraid of what was going on and were losing people they loved.
🧠You are not a machine, you have needs, and taking breaks and time to yourself is one of them. 🫀
