Being 13 years apart, Didyme and Aro had never really experienced needing to share much with each other. Because of their difference in age, they very much held idealised views of the other sibling; Didyme saw him as somewhat of a stand in parent and he fostered his younger sibling, feeling more protective of her because she was a girl when the rest were brothers.

This changed when they became vampires. When Aro returned he still saw Didyme as the young girl he'd left behind, the one who'd idolised him, not the woman she was becoming. They were in fact quite different people, and may not have remained close had their human lives remained as such.

As vampires they began to frequently bicker as siblings closer in age would, Aro jealous of her closeness to Marcus ( whether that was because Aro coveted him for himself is undetermined, though Didyme suspected as much ) and that Didyme seemed to have a natural way with people that he did not. Aro controlled people with force, Didyme could persuade people with grace. By all regards, Didyme was more of a natural born leader than her brother, and part of her knew it and liked it.

Sharp, viper-like browns study the face of her latest captive as Maria leans back on her chair, heeled boots rested up on the metal table in front of her. The only furniture in the long abandoned warehouse she used for such interrogations as the one she had planned for the blonde. Pretty, like a sleeping beauty; though Maria is not easily fooled. Her own youthful beauty had fooled many men, but only another woman knew how the outward appearance of innocence could be weaponised against those who would underestimate her. A venomous creature wrapped in a pretty pink bow. One who had been making far too much noise in Maria's territory, and who had not heeded her first warning to move on and find a new hunting ground. The Mexican commander didn't give second chances.

Her right hand and some of her more trusted soldiers had tracked the blonde to the outskirts of the region, disoriented her with their chase until she was wandering the desert, starved of blood, and then struck. The vervain laced cuffs chained around the concrete pole had done their job keeping her at bay, though Maria had grown tired of waiting. Standing up, Maria slinks toward her like a snake inspecting its prey before the final strike. Crouching down in front of sleeping beauty, she waves the vial of blood beneath her nose. Something that would even make a vampire stir from a thousand year slumber were they hungry enough. "Levántate y brilla, princesa."

As the blonde begins to stir, Maria shoves the vial back into the pocket of her leather jacket saving it for later use. Eyes flash like a warning sign, the Mexican queen laughs dryly at the first words from her prisoners mouth. Crimson lips curl sharply into a dark smirk. "Oh, that's sweet you think this is a game." Head tilts to the side, inspecting the wound at the others head that was having trouble healing, likely put there by her soldiers. Slender hands reach to touch it, though the roughness with which her thumb strokes at the scar could hardly be mistaken for a caress. "I am sorry for the violencia, little one, but if you had listened to my first warning it would not have come to this." Maria pouts, feigning regret. She was never that sorry for violence; it was something she felt quite at home with, in fact. She lets go of the others head, standing up with a sigh as she turns, her back to her captive. "You have been making such a mess around town my generals have only just managed to clean up. One might say it seems like sabotage...." She reaches the table, inspecting the instruments of torture in front of her. Reaching for a sharpened dagger still glistening with vervain, Maria turns back to face her prisoner, one hand in her back pocket as she waves the weapon in the other. "I'm only going to ask you once - why didn't you leave when I asked you?"

Though not hiding her moods from the coven was perhaps a selfish attempt to get them to feel what she felt, it didn't mean Rosalie exactly knew what to do when help was offered directly. A frustration has taken hold of her - they should already know what was wrong, she shouldn't have to SPELL IT OUT. "I'm fine, Esme. Really." A lie she knows Esme, especially, can see right through. The other woman had a way of seeing beneath the layers the others sometimes looked past. It seemed sometimes that she almost felt them, too. A guilt prickling at Rose's throat for projecting such negativity onto someone who only ever wanted to help. Then, more frustration - how did she maintain such caring calm? The younger vampire had only felt herself become more bitter with age. A rose with many, many thorns. "I just don't think I'm the only one who will need help if things go south with Edward and the human."

Stupid. She had been stupid, too reckless; something she had been so careful for the past several centuries not to be. The line between expanding her territory and not drawing the attention of the Italians was paper thin but she thought she had managed the dance so well, so delicately. Were it not for her trying to get her old lieutenant Whitlock back in line, leaving her army to be overseen by an arguably inferior replacement, she would maybe now not be faced with the threat of having her Queendom cut down. While Maria secretly did not acknowledge this strange, ancient covens dominion over the vampiric world - especially not over her territory - she had never been foolish enough to test them or admit it. Not yet. Many allied covens in the region had fallen from trying. They may not have been her rulers, but they had a power she was not prepared to challenge. Until now, that was. Now she didn't have a choice. She saw the two choices in front of her blaring from the red eyes of the ancient without him needing to say it, despite his calmness; bend the knee or die.

She isn't sure why the strange, dark-haired vampire wants her hand but all the survival instincts surging through her told her it wasn't good. Breath catches in her throat as she takes in her surroundings, the walls of the canyon seeming as though they were closing in. She is cornered, several of the guard blocking her exit as their presumed leader stalks toward her. A situation the Mexican commander is usually on the other end of, but now her own army was nowhere to be found. She was alone. A vulnerability she hasn't felt in centuries. Swallowing the rage bubbling from within - fighting this was no use - she tries the only other tool at her disposal. Her wits. "Qué es esto? I can assure you I have been careful." Another careful step backward, rocks crunching beneath her heel. "I only change strays, those half-dead already, those no one would miss." While she hardly showed it, Maria felt a sense of affection for her progeny. The forgotten, the beaten down. Like herself in her humanity. They would show the world who they really were; no one would forget their names again. Despite the thought, Maria continues to plead her case. "I keep them in line. No rules have been broken."
