This Satire Article Resonated With Me So Much

Lots of thoughts recently. Everything feels plastic.

I could go on and on about why all that AI "art" is bad. I could mention theft, lack of creativity, it's impact on the work field and environment, but countless people have already said all that. I wanted to touch on something that to me is the most utterly wrong about all of it.

Art is more than just something pretty to look at or listen to. It's therapeutic. It's a form of communication. A tool for human connection. It's a pure, human need.

To anyone wondering if it's worth it to tear down fascist posters or whatever. I spent a few months last year engaged in silent battle with another student at my school who was putting anti trans stickers up everywhere. I had it down to a system where every night I would walk the five block radius they went up in, and tear down all the ones I could reach, and use a stick to put duct tape over the others. Like, within hours of the stickers going up, I would have already purged the whole zone. I knew the basic schedule of whoever put them up based on when and where the stickers appeared. I probably could have found them in person if I'd wanted to. And I told all my classmates and friends what the stickers looked like and got them to rip them down too. And after a few months of this, the stickers slowed, and then stopped forever.

My point is, a lot of this fashy or right wing stuff is one local weirdo. And if you pay attention, and do a little light organizing with your friends, you can basically make their efforts into a giant sisyphisean exercise in misery. You control your streets!

Actually so horrifying, I remember just talking about it with my cousin and being so confused why he wasn’t as baffled as I was- like I’m saying that there’s no way this is real life and he’s just like “yeah it’s stupid but they have systems for this stuff so I’m sure it’s fine” like nooooooo?? they’re passing nonsense laws that make zero sense and are gonna have the population claiming false information as fact?? I’m so worried atm

I know we all make jokes and memes about it, like ‘lol, Trump said we are the gender we were at conception, we’re all female now. 🤪’

that doesn’t…scare you?

This is your administration. This is the knowledge that your government has….and they get high-school biology wrong. This law had to have been cross-read by several people before it was passed.

This is your government.

A bunch of rich fascists who don’t know basic science.

I'm not gonna stop drawing trans men like myself because it actually does make other trans men especially non white trans men and fat transmasc people feel better about themselves. even if the losers out there are extremely reactionary, they are very much a loud minority who clearly have a infantile view of the world and other minorities around them.

even when we are living in a trans genocide, you'll have trans teens and young adults still find a way to punch down on someone else more marginalized than them.

Elon Musk’s shameless Nazi salute, delivered behind the seal of the President of the United States, may have played well among the right-wing sickos on Musk’s social media site. But Arizona moderators on Reddit have had enough.

The salute was the final straw for the moderators of Phoenix and Arizona subreddits. On Wednesday, one moderator (aptly called AZ_moderator) announced that direct links to Musk’s social media site X are now banned from both pages. Other, larger subreddits, such as the ones for the National Football League and National Baseball Association, have also banned links to X.

reminders for today:

if you or someone you know might need it in the next few years, purchase plan b. the shelf life of plan b is 4 years, and we might not be able to access it as easily as we can now in the days ahead.

if you are larger/plus size: go online and purchase ella instead of plan b. plan b is less effective if you aren’t under 160 pounds.

if you can, purchase books that project 2025 is looking to ban.

mass deportations are starting. if you see ice vehicles or agents, yell ice raid and la migra as loud as you can.

if someone asks who you voted for, keep your mouth shut. they’re fishing for traitors.

if anyone, anyone at all asks about your neighbors or their legal status in the us, you know nothing. don’t be the reason that their family is separated.

if anyone asks about your religion or lack thereof, keep it vague. this administration will look for any excuse to persecute you.

your friends are trans or queer? for the next four years they’re not. don’t expose anyone’s status as a trans or queer person to anyone else, even if you think you can trust them.

did someone you know get an abortion? no, they didn’t. they were never pregnant.

in short, don’t be a snitch, and keep to yourself these next four years. we’ll make it through this even if it seems hopeless at times.

we can survive this. we’ve survived before, and we’ll survive again.
