Yes, and those who don't... Well... 🤷♀️
so we all agree drew was underused and was a teen girl suffering from the trauma of her dead older sister being a spy and she and piper made up after hoo/toa right
Lizzie: Do you want to explain the text you sent me last night?
Daring: It was autocorrect.
Lizzie: Autocorrect wrote "You're so hot. Please step on me."?
Daring: Yes.
It's hard to remember when I was in elementary school nowadays. So my memories of reading Rick Riordan's books for the first time are hazy. But I don't think I ever hated Leo and Calypso getting together. Now, allow me to speculate as to why that might have been. And that may just turn into a really, really long ramble on my part.
As a 10-15 year old, I was cognizant of shipping (and did read stuff like that online), but I was also just fine with happy endings to my stories. And since Leo didn't die, that was good enough for me. The book ended happily, with most major characters (besides octavian, who sadly died) surviving. That was enough to please me, I think.
And now, to just speak from my more modern, 19 year old perspective: I hate how Calypso was punished with eternity on an Island. Nobody ever stayed with her, nobody ever seemed to care. The fact that Leo came back for her…well, that touched me. It's what I'd wanted Percy to do in the Battle of the Labyrinth. It's something I'd been waiting to see for so long. So to see that someone, literally anyone, cared enough about this poor lady to save her from her prison… it's wonderfully touching.
You know I've always hated the argument "Ursa loved Azula too" because clearly Azula didn't feel loved, and not making someone feel loved is the same as not loving them at all
THIS! BECAUSE IT'S SO TRUE!!!
clearly there's some sort of internalised misogyny and trauma from bullies in you, because if you honestly think a teen girl who is mean to people* is worse than someone who literally tried to murder a twelve year old (percy), and lead to the deaths of several other teenagers (manhattan) you have another thing coming
*i should add that from what we see, Drew Tanaka is mean to people from what we see of her. We see her three days after the unofficial camp leader has been kidnapped from the one place everyone thought was safe and less than a year after she fought in at least one battle against her former friends and family, likely watched her sister die, and is probably dealing with PTSD from that.
Let's not forget she's Sadie Kane's age, which means at most we're seeing her when she's 13-14. 14, and in charge of at least 4 siblings. Also, the fact she's counselor means she's been at camp the longest. that means, that at the age of (likely) thirteen (possibly twelve) she was made counselor after being at camp the longest. that means she likely also fought in the battle of the labyrinth, which meant she participated in the minor skirmishes preceding manhattan that percy mentions, which means that this 14 year old is a war veteran by the time we see her for the first time.
Drew is frequently put down in Piper's mind, not only for being mean, but for being girly, for liking pink and perfume and caring about her appearance. that isn't feminism, that's internalized misogyny. That's piper in a 'not like other girls' phase. piper is an unreliable narrator but we aren't talking about that.
also, drew isn't wrong that piper knew nothing about silena. like, piper was thinking about betraying them the entire time she was at camp for her dad.
and silena was a traitor. i don't deny she was probably groomed but honestly what a slap in the face it must have been to be thirteen, returning to home, a room you share with six-ten other kids, and to know that some of your best friends are dead, in no small part to your sister who sold them out.
but nobody is talking about that, because Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson, the heroes who are barely there, say Silena's a hero, and that means it's true, right?
It doesn't matter that her friends are dead, doesn't matter that mothers will never see their daughters again. That drew will never forget how her sister's blood felt on her skin. because if they say it, it must be true, right?
the fact luke castellan (mostly forgiven for being hot) (and angry, but drew tanaka is angry and none of you forgive her) is a goddamn tragedy and honestly she deserves a retcon or at the very least for people to understand that HOO is not black and white, and for you to look at characters that way is a detriment to analysis.
I agree, like I kinda understand that she neglected Rebecca because she focused on Emily ( I understand but I don't agree, Mallory is a shit mom) and I get grieving over your dead daughter, but why continue neglecting the one who's still there? On top of that, asking Rebecca to her face why all her children are dead as if she's not one of her children, plus blaming her for Emily's death? She was still just a teen! like WTF!
Chapter 51 of the final gambit hurt so much. Rebecca deserves the world,I really don’t understand why the hell mallory can’t love/appreciate rebecca like we get it Emily was sick and fragile but why neglect rebecca???
I fucking hate my Dyslexia because it's not just letters and words that I read wrong, sometimes I somehow also read NUMBERS wrong.
Like a few hours ago I was making pancakes using those pancake mix that come in a box.
I was reading the instructions and read 1/4 cup of water (I decided to use milk instead because it's better)
So I poured a 1/4 cup of milk in my batter and when I looked at the instructions again for the next step, I notice that it actually says 1/2 and not 1/4.
I stared at the box to make sure that I wasn't going crazy and yup, it says 1/2
So to fix my mistake, I poured milk into my 1/2 measuring cup, and then I poured milk from the 1/2 measuring cup to the 1/4 measuring cup and made sure not to spill.
Once the 1/4 measuring cup was full. I poured whatever was left on the 1/2 measuring cup into my batter.
The pancakes turned out great but god damn was it a hassle.
Because seriously, how the fuck does one read NUMBERS wrong?
Here's the fan fic I've been talking about, only one chapter so far but I'll try to update frequently
THIS!!!
today’s evidence that r*ck hates Aphrodite kids: their mother’s symbol is the dove and pigeons are doves and New York is full of pigeons but he didn’t let the Aphrodite kids weaponize the pigeons in the Battle of Manhattan even though that is the EXACT sort of thing that would happen in this universe
Sometimes I do wonder if atla fandom like the REAL Zuko at all because the nonsense i'm reading about him....... 😭
"He's a prodigy" nope that's AZULA, that's the point of these two characters and he's also the weakest bender of the gaang
"He's friendly, charismatic and charming" that's Aang 😭
"He's the perfect boyfriend" he's possessive and jealous, that's why Mai dumped his ass and she was RIGHT
"He did nothing wrong" i'm not saying anything here lol
"He's the most mature person of the gaang" ??? PEOPLE BE SERIOUS
This character is crazy mischaracterized, like Aang actually 😭
