end of the day post— 24 november, 2023. (will publish on 25th bc this will be a long one.)
i don’t think i was exactly ready yet to make my more intimate post earlier today, but i am now. i’m going to say everything i have to say.
dear freddie,
the 32nd anniversary of your death is coming to a close, and i haven’t been able to stop thinking about you throughout the day. today has been a day of reflecting on the impact you brought not just me but the world.
let me start by saying that i was barely 10 when i came out as queer. i was just starting to figure out myself, and growing up in a more right-winged than not area i had the odds against me as a person. having your influence even back then as a kid, you were one of the first people who helped me see that my sexuality would be nothing more and nothing less than a part of me. it does not define my abilities. it is simply there, and above all, a portion of my being that i should never be ashamed of. i am now in high school and a proud lesbian, and, in large part, i owe that happiness in myself to you.
i think i speak for many people here when i say that you have inspired us to have confidence in ourselves. you’ve inspired us to be bold and never hide from any opportunity. even THIRTY-TWO years after your death that influence is STILL strong and undying, and it will see no end.
which brings me to this.
freddie mercury, dreamer, singer and shining star:
NOTHING IN THIS WORLD can even HINDER your influence on the world. AIDS WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO HURT your soul and impact. i know for a fact that every person who remembered you today knows that as long as your music survives, you’ll be with us.
even though you may be in heaven your voice will always be heard.
love ya freddie. we all do. we all will, for the rest of time.

"The next song we'd like to sing now is one which is a bit slower... this is from the show 'The Music Man', and it's also been recorded by our favourite American group, Sophie Tucker."
another sapphic beatlefan here, and… THIS!!!! THERE IS LITERALLY NO BETTER WAY TO WORD IT. he just LOOKS like a lesbian
As a sapphic myself, I keep seeing images of 70's-80 John lennon on my pinterest and at a first glance, immediately I think: "is that a lesbian? She's cute" then I click the post and realize it's just john lennon and that he just kind of looks like that.

Thank you so much, OP! This community would be so much healthier if everyone had this mindset.
People need to accept that while, yes, John did some things that should NEVER be overlooked, we need to take into account that we should hold ALL FOUR Beatles in an equal regard.
The Beatles were and continue to be four of the most innovative people in the modern age, but as a community we must understand the full picture and look beyond the myths and stereotyped beliefs about them, Lennon especially.
John Lennon has been villainized to an incredible extent.
Not only are a lot of the things that people hate him for dramatised half-truths, they are also hypocritical - seeing as most of the time, they’ll idolise one of the other Beatles who has done the same thing but haven’t been bothered to look into it.
I’m well aware that he did some awful stuff, and I am not brushing that off at all, but I find the lengths that most people go to to tell others about how much they hate him so stupid. He held himself accountable for many of the things he did and he worked later in life to ‘redeem’ himself, but he was killed before he could even reach his early forties.
All of the Beatles have all been awful at some point - they were famous white men in the 60s. But no one seems to say anything about the the others (there’s no shade being thrown here, I actually really do love them all, but the blame is very unevenly distributed.) Lennon was an incredible, flawed, complicated person with a lot of issues that weren’t addressed.
Also, reminder for people who love Paul McCartney but hate on others for loving John Lennon - why would Paul McCartney continue to defend a ‘bad’ man he’d spent a huge chunk of his life being best friends with and knows more about than any of you to this day?
Make it make sense.
I’m very sorry I’m passionate ab this. Ofc, think what you want, but PLEASE stop going into the comment sections of photos of him and going ‘drugs’ because r u so serious? What do u think they were all doing during Sgt. Pepper? It was not a one man thing…
