mmm okay opinion (☕ emoji I guess if this counts for that game) on huntlow and pda/physical displays of affection. Are they big on it? Do they not like to do it in front of people? My personal hc is hunters too flustered to do anything other than a hand-hold/pinky-link in public but when it's just him and willow he's touch starved and even a bit clingy. But I want to hear your thoughts boy 👁️👁️

YEAH YEAH YEAH This is also my hc about it!! And it's not even just Hunter who has reservations about being overly affectionate in front of people, but Willow too. It's the vibe I'm getting from little details like her waiting until everybody else leaves the room to flirt with him in TTT or not initiating the finger link in FTF until everybody was distracted by Stringbean. Like. She is shy. She feels weird about being so open about it when people are watching.

But I also feel like, though they aren't sickeningly sentimental in front of others, they are usually touching in some capacity. So yeah. Linked fingers. Or holding hands. Willow idly resting her weight against Hunter. Subtle stuff like that. And if they're not touching, they're likely standing very close together.

I dont think they're completely devoid of PDA. Like I definitely think they do shit like this while they're out walking.

Willow likes to have his arm. She is a gentleman. 😊

OH and while they don't dare kiss as shamelessly as Luz and Amity do...Hunter occasionally gives Willow goodbye smooches. Even if they're hanging out with the others. It be like this

It's always her forehead he kisses cuz her forehead so perfectly aligns with where his mouth is. She is the ideal height for it. And this is calculated too. He'd be embarrassed to do this and stick around for the others to make fun of him so it's always right before he has to leave. He plants that smooch and immediately teleports off the scene. He refuses to face the repercussions of being mushy with his girlfriend!!!! It drives Willow insane because hello??? She doesn't get to leave just yet. She has to just stand here with the others and be blushy and giggly about it. Do you even care, Hunter??? Do you even care about your girlfriend??? And she hates it cuz she likes it and no matter how embarrassing it is, she doesn't not want goodbye smooches, so she just has to put up with it. Fuck this guy!!!

But yeah!!! YEAH!!! If nobody else is around, Hunter is actually really touchy. He was very hesitant at first during intimate moments and Willow had to manually guide his hands to her face, her waist, wherever she wanted his hands to be. But as he got more comfortable with the fact that he was given permission to touch her, he gradually shifted into this fervent eagerness whenever they're alone. It kinda flusters Willow actually. She wasn't entirely prepared for it. Even after she gets used to it, he still has the ability to mentally trip her up.

Like he'll usually show up at her place after a long, soul draining kind of day. And they'll barely get their "hellos" in before he's suddenly bundled her up in his arms, squeezing her tight against his chest (Willow's like "Okay...okay...this is happening...be cool, this is happening....") and pressing a light kiss against her lips. It's a nonverbal question. Like "I feel like doing a lot of kissing? Can we do that right now??" And Willow rarely says no. She can't always manage a yes either. Just a little nod because WOW!!! OKAY!!! YOURE JUST GONNA BARGE INTO HER ROOM AND SWEEP HER OFF HER FEET???? NO CONSIDERATION FOR THE FACT THAT SHE WAS DOING HER HOMEWORK AND NOW SHE CAN'T FOCUS ON ANYTHING ELSE BUT YOUR STUPID MOUTH!!!! DO YOU EVEN CARE?????

Anyway, yeah. Very subtle acts of PDA. But Hunter is an absolute menace once he gets the hang of this whole "having a girlfriend" thing. Hands all over her. He has the audacity to make her feel loved to the point of idiocy. Disgusting.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I’ve written for a good few, but out of the ones I’ve actually posted, there are two-- The Owl House, and Over the Garden Wall. Mainly Huntlow, obviously, because I am obsessed, but I hope to post some Legend of Zelda fics as well, if I can muster up the courage.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? 

Yes, I do try to!! I don’t get a lot of comments, but I always love to read them, and I always try to reply!!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably But It Helps To Hear You Say It Anyway, since it ended on a bit of a bittersweet note. I’m not great with angst--I am very prone to fluffy endings (however unrealistic that tends to be).

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I would say I See You, I think. All my fics have relatively happy endings, though--I cannot help it. 

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No, but I haven’t been posting fics for very long. I know it’s something a lot of fic authors deal with, which makes me sad--they get no pay or any kind of compensation for writing these stories, they just do it out of pure creativity and a need to share.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do not. I am a sex-repulsed ace, and it definitely shows. But power to those who do write it--you are far stronger than I.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

No, the most “crossover” kind of thing I’ve ever toyed with is putting characters as the main characters of a different piece of media, like my eternal love for a Huntlow Breath of the Wild AU (which… I guess does technically count. But my point stands).

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope, and if I did, I’d probably never know about it

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope, but if anyone ever wants to, please reach out!

Do I really need to say it. Take one look at my account. But I’ll say it anyway because they have permanantly changed my brain chemistry-- HUNTLOW

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Uhhh, I have a WIP for an Owl House AU based on the game Spiritfarer, but it makes me sad to think about characters I like dying, so it’ll probably never get done.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I like being descriptive, and I think I’m okay at that. I’ve also received compliments on my dialogue before! Otherwise, I just hope my fics are as comforting to others as I mean for them to be!

17. What are your writing weaknesses? 

I could go on all day, because I lack a lot of writing confidence, but I’ll say that I really wish I were better at describing action. A lot of the time, the characters end up doing a lot of head turning and sighing--it feels very bland and repetitive to me.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I definitely like the idea of it!! I just always worry about getting the translation accurate. I don’t want to try resorting to Google Translate 😅

19. First fandom you wrote for?

The first one I published for was The Owl House, but the first one I ever actually wrote for was Breath of the Wild. The Zelink in that game had me going crazy and made me actually realize “Hey wait, I can just write what I want”

20. Favourite fic you've ever written? 

I’m very critical of everything I write, but so far, out of the ones I’ve published, I would say I See You.

Hmm probably The Courtesan and the Writer (doctor who | eleven/amy) I used to dabble in angst a bit more when I first started writing fic, but these days all my fics are pretty much guaranteed to have a happy ending, because real life is hard enough lol

Pretty much all my fics have happy endings, but one of the happiest I wrote would probably be my huntlow college AU Until You Meet Someone Who Makes The Fall Feel Like Flying

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I wouldn't call it outright hate, but I have gotten a handful of rude comments over the years (complaining that I don't post often enough, telling me my headcanons are wrong, telling me how they think my story should have ended — one time someone yelled at me in all caps because I said that a character chilled red wine lol that one was wild)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do! Smut is fun. Mine is typically more focused on the emotional aspect than the physical, is usually the result of a long tension-fueled slow burn buildup, and is usually tooth-rottingly fluffy, soft, and sweet.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I have! Back in the days where superwholock plagued tumblr, I wrote one of the silliest cross-overs imaginable, combining doctor who, torchwood, bbc sherlock, supernatural, the avengers, and sleepy hollow: Lords, Gods, and Madmen

Yes!

I think my top three ships are reflected in who I've written the most fic for: huntlow, sterek, and the eleventh doctor/amy pond

Luckily, everything that's posted to AO3 is finished, but at this point I'm thinking I'll probably never get around to writing the little nightmares, reylo, and captain swan WIPs I've had sitting in my drafts since 2019

16. What are your writing strengths?

I've been told I capture the characters really well, which means a lot to me. I've also been told that my writing is cozy and comforting and fills people with warm fuzzy feelings, which is always nice to hear 🥰

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I will sit there and agonize over the same paragraph trying to make it sound perfect instead of just letting the writing flow, so sometimes a fic will be in the works for a very long time until it's finally ready to be posted (by which time I'm probably sick of it and never want to look at it again 😂)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I've dabbled in this a little bit, but it's usually been plot-relevant, like a character learning to speak the language (i.e. when Hunter tried to learn Spanish in Being Human.) When I do write in another language, I always do my best to research and try to get the translations as accurate as possible, and I always include the English translation either in the fic itself or as an author's note so readers don't have to break away from my fic to google anything. (And also so that they know what my intention was, on the off-chance I translated something wrong and accidentally wrote something offensive.) 19. First fandom you wrote for?

Does anyone remember that vampire show that came out back in like 2009? Moonlight? Yeah, that one lol

Reminders for the Anxious/Depressed Creatives

You’re more than what you make.

Your productivity does not determine your value.

It’s okay to do nothing sometimes.

Not everything you do has to result in a product.

Not everything you make has to be important, significant, or even good.

You can make things just for yourself.

You can keep secrets for yourself, whether it’s not posting some of your projects or not sharing your techniques.

You’re allowed to say no.

You’re allowed to rest.

Okay so I watched Weathering With You for the hundredth time and because I am obsessed with Huntlow, of course my brain went “I can do BOTH”

But like. It makes sense to me

But now the problem is I’m making myself really emotional over the idea of a version of the end of the movie where they’re falling through the sky and Hunter is trying to catch Willow and saying “You’ve done enough! I care about you more than anything else—you’re my treasure!!” (In reference to the alternate translation of “you guys mean the world to me” because that permanently changed my brain chemistry)

Do you see the vision. Am I delusional. I have so many ideas and so little motivation to write but I need everyone to know

It is with profound disappointment that we report the industry CEOs have walked away from the bargaining table after refusing to counter our latest offer. (1/11)

We have negotiated with them in good faith, despite the fact that last week they presented an offer that was, shockingly, worth less than they proposed before the strike began.

These companies refuse to protect performers from being replaced by AI, they refuse to increase your wages to keep up with inflation, and they refuse to share a tiny portion of the immense revenue YOUR work generates for them.

We have made big, meaningful counters on our end, including completely transforming our revenue share proposal, which would cost the companies less than 57¢ per subscriber each year. They have rejected our proposals and refused to counter.

Instead they use bully tactics. Just tonight, they intentionally misrepresented to the press the cost of the above proposal – overstating it by 60%.

They have done the same with A.I., claiming to protect performer consent, but continuing to demand “consent” on the first day of employment for use of a performer’s digital replica for an entire cinematic universe (or any franchise project).

The companies are using the same failed strategy they tried to inflict on the WGA – putting out misleading information in an attempt to fool our members into abandoning our solidarity and putting pressure on our negotiators.

But, just like the writers, our members are smarter than that and will not be fooled.

We feel the pain these companies have inflicted on our members, our strike captains, IATSE, Teamsters and Basic Crafts union members, and everyone in this industry. We have sacrificed too much to capitulate to their stonewalling and greed.

We stand united and ready to negotiate today, tomorrow, and every day.

Our resolve is unwavering. Join us on picket lines and at solidarity events around the country and let your voices be heard.

One day longer. One day stronger. As long as it takes.

in regards to that text post you tagged as hunlow followed by "listen to me". i have a chair. i am sitting down. i'm listening if you want to explain.

Waaah I am all jumbled up so this is not gonna be very eloquent but lemme do a little word vomit here.

Anyway. The poem 'Yes & No' by Natalie Wee and the complete huntlow overload it gives me every time I read it.

It works from both their perspectives on how they view the other person. Those parallels do be paralleling. I might blabber about it from Hunter's POV....another day. But because the poem is written by a woman and refers to a 'Him' lets focus on Willow's side of things. It's the side that gives me the most brainrot anyway. I really do love a good subversion. A girl who thinks she is too monstrous for a boy whom she views as too gentle.

I think very often about Willow's relationship with her own powers. The show went somewhat into depth about how being 'Half a Witch' destroyed her confidence. The part of her that could not excel at anything that wasn't plant-centric. There's nothing particularly complex about her feelings of inferiority. It's very easy to understand. She's Mildred Hubble coded.

HOWEVER it's also shown in her debut episode that Willow losing control of her emotions can lead to big destructive outbursts. This is the part that was touched on as a conflict in For the Future, but was never really explored at length.

This ability of hers is extremely dangerous. She can severely hurt both herself and the people around her. Surely, that must be a frightening reality for a little girl to live with.

I wonder when these outbursts first started. I wonder if that incident in the detention pit was the first time her own magic nearly killed her. I wonder if something happened on the day of Amity's birthday party when little Willow felt like she had lost everything. I wonder a lot of things. But mostly I wonder how being like this since she was young has effected Willow's mindset, her behaviour and her complexes. What does she think of herself? Is she afraid of what she's capable of? Is she afraid of her own emotions?

Anyway, with that in mind. Here is the poem. Beat by beat.

reasons to not kiss him:

1. you weren’t raised to love tender.

Willow was born and raised to be a sweet gentle girl with a soft spot for plants. She's silly and lighthearted yet mature for her age and tries to remain rational in irrational situations. She allows hugs from Gus and she allows Luz's touchy affection and cooing over how cute she is.

But by "love tender", I interpret it as Willow not knowing how to love and be loved in a way that puts her in a vulnerable position. The bleeding open wound kind of love. She's already been thrown away once in her life like she's something disposable so she has decided that it will inevitably happen again. Willow has already braced herself for Luz and Gus finding other friends and leaving her behind. She's loved them so sweetly this whole time but she's always been keeping them at arm's length, scared to pour too much of her heart into their hands. She's simply savouring the time she has with them until they drift away.

But Hunter is a different story. There is something about him that demands she love tender. And it's terrifying that she feels the pressure to do so. And it's even more terrifying that she so badly wants to.

2. when he’s around all you do is tremble. when he’s around you want to get on your knees. look how much power he has over you. it’s dangerous.

Willow is a girl who has been carelessly discarded like her feelings meant nothing, made to feel like she was a waste of an existence and who is also deathly afraid of herself and the unstable magical battery pulsing inside of her. This results in having to lock up her more reckless emotions in order to keep everyone safe, but also to protect her own heart. She's gotten good at it. And she's also now perceived as an iron clad witch who cannot be weakened.

But the presence of Hunter reveals something very concerning. She can be weakened. His smile and his voice and his entire disposition is a breach of the barriers she has spent years building. He is capable of puncturing her clean through. And the part that makes her lips tighetn is that he's not even aware of it.

It doesn't sound so foreboding on the surface. So what if he can make her smile until she can't stop smiling? So what if he can make her laugh until she's breathless? But then she'd have to regain herself and realize that as harmless as that is, it's a result of her losing control of her emotions. Which she rarely does anymore. And it's all because of him with his soft eyes and his kind smile and his shy adoration for her.

And if he can do that, he can do far worse to her. That's the scary part.

3. he’s too good at forgiving and you’re too good at violence.

4. you know what they say about monsters. you know what happens to the boys who love them. are you going to do that to him?

5. your hands don’t know how to be gentle. think about the last beautiful thing that shattered in your palms. the fresh rosebuds crumbling between your fingers like a bruise. you wolf-boy, you war machine. you wouldn’t know how to hold something magic and not destroy it.

Willow is not stupid. She's not unobservant. Hunter did not need to stay a word for her to realize that he is a boy who has been wronged by someone who he loved with his whole aching heart. He has been hurt in a way that will leave his heart aching forever and ever.

But it's a sharp sting to know that in spite of that, he continues to fall deeply in love with every person who shows him compassion. Nothing can burn out his warm glow. He loves and he loves until he's sick with the stuff. And Willow doesn't know how he does it, but his glow is so nice to graze in. Once you get too close to him, you don't want to leave.

When Willow hugs him, his fingers tentatively twist into the sleeves of her cardigan. She sees how he looks at her and she knows he'd like nothing more than to squeeze her tight and drown in her.

He's in love with Willow the way he's in love with everything and she desperately wants to give him everything.

She wants to place her hands on his cheeks and watch as she melts into her palms, finally satiated after all he had been starving for.

She wants to fall in love with him.

But she can't. Because she knows he'd fall in love with her too.

And then eventually, she would hurt him. Like he had been hurt before.

She can't trust herself to not hurt him.

And in the aftermath of the hurt, she would cry herself hoarse with ragged apologies.

And because she was kind and because he knows she didn't mean to hurt him, he would squeeze her tight and say "It's okay."

Then she'd hurt him again.

"It's okay."

And again.

"It's okay."

A painful cycle that spins until there's barely of him left.

And Willow is scared that by that point that she'll be too weak for his soft eyes to ever let him go.

She doesn't know what will become of her.

She doesn't want to find out.

So to stay on the safe side, they will never begin.

6. if you hurt him it might kill you

7. if you hurt him you might kill yourself.

8. you are very bad at rehabilitation. this is one addiction you’d fail to give up. he’s going to ruin you for all other kisses and all other boys and you’ll spend the rest of your life trying to forget his name.

Willow has analyzed the situation and she's come to the conclusion that if she allowed this sweet boy entry to her briar n' bramble guarded heart, they'd bend to his will, clearing a path to the delicate structure. And once he holds it in his hands, he'll leave his fingerprints all over it.

This is the damage she's talking about.

The damage he can do to her.

9. you still aren’t sure he isn’t a dream.

10. if you kiss him, you might wake up.

You would think, with all this lamenting Willow does over Hunter's existence, that he's making her miserable.

Far from it.

She's reluctant to admit it, even to herself, but she's already addicted to whatever it is that he's emanating. Like a flower stretching towards the sunlight.

Sometimes he doesn't feel feel.

Typical of an overthinker to not believe that could be as wonderful as it seems.

In an ideal world, they could both make each other happy.

If she doesn't ruin everything.

Mistletoe kisses. Parasitic in nature.

What if she leeches all the light left in him?

What if a kiss is her wakeup call?

reasons to kiss him:

1. because he’s beautiful.

He's so beautiful.

2. because he asked.

He's begging. He's begging every time he looks at her. He certainly doesn't mean to. Nor does he know that he's doing it. But somehow, without saying a word, he has crumbled to his knees begging for her to pour of a little of her heart into his lips to warm his blood.

He wants her to love tender and be loved raw. And he wants to do the same.

And if she said no, he would simply reply "that's okay."

But she doesn't want to say no.

She wants to give him everything.

That's the problem.

And even worse....she is pretty sure she is about to crack.

She will give him everything.

Because...
