Dreamed that I was downloading the music of a band called "Intervesante." The band's lead singers were a set of Jewish-Jamaican teenage twin girls. I really wish that band existed in real life.

grad school has helped me level up my procrastination skills

while avoiding reading and homework, I taught myself how to use Sculptris and created a bust of a character for a huge sprawling comic that may never actually happen!

I’m pretty pleased, what with this being my first sculpt and all.

That's one of the things that I really like about your art -- you seem to know exactly when to stop. Your pieces aren't overworked or fussy, they feel straightforward.

I have a hard time stopping on my pieces. I keep working them until I look at them and go "Shit, I should have stopped, like, 8 changes ago." I've been trying to work on that, giving myself "assignments" or guidelines designed to limit my obsessiveness.

For instance, in the painting that I'm working on right now, I'm not allowing myself to use brown or black. That means I can only get a certain level of shadows and depth in the image, so that's one thing that I'm not stressing about.

Second study, using heavy body acrylics this time.

So far I like the opacity, but I prefer how smooth the open acrylics feel and that they stay wet on the palette for longer.

I’m trying to move away from my natural inclination towards fussy details and get more of the big strokes that you see in Uglow, Saville, and Freud.

So I'm a huge nerd and I made a huge playlist of songs that give me feels about being transgender and queer. I take my playlists very seriously and put a ridiculous amount of time and effort into choosing and arranging the songs.

Warning -- some of these songs contain lyrics that have sexual content, violent content, mentions of sexual abuse, and content that may trigger dysphoria. Also, some of these bands or musicians have done some shitty things, and while I like their work, I don't approve of what they've done (Amanda Palmer, The Sex Pistols, Glen Danzig, Die Antwoord, I'm looking at you).
