A Little Midnight Baking!

Tonight with the first quarter moon I decided to make the moon spell cookies from this post. I did change a few things because I wanted to make them more of a shortbread (which basically entails adding a lot more butter!) Also, in order to have a bit more fun I did it all by candlelight! Let me just say that I had the most wonderful Mood™ going on in my kitchen. Very witchy *happy sigh*

This is basically the recipe that I followed:

1 cup (two sticks) of butter

1 egg

½ cup sugar

1 ¾ cup flour

1 cup of milled almonds

powdered sugar to garnish

I wanted to start baking the cookies in the oven right at midnight so I made the dough around 10 pm and then put it in a glass bowl with saran wrap to cover it. I put it outside to charge the dough in the moonlight for about 1.5 hours (thankfully it is still cold enough outside to chill the dough out there!) I also set a few crystals on top of the covered bowl.

The moon shape was fairly easy, nothing fancy, just used a coffee mug and then a tiny plastic bowl to make it. It was such an enjoyable experience and having taste tested several of them I can confirm that they are delicious!

SATURN The planet of responsibility, ethic, and hard work. Teaches discipline and remains influential until self discipline is understood. It is associated with diligence, self control, limitation, patience, stability, maturity and realism. Governs how trust and respect, along with discipline, are integrated in the self. URANUS The planet of change and originality. what i REALLY want to do is knit my friends chunky wool sweaters in ugly patterns and send them jars of homemade jam and lavender honey and sugar-crusted shortbread wrapped in brown paper tied up with knotted twine and handwrite them letters on thick yellowish paper infused with dried wildflowers i picked and pressed myself but nooooo i have to “study” and “work” so that i can earn ‘‘‘money’’’ and pay ‘‘‘bills’’’. fuck all life.
