Okay, consider this. As a chronic nail biter, I can't stand my nails having any noticeable length. So despite loving the idea of having claws, I always figured that in reality it would never work. But then I really thought about why I hate having nails, and constantly bite them down, and it's starting to make more sense.

Our nail's grow from the nail matrix located closer towards the joint of our last knuckle, the nail growing along the top of said knuckle. If my nails are long and sturdy, then the action of scratching or digging into something with them will apply a force upward from underneath, essentially giving the sensation of prying my nails off while putting pressure on the top of my finger away from the tip. And it feels so wrong. Plus nails get so dirty, I have to worry about dirt getting under them and trapped between the skin and nail. And to clean them? Yep, more of that sensation of prying the nail away. Human nails were meant to provide minimal scratching and combing functionality while keeping out of the way so our broad finger pads can grip things easily.

Claws though? The claw grows from the quick, located closer to the tip of the last knuckle on the underside of it, claw fully encasing the quick like a shell. Scratching and digging will successfully distribute the force along the knuckle a lot more broadly without it being pried away. Due to the shape, the claw beds also get a lot less filthy, and cleaning them won't feel like they are getting torn off.

By biting my nails as short as possible, I'm getting rid of any possible leverage of pressure prying my nail upward from beneath. Plus the way animals like cats usually clean and groom their claws is by nibbling away any dirt, so by biting my nails, it's like I'm also grooming all the dirt away without scraping under my nails to do so.

So yeah, after thinking about it, I totally could have claws without my issue of biting them. Sure it'd take some time to break the habit, but the underlying cause that has made it impossible to break in the past will be gone

I just had the most perfect Christmas experience ever.

Today is the last day of school before Christmas break. After a long day of watching movies and playing Christmas games, I returned home earlier than usual due to an early dismissal caused by snow. I walk home, with snowflakes falling and piling all around me. Everyone had Christmas and holiday clothing and hats, we got to do fun stuff instead of tests like we have for most of the week, we got candy, and bid our farewells to each other until year. As I walk home, next to the main road we have to cross, there lied a little box full of candy canes for the children to take home.

Christmas is here. everything is epic.

- I know the fandom was robbed of Toothless finding a flock of Night Furies. It was hyped up for years, "What happened to the Night Furies?", and then THW let you down. But, it's NOT the Nameless Light Furies fault.
