an old-school cookie recipe for anyone wanting a hobbit-y christmas dessert. i just imagine these kinds of desserts as being easy and classic for a fantasy english countryside. enjoy with some mulled wine! it’s from an old finnish recipe.
300g flour
200g butter
1 dl sugar
1 egg yolk
2 tbsp of water
mix by hand the flour and sugar with the cold butter. smush the butter in until there are no large chunks- should look like crumbly flour. put the egg yolk in. mix the water in. mix by hand again until it looks like a dough. put in fridge for “a while”, it should harden so it’s not as soft.
after, roll out sections of the dough into long sticks and cut to 5cm, it should be the width of a finger. bake in oven at 375F/190C until golden. about ten minutes!
the best thing about tumblr is that you can watch a show and then you come here and someone has made a gifset of it and you can put it on your blog like a sticker in a journal
