Damn right it has. Fanfic is the single thing that can pull me out of a depressive episode.
I laughed way to hard at this

Something I didn't know I needed to read. Happy pride everyone. đłď¸âđ
Iâm watching that documentary âBefore Stonewallâ about gay history pre-1969, and uncovered something which I think is interesting.
The documentary includes a brief clip of a 1954 televised newscast about the rise of homosexuality. The host of the program interviewed psychologists, a police officer, and one âknown homosexualâ. The âknown homosexualâ is 22 years old. He identifies himself as Curtis White, which is a pseudonym; his name is actually Dale Olson.
So I tracked down the newscast. According to what I can find, Dale Olson may have been the first gay man to appear openly on television and defend his sexual orientation. He explains that thereâs nothing wrong with him mentally and heâs never been arrested. When asked whether heâd take a cure if it existed, he says no. When asked whether his family knows heâs gay, he says that they didnât up until tonight, but he guesses theyâre going to find out, and heâll probably be fired from his job as well. So of course the host is like âŚwhy are you doing this interview then? and Dale Olson, cool as cucumber pie, says âI think that this way I can be a little useful to someone besides myself.â
1954. 22 years old. Balls of pure titanium.
Despite the pseudonym, Daleâs boss did indeed recognize him from the TV program, and he was promptly fired the next day. He wrote into ONE magazine six months later to reassure readers that he had gotten a new job at a higher salary.
Curious about what became of him, I looked into his life a little further. It turns out that he ultimately became a very successful publicity agent. He promoted the Rocky movies and Superman. Not only that, but get this: Dale represented Rock Hudson, and he was the person who convinced him to disclose that he had AIDS! He wrote the statement Rock read. And as we know, Rock Hudsonâs disclosure had a very significant effect on the national conversation about AIDS in the U.S.
It appears that no one has made the connection between Dale Olson the publicity agent instrumental in the AIDS debate and Dale Olson the 22-year-old first openly gay man on TV. So I thought Iâd make it. For Pride month, an unsung gay hero.
Long time no brain dump.
I got a new fic in the works by the name of 'A Complicated Game Called Chess' ! I haven't finished my others, but we're not going to talk about that.
Branching out from my Batfamily fics, it's a cross over from COD and Charlie's Angel's and is sort of like a side quest for both fandoms as it works as kind of a mix between the 141 team and my own personal Charlies Angels characters.
I just wanted to know if anyone would be even interested in reading it before I put too much of my already limited energy into writing it out.
I already have a first chapter out on my Ao3 and just want to know if people like it and want more of my underbaked brain child.
As always, happy reading!
I am pleased to say that by the end of this month I will have published three (3) fics on ao3 that I have been hard at work on for the past few months.
'How did we get here?' Is one of my most asked for fics. A DpĂDC cross over in which Danny goes to Gotham, meets the ghosts of Thomas and Martha Wayne and gets questioned by Batman is in the works! It's supposed to be a one-shot maybe 3 chapters at the max. (50/50 it'll be longer than that tho-) This is supposed to be updated every Friday (don't hold me to it.)
'Slight Changes' is mainly based on parts of the Batfam and may extend to other DC characters but is based entirely on them. Multi-chapter fic, don't know how long it'll be though. The only hint I'll give is that it's set in a mirror dimension. This is supposed to be updated every Saturday (again, don't hold me to it.)
'The Knights daughter' is a long Multi-chapter fic set mainly on the Batfam. (This has some (alot-) of my OC's in it.) A short synopsis is that Bruce has a daughter he didn't know about, he goes to find said daughter and she is more than he expected her to be in more than one way. This is supposed to be updated every other Wednesday (say it with me, don't hold me to it.)
'How did we get here?', 'Slight Changes' and 'The Knights Daughter' will all be available on my ao3 page. They will all be posted on the 29th. Thank you for your patience!
The red haired Robin is Carrie Kelley and has been around since the 80s! Sheâs considered an elseworld Robin bc sheâs canon in the millerverse but not main continuity. Youâre nearly spot on abt all of the other robins though (Tim was actually 3rd before Stephanie. It was a Whole Thing)
Dukeâs robin status is a bit more contentious bc there were a LOT of kids calling themselves robin at that time. So thereâs a LOT more than even 8 robins if ya count him đ (& not to mention the other elseworld/future-verse robins all thru DC history lol)
God damn, thanks for telling me. I got a lot to read apparently đ
Dang, I love this album but I didn't know it came out the same year I did.
Add a month and minus a day, that's when I was born. Huh, go figure.
Anyway, happy birthday Black Parade!
Oh my god happy birthday babygirl.. she's 16 I'm buying her a car <33
The Atlantians have to be vegetarians, hear me out!
I was on the subjects of Auquaman throwing a feast/banquet (don't ask how I got there my thought process is very screwed up) and I was wondering, what would they eat.
Because, Auquaman rules over the ocean, right? So that makes marine animals apart of his subjects and he couldn't eat them. But he also can't bring down surface food cause it would corrode or float apart. (Have you ever seen food under water, gross.)
So what would they eat? Plankton? I don't think so.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
I felt the same way when I was finally thinking of uploading my fic, only to find Ao3 down.
Now I may never upload
day 1 without ao3: i have gone through all 5 stages of grief multiple times and have invented a 6th. i will not disclose what the 6th stage of grief is.
Am I the only one who fell in love with the girl Bonita from the old R&B song Bonita Applebum by 'A Tribe Called Quest' when I was like 10? Did it qick start my sexual questioning? Yes, no, maybe? I guess we'll never know.
What happened to Alfreds daughter (granddaughter?). I don't remember if she got hurt or killed or even if she existed but I swear she was real.
Idk if I was watching the Batman TV show or reading the comics but I swear there was a girl somehow related to Alfred. Knowing my shifty memory this could have just been a dream but I want to see if anyone else remembers here.
