Annabeth remembered how out of place she felt at school, when the girls talked about their mothers, how all his cousins had mothers, when, in the school family day, she used to be alone, because his father was working.
As a kid, she always dreamed about a family, having a loving mother, someone who will brush her hair, cook the breakfast, take her to school, play with her, help with the homework, Frederick Chase was an busy man, he didn’t have enough time to take good care of a little girl.
Growing, Annabeth’s dreams changed, he stopped dreaming about loving parents, now she was picturing herself as a mother, having kids, raising them, being the mother she always wanted to have, she dreamed about a husband too, a faceless man, loving and caring.
During the college, she dated a lot of boys, but nobody wanted to plan the relation so far, thinking about marriage and kids, Annabeth stopped bringing the topic, smiling and never asking for a stronger compromise, the dream bury on her mind.
In her final years at college, moving with a roommate, a girl named Reyna, she started to think about it again.
Reyna was sweet, waking soon to make breakfast, always asking about Annabeth’s day, dragging the girl to her bed when she fell sleep on her desk, Reyna was so loving and caring, slowly, the faceless man morphed into a girl, someone like Reyna.
“Would you like to have kids?” asked Reyna once, both of them looking at the window, eating ice cream, a summer storm breaking the sky.
“I like the idea of a house with white fences, two or three kids, a dog.”
“Lovely,” Reyna looked at the sky, her eyes wandering on the landscape “I’d be nice to have a family, raise a kid, knowing you will have someone waiting for you, having a home.”
“When I was little, I thought I would marry a man, but know, I only picture a girl, two kids, a big dog, a house I designed, big backyard, something pretty”
“All the things you design are pretty”
Annabeth blushed, avoiding Reyna’s eyes, they stayed in silence, looking at the storm.
They graduate and part ways, in the months before they departure the topic never come up again, Annabeth dated girls and boys, some relations more serious than others, and they idea of Reyna being her lifelong partner faded away.
Years later, more than a decade, they met again, the group of friends they were in college reunited, Annabeth was married with a pretty girl, and they adopted a little boy, she had the house and the dog, big backyard and a room for another kid, her wife was all she wanted and more.
“You know,” she told Reyna when she was leaving “I dreamed about us together.”
“Yeah, me too.”

This is an updated repeat of a couple of lists with reading recommendations with Dick as Robin and Nightwing (Pre-Flashpoint) that I’ve made earlier. But since I wrote them as answers to asks, the posts don’t have a headline, and I find that they can be easy to miss (for me, when I want to look something up…) So I thought I might as well make a new, single post of them.
The stories are in what I imagine would be an in-universe chronology. They are from all periods, ignoring that the Golden/Silver age stories and Bronze/modern age stories have at times been considered two different universes. Most of them are stories that, at the time of their publishing, were canon and in continuity. None is explicitly Elseworld, so you can certainly imagine that they have happened ;-)
To be honest, not all of these comics are examples of great storytelling. Older superhero comics, for instance, are definitely something else compared to modern comics, for better and for worse. I’ve picked some because they are “the first time” or significant in some way (e.g. the first time Dick was almost killed, when Bruce has to fight to keep custody, an infamous fight between Dick and Bruce, the most well-known different origin stories, panels that are often quoted); others because they have a cute or fun moment. I have also included some books that I don’t like myself but are well-known.
Storytelling has changed a lot since Dick was Robin. Back in the Golden and Silver age, with very few exceptions, comics were stand-alone short stories. In later decades, it’s usually arcs that span at least a couple of issues and some stories have consequences for years.
Dick has been an active team member since the 1960s, and he has arguably been at his best in some team titles, but I still don’t have a lot of team books here. I find it difficult to, off the top of my head, recall any “special Dick issues”.
Obviously, these are very personal preferences, and the list is based on what I’ve read and remembered best.
Robin the Boy Wonder. Detective Comics # 38 (The original origin story. There has been maaany more since then – I’ve made a list just with origin stories….) (1940).
Batman: Year Three. Batman # 436-439. (An origin story where Dick spent some time at a nice orphanage before he came to Bruce.) (1989)
Robin Annual vol 2 # 4. (Another origin story, where the Gotham authorities remove Dick him from the circus, and he is put in the Gotham City’s Youth Center. Not my preferred but it’s well known.) (1995)
The Gauntlet. The Batman Chronicles #1. (The test before Batman let Dick start out as Robin.) (1997)
Grimm. Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #149-153. (A story set when Dick is new as Robin and still uncertain about his place. For a while, he wants to leave Batman and stay in a children’s underground paradise.) (2002)
Robin: Year One. (Traumatic events during Dick’s first year as Robin. He was nearly beat to death by Two-Face. When Bruce said he was not permitted to continue as Robin, Dick ran away because he didn’t think there was a place for him at the Manor any more.) (2001)
The case of the honest crook. Batman #5. (1941)

Happy Holidays!!!
HI!!! Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays!!!
This is my gift for my amazing giftee @cute-bi-disaster Hope you like it!!! <3
The question is: why do people not share the artwork of their favorite creators? Stuff they like?
There has been post after post complaining how the dynamics and the like/reblog ratio on tumblr has shifted drastically over the past few years. Where people used to reblog heavily over liking the new ratio is often times 1:4 to even 1:6 reblogs to likes per post.
Don’t you know how devastating that is?
Imagine working on something for hours, days, weeks or even months. You put in on the Internet and people nod to it and pass by. No further encouragement. Nothing. At best it gets stolen on a different platform and someone else gets the praise for it.
Reblogs are the equivalent of saying ”Hey guys! This person did something amazing that I like! Check them out!“ Likes don’t get validated by the algorithm. Only reblogs matter. No wonder people are walking out and finding other media as Twitter or IG. Their ratios aren’t great, but better than tumblr.
If you have the audacity to cry about content creators abandoning their blogs because they feel unheard, you’re most likely part of the problem.
Creators of all sorts feel discouraged from creating more as their content doesn’t get seen as tumblrs algorithm and new guidelines simply fuck them over. Reblogs expose them to new audiences and new possible fans.
The only reasons why people don’t (immediately) reblog I can think of are
A) people liking stuff to place them later in a queue/reblog them
B) people want NSFW stuff hidden from their blogs
Even then, case a) is a strong one, case b) flimsy at best. You do realize that you can create more than one blog? Make an NSFW one? Tumblr isn’t like Instagram where you have to compete to comply for a certain aesthetics and where you have to fight for followers and sponsorships.
You have this huge platform where people do their craft for free and you’re not even willing to share it.
Do not engage with this post just to add shitty arguments.
Please do your research! There is so much misinformation out there and a lot of lies.
Everyone should know the truth so please try to know as much as you can so you can spread awareness and help!
