This whole thing started as a joke and then turned into me and good friend (@verit) bouncing ideas off each other. Based on out talks (and seriously, Verit’s like my co-writer at this point lol) I have couple more parts planned for The Answer (maybe not THIS long, it was a heck of a work to draw!), and I intend to continue it in near future. So… no spoilers. 8′) BUT in case life gets in the way or I lose interest I would be sure to write up what I had planned. I would hate to leave it unfinished.

I mean, at this point I'm absolutely not surprised since Tanaka was unpopular even before becoming the only "canon confirmed hetero" in the HQ final arc lmao, but ngl it IS funny. Some very popular ships wish they had a piece of canon food like this, it'd be redrawn to hell and back haha. (Not that it really matters in the end, ppl like what they like, me encluded.)

I wanna hear all your thoughts about tanasuga soulmate!!!!! I’m planning out a fanfic on a03 for them and I’d love to get more perspectives on their dynamics!!!!

Oh gosh, I have a lot of thoughts tho, lmao.

I believe tanasuga is a very versatile pairing in some sense - there’s a lot of different ways to write them that would still feel in character, and with different dynamic too, so it depends on what exactly you want to write. There are different kinds of soulmate fics too! Basically, I think you can make anything work with them. Depending on circumstances I can see them falling in love but keeping quiet because they both fear other ppl may be their/other’s soulmates (tananoya and daisuga), but I also can see them trying to defy the fate and fighting if they unexpectedly become or discover they are soulmates. Etc, etc, you have a lot of options! I say - just go with what you think would be the most interesting dynamics. ♥

I’ll throw some random ideas your way with different types of dynamics, hope it helps:

- you have a tattoo of the first words your soulmate says to you AU - Tanaka has something absolutely ridiculous and long on him, like a string of swearing or some silly pop lyrics or something so he’s super embarrassed about it and won’t show it to anyone, despite teasing and all, and Tanaka decided long ago he’s going to give a piece of mind to his crappy soulmate whenever he meets them so they could match, but then he meets Suga and he’s so surprised (by combination of what Suga says despite how pretty he is or by situation, etc.) that all he manages in reply is something very common and basic. He keeps the fact that he’s Suga’s soulmate a secret too, deeply confused by the whole deal. Meanwhile Suga always had this one-two basic common words on him so he doesn’t believe in soulmates at all and he’s sure he would never find his soulmate. (damn, now I wanna lunch doodle that lmao)

- you instantly know who’s your soulmate when you touch them AU with a twist that the feeling can come to you sometime in your teens (16-19??) for some reasons like growing up and maturing and stuff lmao, someone gets it sooner, someone later idk, so even if you already met and touched in your teens but one or both of you don’t get it yet you may not realize you’re soulmates. SO Tanaka is absolutely 120% sure Kiyoko is his soulmate, but he does not dare touch her, ever. and Suga knows Tanaka is his soulmate, but keeps quiet because 1) Tanaka doesn’t have the feeling yet so he doesn’t wanna pressure him 2) Tanaka is in love with Kiyoko.

- you feel what your soulmate feels AU - as in, some physical stuff and some emotions, but it’s all very vague so it’s hard to connect to a particular person. and Karasuno has several ppl who feel similar stuff when they play volleyball, and all synchro attacks don’t help lmao, anyway tanasuga soulmates who already like each other and both desperately trying to figure out if they are actually soulmates or if it’s someone else on the team (asanoya, kagehina and ennodai can be other soulmate pairs in this one, or any other pairings you like). ((oh, it can also be that the feelings/emotions sharing could get stronger the more time you spend together, so those soulmate pairs who found each other become these cool power couples who are ‘whole’. damn, now I wanna write more of this setting too lmao))

Well, that’s the question! It’s really hard for me to come up with headcanons, to be honest. How people usually write headcanons, it feels more like ultra-short fluffy fics or fic ideas, and my ideas end up as either comics or arts. So first of all… *gestures at own tanasuga art* …check the comics out. Please do jump in if you find it to your liking! 8′)

As for headcanons, the way I usually do them, it’s these vague short ideas that often include other people and other people’s reaction to a couple. Let’s see if I’d manage to come up with anything that’s not already stored in the comic ideas corner:

Suga thinks Tanaka is cute, period. Truly it could take a person some time to see it, but Suga managed and can’t unsee, so now he’s doomed to die inside every time Tanaka unknowingly does something silly or endearing;

Helping Hinata and Kageyama got them closer to each other. Unexpectedly becoming some kind of a godfathers to a pair of dense 1st years can do that to people. Also Tanaka’s doting on Hinata, Suga - on Kageyama, and they see it in each other and respect that in a kind of a “I relate to that” way;

Tanaka is the softest boyfriend. The Softest ™. All the gentle embraces and tiny kisses, holding hands, soft hair pats, warm hugs from behind with his chin on Suga’s shoulder… damn, I gotta draw that. 8P Also, Tanaka is a good cook, you can’t change my mind;

For all his loudness and shirt-off-attitude, Tanaka is the shy one, and Suga is the shameless (the reason for this one is probably that I’d love to see Tanaka wrecked >8));

Daichi shoud’ve seen that coming, them getting together, he admists he’s been willingly oblivious, because he hates dealing with relationship stuff inside the team, even if it’s unavoidable at times. They may look like an unexpected pair, but Daichi sees the same stubbornes, loyalty and fire Tanaka brings to court every time he refuses to be broken by bad plays in Suga, who stayed with the team despite losing his regular position and came up with tactics and supportive advises for his peers that let Karasuno become a better team and keep winning.
