Some people think Sirius loved Remus despite his lycanthropy. wrong. Sirius loved Remus WITH his lycanthropy. He accepted and loved this side of Remus with everything he had. Sirius loved Remus, lycanthropy and all.
Peter: How do I get people to like me?
Sirius: You can't make everyone like you, you aren't Remus.
Peter: What? I mean not everyone likes Remus.
James *popping up from nowhere*: Who?

It’s a clever code that allows them to speak on occasion, just enough for Sirius to know that his little brother still loves him, that he hasn’t lost him quite yet.
