He always knew something was off.

           The first time Anakin Skywalker can remember looking into a mirror, he remembers being so perplexed by the different colors of his eyes. His right, a striking cerulean that put the oceans to shame. The other, a beautiful and unique shade of (Y/E/C). He immediately ran to his mother, confused and slightly afraid of what the different colors could mean.

           To this day, his heart aches at the kind smile Shmi Skywalker had given him as she led him to sit at the table, softly explaining the reason for such a feature. She had shown him how her eyes were also different, something he had never taken the time to notice before. He could never look passed the tiredness that shadowed her features.

           But as he looked closer that day, he saw how one of her eyes was a deep brown color, the color she had inherited from her own parents, and the other was a shade of blue. Paler than his own, and not quite as vibrant. Almost like the sky on a cloudy day.

           The concept of soulmates was slightly difficult for him to grasp. But as his mother kept explaining it, it made more sense. Seeing as he had grown up without a father and his mother, being a slave, had never been romantically involved with other men, the thought of a relationship between two people other than friendly or familial was foreign.

           And then he met Padmé.
