Starting a new book because being in the middle of four books simply isn't enough for me.

The rich smell of coffee, speaking in code, not being able to put a book down, candelabras in long hallways, pushing your glasses up over and over, notes and poetry covering your walls.
“Talk nonsense, but talk your own nonsense, and I’ll kiss you for it. To go wrong in one’s own way is better than to go right in someone else’s.”
— Fyodor Dostoyevsky
hufflepuff: terracotta pots, wooden stepladders and shelves, stacks of cards from friends, sunlight filtering through vines and glass, spooning honey into warm milk, big straw hats with satin ribbons, honeycomb-printed walls
ravenclaw: stars in a watercolour sky, brass knockers on old oak doors, purple mist covering the world, stained glass fragments, biscuits on an old porcelain plate, capturing memories in a copper jar, fireflies in a dark field
slytherin: ice on a green lake, heavy curtains, exhaling translucent clouds into cool air, tall ferns in a wintry plain, considering the future at night, peppermint plants, shaking and rolling dice, carpets of emerald moss
gryffindor: velvet banners, spinning golden coins, carving initials into dark oak tables, freshly baked pastry and tart fruit, wind whipping limestone cliffs, meeting at midnight, candles burning through the night, baskets of picked cherries
Alternate universe where I literally just to go to school forever (for free) so I can just learn about art and literature and history and languages for 100 years. No job skills. No credit requirements. No student loans. Just learning.
Fuck this. I’m gonna just frequent a cafe and sit by the window with a classic, whose title wouldn’t appear on the cover page, and sip my coffee looking outside until I bewitch someone body and soul by my mysterious aura.
dark academia/classic lit community we need to do better, you cannot call yourself well read after only reading one perspective. READ AUTHORS OF COLOR, especially black authors in this time, and always. if we love learning so much, we need to educate ourselves, the white-male focus of these communities is shameful and needs to change.
Ravenclaw: listening to the rain, cozying up in a warm blanket, visiting a farmer’s market, walking under colorful trees
Slytherin: wearing cozy sweaters, listening to leaves crunch as you walk, staring a bonfire, cooking a warm meal
Hufflepuff: lighting candles, staying in bed and reading, baking apple pie, decorating the house in fall colors
Gryffindor: curling up by the fire, drinking hot cider, jumping in leaves, walking under the moonlight
Deaf Ravenclaw students learning to translate spells into sign language and going on to become pros at wandless magic because you can’t hold a wand while using sign language. They invent their own spells that involve really subtle hand movements - they look like they’re just twiddling their thumbs but they’re actually cursing your hair to fall out. They’re terrifying dueling partners in DADA. And they charmed the eagle statue outside the common room to have magical subtitles and respond to sign language.
