so trump’s hiding in a bunker after anonymous threatens to reveal all the evidence that proves that he is a pedophile and has sex with children? AND because minorities were protesting for basic fucking rights?

imagine what he’d have done if we actually had a war in January. maybe some of us should rethink our decisions the next time the election rolls around

okay so apparently there are SOME dumbasses in the black butler fandom that still think grell is a male. so uh, this is targetted towards the people who think grell is a uwu gay white boy because i got some NEWS FOR YOU

so: grell. is a trans mtf, and don’t even try to argue about it, because the writer of the series, Yana Toboso, points. it. out. very clearly. evidence:

Okay So Apparently There Are SOME Dumbasses In The Black Butler Fandom That Still Think Grell Is A Male.

THIS IS LITERALLY ALL THE PROOF YOU NEED!! I should not be arguing about this because it is clearly said in the manga that grell, sweet lady, is a female (trans, but ultimately female). the people who argue this are most likely people who are so obsessed with grell and sebastian yaoi that they absolutely despise the thought of her being a woman, even it she wants to. now, normally, this shouldn’t be a problem, but it is, and here’s why.

if the fans can’t accept grell as a female when she CLEARLY says she wants to be a female and says “the thing i want to do most is to have a sex change”, how are they to accept a regular mtf human being? “no!! you’re a cute uwu gay man its okay!!” no!! accept people for their preferred genders/pronouns and throw your sebastianXgrell yaoi in the dumbster fire. i’m not even in this fandom, my friend was telling me about it and i got really pissy about it. this beautiful lady deserves more respect and love for who she is, as do all the trans kids out there. also! i’m not saying shipping her with sebastian is bad- buddy, i don’t care about this fandom enough to care about that ship (just don’t ship sebastian and ciel that’s DISGUSTING), just don’t ship them together and call it yaoi when it isn’t. my friend found the image and did the circling.

not a dream

A Ghanaian celebrity who lives and works in South Korea named Sam Okyere is facing extreme backlash and racism, with comments such as, “Go back to your country,” being thrown at him for daring to call out racism and saying that (some) Koreans can be ignorant on that topic and need to be educated, which can be hard, thus proving his point completely with their extreme reactions. He spoke out on social media about a situation regarding a certain school in South Korea that seems to have a history of blackface in their graduation photos, calling them out, and a lot of Koreans responded with things like, “So, blackface is racist now???” among many insults and horrible comments thrown at him, and they  attacked him for sharing the photo of the students, which he only did AFTER media outlets already shared them without blurring their faces.

Not A Dream

Some Koreans are asking for him to be “sent back home” and for his shows and works to be boycotted, saying that he has ruined their international reputation for for daring to write a post about their racism in English as well as Korean, not realizing that they’re doing that themselves by refusing to acknowledge faults, refusing to be educated and throwing temper tantrums when people call out abhorrent behavior. The racism and xenophobia really jumped out.

His social media has been bombarded with hate and racism and he has been forced to apologize due to the strong and extreme backlash, because apparently, if the guy who was in the original coffin dance video says that the recreation images like this are okay for him, that means the whole black community thinks that way and nobody has any right to say otherwise or try to educate people on the history of blackface and why it’s racist, or else they’ll be destroyed. Even journalists who jumped to his defense and tried to explain the situation and educate folks on why it was wrong for people to attack him, have received mass hate.

If you can, please leave a positive message on his Instagram (LINK HERE) so we can combat hate with love and show racist and ignorant people that their behavior is in no way okay and that there’s more of us that there is them!

Sam Okyere is a wonderful man and he doesn’t deserve any of this.

Today marks the first day of Pride 2020.

It also marks the seventh day of protests held in honor of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery. It’s been 634 days since Botham Jean was murdered by a police officer, 233 days since Atatiana Jefferson was fatally shot by a police officer, 2,123 days since Michael Brown was fatally shot by a police officer, and 2,146 days since Eric Garner was choked to death by a police officer.

It has been five days since Tony McDade, a Black trans man from Florida, was shot and killed by a police officer.

At the time of this post, it has been almost 19 hours since David McAtee was shot and killed by the authorities.

This week has served as a stark reminder that those who have power in this country wield it recklessly and violently against Black people, non-Black POC, and trans people. For some, the power is found in their badge. In others, it’s their skin tone, their socio-economic status, their cisgender privileges, or any other number of privileges one can have. In 2018, with at least 26 trans people who were murdered, all but one were trans women, and all but one were people of color. According to data collected by Human Rights Campaign, this pattern is all too common. It should also be noted that the number of trans people who are murdered is grossly underreported, with many families and newspapers often misgendering those who can no longer speak up for themselves.

On June 28, 1969, the Stonewall riots began as a response to the constant police raids of nightlife establishments frequented by the LGBTQIA+ community. That night sparked a revolution, with many eye-witnesses crediting Black and Latinx trans women for being brave enough to ignite what would become one of the most pivotal nights in LGBTQIA+ history. Without Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, there would have been no uprising. Without them, there would be no Pride.

At this moment, it would be tone-deaf and insensitive to commemorate Pride in the same celebratory fashion we usually do. Instead, we’re asking you to make the commitment to better the lives of the oppressed. Do the work to become actively anti-racist if you are not Black. Spread the word that Black lives matter. Spread the word that trans people deserve to feel safe wherever they go. Reblog this post, make your own, or find someone in your life who doesn’t understand and do your best to make them understand. Donate if you can.

The first Pride was a riot. We stand with you.

Are you struggling to sift through all of the information surrounding the pandemic?

Check out NAMLE’s brand new graphic series “5 Ways to Cope with the News: Pandemic Edition” created in collaboration with Tumblr and Tumblr Creatr Ellis Van Der Does.

One thing we’ve learned from COVID-19 is that media literacy has never been needed more. As we deal with the pandemic, we also face an “infodemic”—an overabundance of information that makes it difficult for people to identify factual and trustworthy sources from false or misleading ones.

Media literacy can protect us by helping us navigate the flow of information. It teaches us how to ask questions, be skeptical, and be cautious about the information we take in.

Media literacy is the ability to ACCESS, ANALYZE, EVALUATE, CREATE, and ACT using all forms of communication.

In its simplest terms, media literacy builds upon the foundation of traditional literacy and offers new forms of reading and writing. Media literacy empowers people to be critical thinkers and makers, effective communicators and active citizens.

About NAMLE

The National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing media literacy education, guided by the following mission:

As the leading voice, convener and resource for media literacy education, NAMLE aims to make media literacy highly valued and widely practiced as an essential life skill.

What just happened on CNN? Im at work and so wasn’t somewhere I could watch

Sure I’ll sum up.

So there was a very good peaceful protest by.... Lafayette Park? Right outside the White House. They were chanting, they had multiple reporters in the crowd, it was fucking CHILL, people were waiting for Trump to do a speech in the Rose Garden.

Then, out of nowhere, truly NOWHERE, the cops closed in from three directions and threw gas into the crowd. They used rubber bullets on the crowd IMMEDIATELY. One dude told the reporter “They don’t care about news, move.” They drove out the totally fucking peaceful, pre-curfew protestors.

They moved them all out, and Trump started speaking, and you could hear the fucking gas going off over his speech. CNN fucking did a splitscreen to show the peopple being shoved back as the motherfucker stood up there and said he would protect our rights and would mobilize the military against people.

Then back to the reporters, and everyone was forced further and further away. One woman on a bike told the reporter “They are getting the water cannons ready, you wanna move.”

TURNS OUT.

ALL OF THIS.

WAS BECAUSE TRUMP WANTED A PHOTO OP AT THE CHURCH ACROSS THE STREET. HE WANTED THEM OUT OF THE WAY SO HE COULD STAND WITH A BIBLE IN FRONT OF A CHURCH.

Even CNN is calling him a dictator, at 7PM.

Then the Illinois governor came out and called him a racist, xenophobic, misogynistic failure.

ETA: OH AND AFTER THE FACT one of the CNN ppl said that the cops claimed they gave three warnings to the crowd to disperse. There were reporters literally in the crowd, and didn’t mention hearing anything along those lines and where as shocked as anyone when the crowd was forced to move. So they’re fucking lying.
