Moral Orel is an amazing show and you should watch it

Id like to talk about Clay as a father,

(I dont have my thoughts together about this so bear with me)

So everyone knows hes a horrible father, but i think that in his own twisted way he tried to break the cycle, which allowed Orel to become the father he was shown as in the last episode.

Now, obviously it took Clay some time to actually try to be a father, because until Orel was 4 he neglected him, i like to think because the thought of being the same thing as his father was too much for him, but neglecting was also too much and he couldnt admit thats what he was doing, so he was torn and felt worthless. (Clay literally says he didnt know how to be a father in trust)

In Passing you can see how Arthur was hurting by Angelas death and took it all out on Clay by hitting him, which clay saw as approval. Now with Orel, Clay does so much more than that. While Arthur basically threw old gunny in Clay's face and said "fuck off", Clay actually took Orel hunting. (Or attempted to) and because Arthur didnt take Clay hunting as a kid, Clay drank, a lot more than he usually does. (He always has a glass in his hand, but in Nature he was just chugging bottle after bottle) It could also probably be because he didnt have any responsibilities except for killing animals, so he could drink and relax but i like to think its because it was hard for him to do anything father and son related when he didnt know how fathers are supposed to act.

Also, Clay states "If i can prepare you for the bleakness of adulthood, i've done my job" which i think he had to figure out on his own, with no mother and a father who doesnt care about him. So, again, in a way, he tried to be a better father than Arthur.

ALSO!! the fact that Clay never tells Orel "I love you" back probably shows that he doesnt know how to say it, so thats probably something Orel picked up from Bloberta, im just not sure in which instance she would ever say "I love you" to her family, because she doesnt love them. (Other than trying to prove Orel wrong, like them pretending to love each other in Grounded and Gods Blunders.)

I think that when Clay was saying something and trying to piss Arthur off, he was trying to say "I love you" and when Arthur hit him back, he took it as "I love you too, son" but eventually, Clay saw it for what it actually was, which is dementrated in Trust because he actually states that he feels worthless when in his fathers presence. In fact, the only time Clay ever says "I love you" in when in the presence of another man, to another man.

I think Orel tries to see this, too, despite his hurt from Clays abuse becuase i believe whole heartedly that he lets his children see Clay and Bloberta, if he didnt he wouldnt put a picture of them on the wall next to Block and Shapey.

I have more thoughts on this but this is just too messy and im not normal about anything in this show

(Side note, in Sacrifice Clay is walking out of his study and copys Shapey when he says yummy, and interaction is only something that happened before Angela died, i cant see anything positive happening between Clay and Arthur after Angela died so uh yeah)

what is jack’s deal? [theory/speculation]

Now, we’ve been wondering I think for quite awhile, what is Sunny Day Jack’s DEAL? And I think I have the answer for it. Jack is now getting what he wants. A peaceful and domestic life. Now, from what we’ve seen of Joseph, Joseph hasn’t had an easy life. From what we first saw, Joseph keeps skipping school, has cigarettes on him, and even a knife at one point. 

(Note this all taken from the official Sunny Day Jack twitter and official art that has been made.) From what I’m guessing, Joseph, again did not have a good life. My thoughts are Joseph was probably being abused by his parents/parent/guardian. The pysch dude, who is the psych consultant for the Sunnytime Crew Show, said that Joseph seemingly wanted attention. I think he is right, in some cases. Because, again, getting a lot of tattoos at a young age, could be him just want them for himself, Joseph did say young him didn’t know any better, but this is Joseph. Joseph, now as Jack doesn’t want to be forgotten. He wants MC’s eyes only on him. I think he was hoping for a “oh shit, something is wrong with this kid. let’s help him.” type thing. The next type of thing we see with Joseph is that, he was seeing leave his high school, and got to a train via foot.

My guess for why Joseph left his town was because, again, a common thing of Joseph/Jack is going away, changing himself, and having a new chance at life. Joseph has been probably homeless/hitchhiking up into his early 20′s. From an official art we’ve seen, we see Joseph being a hitchhiker and with the caption read “You do what you go to do to get by.”

From what we’ve seen, Joseph did eventually get picked up by someone and headed all the way up to El Paso, Texas. This is where he changed his named from Joseph Cullman to Joseph Haberdae or Jack Haberdae. I say Jack because the psych dude only calls Joseph by “Mr. Habedae” not by his first name. I also think it’s quite interesting that Joseph changed his last name to the last name of his high school. Now, we get into Joseph picking up his job at a new, hit 80′s children show as Sunny Day Jack on the Sunnytime Crew Show.

Please keep the years 1982 and 1984 in mind. These are the most prominent dates for Joseph/Jack, and possible the other characters involved, especially for my later on speculation for MC. Now, suffice to say, in the tapes, we know Joseph isn’t doing too hot with his new role as Jack. We always see Joseph being exhausted, tired, and looking sleep deprived. I think it’s clear that the studio behind the Sunnytime Crew Show overworked, make their works basically not sleep, and didn’t pay them enough for their jobs.

Not to mention, Joseph is pretty much always seen smoking. I think Joseph uses vice to help him cope with past trauma and his current stresses in life. Those being cigarettes, alcohol, and pills. We see pills placed out on the menu screen, alcohol is oddly mentioned in the “bad recipe” and we always see Joseph smoking. Now, considering Joseph was the face of this brand new kids show, this Dan news guy asking umcomfy questions about his personal life via for what is basically for kids, shitty working conditions, the psych guy drilling it into Joseph’s head that he’s basically gonna be this nation-wide babysitter and how “you’re gonna be better at it than most mother’s in America”, and basically acting a replacement for kids who don’t have a dad, needs someone, or just a replacement parent for awhile. Yeah, that’s…

That is a LOT for someone to burden and carry on their own. Not to mention, just for such a short time, too? Can you imagine how stressed and tired Joseph be? Now, here’s the part of where MC is connected to all of this. Through the Visual Novel, and seeing the official artwork and twts of Joseph, I think Joseph and MC used to be a thing back in the 80′s.

Now, before you get on me. This is a theory, theories can be proven wrong. And yes, this is before the Visual Novel is even out. But there’s still a lot within the extended demo we can go off on. From a picture way back, Jack comments on how MC reminds him of an old flame. Hmm, an old flame. Aimed at MC. Whom he is so in love and obsessed with. It makes sense, when you think about it.

From what we’ve seen, Joseph’s death was pretty fucking brutal. It was also in front of kids, and  Knackerdan Drizzle’s actor. For those who don’t know, Knackerdan Drizzle is one of the many characters in the Sunnytime Crew Show.

He’s the dude on the bottom left corner. Cloudy Belle Sue’s actress was in the make up room when it happened. It traumatized his actor so much, he just had to quit the show/series all together.

But they also had signed NDA’s about it. They couldn’t even talk about Joseph’s existence. They couldn’t even have a funeral for the guy. Which, yeesh, that’s just… harsh man. That’s harsh. Now, back to MC. I think Joseph’s saving graces and what kept him going on what his own Sunshine. Maybe they also lived in a apartment and knew each other for a long time, not to mention, Joseph is so fucking uncomfortable during the whole… “Are you single? (;” maybe it’s because it is on public air, via his job/as a child’s mascot, but my God. Imagine you have a S/O that you keep private because you don’t want the media to hound them and they keep going and on and on about single mothers and blah, blah, blah.

They were his Sunshine. That one thing that kept him going, and kept him moving forward. But you know who else we haven’t talked about? Rory Raspberry. I think he was involved with Joseph’s death. Cloudy Belle and Knackerdan comment on how Joseph was truly a good guy, and we know Joseph did really take his job seriously and loved kids. Hell, Joseph admitted he DID want kids, when he had the time and resources for it. 

Here’s what I think happened: Y’all remember that local show Jack said on the Dan’s guy radio show? I think that’s where his death occurred. I think the studio was also doing some theme park thing, too? Because where Jack died, it DOES look like a school house, of some kind.You wanna know who wasn’t there, giving his statement on Joseph’s death? Jean Laurent. Rory Raspberry’s actor.

Looks like Ian, eh? Here’s what I think happened. Jean was like. Jealous of Joseph and there was bickering back and forth with them. Jean was jealous of the praise and approval of Joseph so much, he wanted that for himself. So he, when he had the chance to kill Joseph, he did. I think Jean got him with a blunt weapon or a gun, because Jack’s left eye is always covered or it’s just… pitch black. 

But second? That’s… an interesting one, I’ll say that. But in the ties with MC, I think MC died during this time period and reincarnated into their present selves. Look, if we can see, touch, feel, and have sex with this ghost, I don’t think reincarnation is out of the question. It would also be good enough time gap, for it too. Joseph was 25 when he died. Making MC, Ian, and Shaun 25. So, all of them would have to been born in 1997 or so. And this is where I think Joseph slowly went from the down-to-earth, troubled vagabond, who was a chill guy into the clingy, and helpful, manipulative Jack we all know. I think Joseph’s death, obviously traumatized him. Jack was stuck in a tape for 30 years. He didn’t get to live his life with the person he loves the most in the world. Once you pick up the tape, it’s a new beginning for both of you.

He can put behind Joseph and just be… Sunny Day Jack. Jack doesn’t have trauma, addictions, or never left you all alone, until you die. You guys can start over. No one needs to know. Not even you.

Another thing I would like to point out: I think Jack’s goal is to become physical again, to become alive again. I was always so weirded out wtf “forever” meant for Jack. I think it’s for him to become physical again. The only thing I can back this up is that Jack can feel and touch you, vice versa, but only YOU can see him. MC and Jack’s souls are like. Linked. Jack can feel what you feel, and he can read your thoughts. 

While I do think Jack is a ghost, I think he’s in some sort of limbo state. He’s alive, but he’s also a ghost at the same time. Seriously. The dude still has to work out, despite being a ghost and “wanting to look good for you.”

Resulting in Ian’s own abandonment issues, and tbh, Ian is a great foil for Jack. But I wanna write about that at a later date.
