It got even bigger this week đ
Y'all have been going crazy with the support, thank you so much. This is actually insane.
I will never get over how utterly absurd Hanako's fantasies about Yashiro are. As...Hanako-esque as they are, I think it's somewhat cute how Yashiro is still the most beautiful girl to him. We don't really see him fantasize about anyone but her.
(Hanako for real said, "I'd let her buy me," I can't---)
That's not even talking about how quickly he FOLDS whenever she does take charge
At this point, Hanako just wants Yashiro to overpower him, that's it
He totally does. That eyeliner be on fleek.
You cannot convince me he doesn't wear eyeliner and eyeshadow and shit
Hope your toe feels better. Maybe tomorrow you'll have better luck 'getting your foot in the door' :P
I HIT MY TOE i wanted tumblr to know that
I know Iâm really late to the party when it comes to this, but I feel like if no one else is gonna say it, I will. Nanami seriously deserves MUCH better than ANY of the male love interests in this seriesâESPECIALLY Tomoe. Yep. She does. Sorry not sorry. At this point, I genuinely feel like all I'm doing is stating the utter obvious and I'm gonna lose it if anyone says otherwise.
Before we go any further, I wanna make it clear I havenât read the manga for Kamisama Kiss, Iâve only watched the anime. So everything I am mentioning is going to be based on stuff that happens in the ANIME. I watched this when I was 12. And now as a 20 year old woman looking back on it eight years later, I can say with my whole front chest that Tomoe and Nanami are a terrifying asphalt of a couple. Tomoe is TERRIBLE love interest to the point where I think he's actually worse than Edward Cullen.
The OVA is something that deserves its own topic due to the APPARENT supposed âcomplexityâ that defenders of the ship will say is there (despite it being very clear what the truth actually was). But for the sake of not putting up with more bullcrap than I already have to by even mentioning the initial topic, I think there is one scene we can all agree that is absolutely NOT justifiable by any meansâno matter how you look at it. Because some of us apparently donât agree on the OVA, but Iâm VERY sure we can all agree on this.
Thereâs an episode where Tomoeâpretending to be a male student at Nanamiâs schoolâthe emo black winged guy (canât be bothered to remember his name because heâs literally another liability just like every other male character in this showâif not all of them) tells Tomoe to be cautious around Nanami because teenage girls tend to fall in love easily (Iâm paraphrasing here, but you get the point).
Tomoe acts in denial about it and is like, âPfft, not Nanami. Sheâs smarter than that.â Which, admittedly, would be a more wholesome moment if the following/previous context didnât exist. Based on this alone, you probably know what Iâm going to be talking about.
Nanami asks Tomoe out to the aquarium (not that heâs too aware of it being a date) and near the end of it, Nanami and Tomoe are on the rooftop of a building during the night. I know, soooo romantic (ugh). Tomoe then asks if Nanami is falling for him, to which Nanami confirms she isâmuch to the hypocritical chagrin of Tomoe (considering he marries her much later on in the series).
So what does Tomoe do since he doesnât want to return her feelings? Does he calmly reject her? Does he explain it would be unprofessional? Does he at the very least say, âNo.â and then leave with no closure? Newsflash, the answer to all of that is no because he then picks this 16 year old girl up with one arm, holds her on the open side, and WALKS ON THE OPEN EDGE OF THE BUILDING.
Nanami, obviously emotionally jumbled, starts questioning him and asking if he ever thought she was cute. During this âconversation,â this piece of absolute SHIITAKE MUSHROOM then proceeds to DROP her.
âOh, he dropped her on accidentââ Yeah, but hereâs the thing. It happened because this crazy turd was holding her near the edge of a building IN THE FREAKING FIRST PLACE. What sane person rejects someoneâs feelings by HOLDING THEM on the EDGE of a 50 STORY BUILDING and then is surprised when they inevitably drop them?
Even if he DIDNâT, the fact he even DID IT at ALL tells me a LOT about who Tomoe is as a person. In what universe would this concept EVER fly? Would yâall be okay with this if it were a man were to actually do this to a woman and then his excuse was, âI didnât mean to drop her?â BRUH, YOU WERE STILL HOLDING HER NEAR THE FREAKING LEDGE, WHAT DID YOU THINK WOULD HAPPEN?!
I donât even blame Nanami for telling this man to screw off as she was falling because what the actual heck, bro. I wouldnât want him to touch me, either. At this point, I legitimately would rather Tomoe not respond, jump off the building, and dip. Heâd still be a horrible jerk for that, but at least he wouldnât have HELD HER OVER A BUILâ
I donât care what anyone says or any other things that happen later on. âOh, itâs just fantasy, itâs just fiction.â
I can tell you one thingâif you fantasize or gain entertainment from the concept of a man throwing an innocent woman off a building after he rejects her, I donât think youâre okay. Why would you want that?
Obviously with Kamisama Kiss being a supernatural series, of course there are some logistics that we throw out the windowâlike the fact that it was somehow okay for Tomoe to propose to Nanami when she was a kid (oh yeah, I didnât forget that gross mess). But there are just some objective realities I feel CANNOT be ignored simply for the sake of plot. And the objective reality is that you are wrong if you think that a guy holding a girl off the ledge of a building is something that can be ignored.
I donât expect stories or couples to be perfect. Nothing made from humans is ever going to be perfect. But you got me messed up if you think Iâm gonna look past a guy grabbing a teenage girl like a wine barrel and holding her off the edge of a BUILDING.
So what I got is: he's short, unpopular, has big eyes, and can throw hands.
Nene, babe, you're only giving pros and no cons here.
Does anyone have some horribly bad romance Wattpad stories, books, or romance movies for me to watch and make fun of?
This scene was special to me because while we could say a lot about Jinshi blushing because heâs startled or MaoMaoâs purely clinical concern for his health, I think thereâs also an interesting dual perspective going on here.
When MaoMao strips to keep from catching cold she says that sheâll keep her undergarments on cause even though itâs âjust a set of skinny ribsâ sheâd like to conceal what she can. To me, even though itâs a small comment, that came across like she finds herself so unappealing and thin. Switch to when sheâs checking Jinshi for fever.
He blushes and looks at her. We then get this image of her from his eyes and itâs not an impression of a young woman whoâs frail with skinny ribs, to him sheâs beautiful. Slight but pretty. Weâre meant to know heâs taken with her. All this is about how the other perceives themselves. MaoMao sees herself as thin from being a working class girl but Jinshi perceives her as lovely. Jinshi sees his beauty as a tool but MaoMao, while acknowledging it, moves past it to the man underneath who needs her care and concern.
Itâs about the person, for both of them. Thatâs how they bring value to one another because what they donât see in themselves, the other sees perfectly. đ
She is an icon. She is a legend. And she IS the moment.
Yeah, I already made a whole post about that mess. It's kinda sad we won't really get to see this dynamic again where he was all cute and helpful. I wish we could, but I'm not too hopeful it will. Fortunately and unfortunately, this is why we have fanfiction.
I miss it where he was this gentle guide who playfully reprimanded her for stuff but still ultimately had a sweet spot for her. He still does but now he's gone down the way of the yandere.
I may ship these two but whoooo doggy does Hanako need someone to smack him with a relationship book.
I really like revisiting the earlier chapters after reading the newer ones because it helps give new perspective on the earlier interactions of these two.
The way how Hanako speaks to Yashiro, even from the beginning of their partnership, is so cute and sweet in a way I don't know how to explain. Sure, he's definitely still a jerk at times, but the general manner in which he interacts with her makes me smile like an idiot.
I like how he's not even angry or too upset with her, he's simply like, "Stop the cap. Just fess up and I'll help."
Whenever Hanako does stuff like that, I can't help but jokingly think of the song White Tee by Summer Walker because that meme is just ingrained into my head due to how much it was overused
I know this is supposed to be foreshadowing
But man, the rizz this guy can have sometimes
Hi. I like stuff :)I am unable to donate---sorry I'm a brokie
