Fit flinches as he feels the familiar sting of a blade piercing skin.

He turns in a flash, shield up and axe immediately in hand - his distraction's already cost him and he'll not let another second pass like that.

He's met with a tired, but determined pair of eyes. Familiar eyes.

Pac.

Fit blocks the next blow with his shield.

Well, that disperses with the uncertainty, he supposes. They both know what's at stake. And Pac's not looking to waste any opportunity - no matter what they might be to each other.

(Friends. Very good friends. That's all.)

Fit sighs with fake contentment as something in him settles in that familiar, cold place. There's nothing off the table anymore - and noone, either.

Just like the wasteland.

"Well, if that's how you want it, Pac," he says, utterly calm, as he switches to offensive.

LU Dawn Lore

I don’t think this is headcanoning anymore, I’m just kind of making up my own lore for Dawn at this point. I hope somebody enjoys this!

When I think of Dawn and Zelda 1 and 2 the aesthetic I imagine is like 80s dark fantasy. I really kind of think of Dawn as this She-Ra princess warrior or Mad Max baddie, though I think she might wear more armor or pants if she were to fight somebody.

Moving on- Dawn’s father, the current king of Hyrule, is a no good, dirty rotten, pathetic man. The only reason the royal family has even persisted this long is due to their resources, wealth, and control at this point. They have just enough of Hylia’s blood still running through their veins to have enough power to make sure Ganon doesn’t full snuff them out but it is obvious that Ganon rules this land. Dawn’s father is greatly concerned with his own comfort and a sickening greed.

The royal family owns a vast library that ensures that stay educated enough to maintain control over the few surviving towns in Hyrule. The king enacts harsh taxes over these towns in return for education, access to medicine, and protection. The king has never married and has dozens of bastards across Hyrule. One day he sends out a call for all of his children to convene at the castle.

For Dawn this is easy, her mother is a part of the royal council and she ensured that Dawn grow up in Castle Town. Her father had decided to declare an heir and he decides to do so through a “series of tests” to decide who is most worthy. These tests are mostly just throwing his various children into a Thunderdome type arena and having them fight. This is to his great amusement.

Dawn is HORRIFIED. This is sick. Everyday she fights somebody of her own blood watching as her father laughs and laughs, choking on mead and fruit that rarely grows in these lands. She almost refuses to go, but every night she dreams of a beautiful woman crying tears like stars begging her to try. Begging her to save these lands. Every night this woman whispers wisdom to her and every day Dawn survives another day.

She does her best to spare her siblings where she can. It’s not fair to fight the ones too small to lift a sword or those so thin they sway in the breeze. Many of them use this mercy to leave, go back to their real families. But not all of them. Some have the same greed and madness their father has. The blood of Hylia runs through all of them but it’s partial to Dawn. After a week of this, she emerges victorious and is dubbed as the princess of Hyrule.

Despite being the princess of Hyrule now, Dawn knows that her father doesn’t actually plan on giving her any power whatsoever. This whole heir of Hyrule thing is just to appease some members of the court who are worried about the family line or appearances. She has a sick feeling her father agreed to this just for his amusement.

She takes to eavesdropping and spying to gain as much intelligence as possible. She soon learns that her father is planning to make a deal with Ganon. The known locations of the triforce fragments for safety and riches. Next council meeting she attends, Dawn gets up, walks across the table to her father and beheads him before he can even question what he’s doing. She pulls his crown from his head and declares herself the Queen of Hyrule. For the first time in 700 years, Zelda once again ascends the throne.

She immediately regrets her quick decision and bloody judgement. Her council now listens to her but it’s obvious that they fear her and do not trust her. She is young, only 17. She’s sick and tired of killing by the time her own mother confronts her. There Dawn learns that her mother was more closely working with her father than she had thought. Dawn’s mother had been forming a small cult in worship of Ganon to prepare for his imminent takeover. Dawn’s mother pleads with her to understand her father’s point of view. Dawn thinks that she should probably cut down her mother where she stands but she cannot bring herself to do it, so she banishes her instead. This is the first time Dawn regrets NOT killing somebody. Her mother would only gain strength and followers in the wasteland. Years later her mother’s cult would become an ugly scar on her little brother’s life.

On a small mission to try and form an alliance with a nearby great mother that leads a well hidden fairy fountain, Dawn is captured by Ganon. For months she is terrified and weak, subjected to listening to the snorts and grumbles of an ugly pig who is going to destroy her beloved home. She is greatly unhopeful to be rescued knowing her council has a poorly hidden disliking of her.

The pigs greedy and prideful rambling starts to bleed frustration. Somebody is finding the triforce fragments before he can. Dawn tries not to get her hopes up, but she can’t help herself. To her surprise, a savior comes. Hyrule, in all his 11 year old glory, fights the beast and frees her. Together they render Ganon into nothing but ashes. Another regret of hers for leaving something of him behind.

Of course she takes the boy home, he has many an injury and she has never had so much gratitude for somebody. Dawn decides that she cannot trust her council, especially after she discovers they were the reason she was captured in the first place. She gives them a choice: banishment or execution. Some of them wisely banish theirselves, but some try to fight for Dawn’s seat on the throne. She’s more than ready to fight, but to her shock and horror, her little hero is as well. Together they slay the rest of her court.

She struggles to build a new one, miserable after the little hero is chased out of the castle due to a curse living in his blood. She’s more than pleased when he returns with a small entourage of kind people he’s met over his journey. Impa, a kindly old woman Dawn remembers well from her childhood. A village healer, a kindly knight devoted to the goddesses. A moblin that her hero fervently insists is friendly.

It’s a small start but it’s more than Dawn had ever had before. She’s happy for the first time in forever and the sky over Hyrule looks blue.

Now, I just woke up, it's 3 am and I saw a post talking about q!Cellbit eating chunks out of bad and then I remembered about Bad's body regeneration, so I want you guys to imagine;

Bad and Cellbit are out in the field again. There was one last group that they'd need to kill but the group had gone into hiding. Bad and Cellbit's food supply becoming scarce as time passed by, they had ended up resorting to the bodies that have been left bleeding out. But that was quickly becoming futile as the 'food' that they had been finding was starting to rot with flies all over. Bad didn't need to eat. But Cellbit does. Worried for his friend's well being he set off into the night with nothing but an axe, returning bloodied with a missing limb. Cellbit asked and asked but Bad refused to answer, claiming that "everything was fine" and that he "had just found it in the woods" but he knew the young teen was smarter than that.

LU Maze Runner AU (actually explained this time)

Okay, I got way ahead of myself in my last post 😭 I forgot that maze runner didn’t have the same impact on everybody as it did me. Here’s the actual plot of my AU so that it makes sense to everyone 😭

Hyrule has reached an incredibly advanced age of technology and other sciences. (So think like, hunger games, or any sci-fi movie that takes place like, 200 years in the future.) Most of Hyrule has fallen to a horrible virus called the gloom. This gloom grows through plants and taints water sources.  This virus was engineered by a terrible cult called Demise, a group of people under the control of a man named Ganon who wishes to take control of Hyrule.

In retaliation, a group sponsored by the royal lineage of Hyrule creates a research facility called HYLIA to study ways to take down Demise and fight against the gloom. They take individuals from across Hyrule who show either great resistance, sometimes even immunity to the gloom, and/or significant resistance against the cult of Demise. Demise has some type of brainwashing technology that causes people to either become submissive under its rule or compliant to the cult, often joining it.

Of course in this story the people taken are the boys from the chain and also all the Zeldas. They’re all taken young, at least in the quarter HYLIA that they live in. Most of them were surrendered by their parents but others were either found or taken. HYLIA cannot afford to be kind.

So in essence, everyone is stuck there, but it’s not horrible. They spend a lot of time getting “normal” schooling. They’re subjected to tests but it’s not necessarily like a horror lab AU. They’re not treated like animals or anything but they certainly can’t leave. This of course leads to a lot of resentment from the chain.

Eventually HYLIA starts getting frustrated. They aren’t getting very far with their testing. It just isn’t… natural. One of the key discoveries is that gloom resistance and resistance to Demise mind control is really hard to replicate in practical labs. The labs can’t be unbiased with literally the same exact sample each time. They realize that the only way they can actually get results is through real life experience. But how can they get that when all these people have been living in HYLIA for years?

The Maze is born. It's huge, spanning hundreds of acres of land. In its very center lies the glade, a safe spot of land in the middle of it all, the maze surrounding it. (I’ll try and draw a rough map at some point.) They build two of them. One for the boys, one for the girls. They fill the mazes with genetically engineered monsters that they infuse with low levels of the gloom in order to see how the “participants” react when they fight them.

The mazes are full of different puzzles and beasts so that HYLIA can study the participants and how they react. Through these means, they believe they will understand how to defeat Demise and the gloom.

I mentioned before that they send in each chain member going off of their game release dates. This starts with Hyrule and ends with Wild. They time this just around the span of a full year, sending in a member around a month or two at a time.

Before they send in each member, they completely and FULLY erase their memories so that when they wake up in the glade, all they can remember is their name and age. They do remember how to do things, like math, reading, survival skills, etc. but they don’t know how or when they learned it. Sometimes they might get strong feelings, but that’s all they have. They’re essentially new people once they hit the maze.

I’ll get more into the chain members and dynamics next time! Or I can write about anything you want 💕💕💕 please lmk thoughts!! They keep me motivated

Bad: I remember holding him, and then there was a bright light, and then I felt warm

[Bad: I remember holding him, and then there was a bright light, and then I felt warm.

Bagi: Okay, so you should write that, "we need to find Dapper." Dapper was with you and now we just need to find him.

Bad: Yes! I need to find him.

Bagi: So just write that so you don't forget it. "We need to find Dapper."

Bad: [writing while he talks] Find Dapper, wake him up. Got it!

Bad: Oh! Yeah, he's sleeping right now.

Bagi: No.

Bad: I remember, I carried him!]

you have very good takes <3 a lot of the time I’m split between whether or not I actually ship something or if I just really like a good story and good dynamic. Maybe those are the same thing? But with GanLink I really wish there were more stories for them that explored the dynamic more thoroughly.

I think the way I was imagining their dynamic would be that Ganon is revived as a man, unlike the pig/beast form he’s taken for the past centuries. He would have empathy and emotions this time but he still has a hunger for power. He remembers some of his past, but not very clearly. He takes the weakened hero as a pet, mostly as a show of victory to the crown. He doesn’t realize for some time how badly he desecrated Hyrule in his last reincarnation. He doesn’t like this, at least not anymore. He still wants power, but what is power if you want to enjoy it? This land has nothing to give him, not crops, no art, not even clean water. So he starts gathering resources to start forging this land back into something great again. Something that he can actually feel proud of conquering. All the while he waits for the crown to attack, but they never do. I think Zelda from LoZ 1 would be unique in the way that she’s been a survivor since birth. It’s not like she doesn’t want to rescue Link or defeat Ganon again, but she knows that her kingdom does not have the resources to go to war. She decides to wait for Ganon to do something first and he hasn’t. All the while he’s had Link in a pretty birdcage of a room. He thought this might humiliate him but Link has never been better fed or rested. Oddly enough the hero begins flirting with him. Ganon learns pretty quickly this was just a ploy to draw him in to slay him once again when his guard is down. Oddly enough, the murder attempt is what attracts Ganon’s attention. The hero does start acting more and more like a caged animal after his assassination attempts keep failing while Ganon finds himself feeling more and more like a man (Like as in a person). He then finds himself in the odd position of being in a Cold War with the princess(es), in possession of a slowly maddening hero, and in the process of trying to heal a country he himself destroyed.

I’m sorry 😭 this turned into a short story instead of a response but the questions you asked were so good and I haven’t actually exercised this idea very well until today

thank you <3

Is there a certain version of GanLink that you like best or is it more of the concept itself that you like? I think it’s a really interesting dynamic in general but I think it would be really interesting with a post Adventure of Link Link and a cult revived Ganon.

I am 100% a Hero/Villain shipper if people put in the work to convince me of it, both consensual and not.

Obviously with That Broken Promise, Ganondorf there is a rational person, a good king, the only Triforce wielder with a braincell, and someone that the Curse of Demise had its work cut out for it to warp into doing what it wanted.

But I've also written a lot of Ganondorf's who are still villains, although I personally aim to keep the human-formed version rational with clear and obvious motivations that make sense. I'm only really into omnicidal villains once you leave behind active humanity (Or unless you demonstrate how and why their feelings about the world have been driven over that brink.)

This is only half because it's racist as Hell if you don't; the other half is because it's fucking boring.

eg. Calamity Ganon, a kind of amorphous blob makes sense as an omnicidal villain, as does the Echoes of Wisdom one, but once you drop back into Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf I want to see that at least at one point he still had reason before it became corrupted, if that makes sense?

So on that front, Adventure of Link reviving with a Doll and being picked up by his revived Ganon could work for me in four or five different ways.

Is he revived as a proper man with real emotions and sympathetic cause? Win. Is he revived as a beast that keeps Link as a pet? Win. Is he revived as a man who has rational desires but still likes the idea of a pet hero? Win. Is he revived as an omnicidal force of nature that wants a trophy? Win. Is he revived as a monster and Link's just sick of this world and into that? Win.

Probably a few other ways that I don't much feel like listing on my main, but you can probably guess from my other works too. So I guess in general it's the concept I like: how DO you make these characters work together? How do you build a relationship that feels substantial with that kind of a polarized starting point that doesn't just handwave away the difficult parts?
