or a cage, I want to see them at their worst

I really wanted to write a fic about Badboyhalo and Cellbit's time in the Survival games. Unfortunately I got really busy. I had the entire fic outlined, however, and decided it would be better to post what I have than rather to never let it breath. I really hope everyone enjoys!
I have reason to believe Twilight would be from Kentucky
this is stupid š
I was laying down, having myself a maladaptive daydream session, and couldnāt get this out of my head
hereās which state I think each member of the chain would be from if they were American
Wind is from Hawaiāi and you cannot take that from me. If I were being biased I would say heās from Oahu, but I could also see him being from Kauai. I just really see him as a town rat though growing up in Honolulu. I just think heād love screwing around with tourists and sneaking into resort swimming pools
I think Hyrule would be from Alaska. Something to do with the sheer amount of wildlife and surprising rate of violent deaths that occur there resonate. In all realness tho, I think he would grow up on a frontier or homestead of some type. Maybe he would be a reservation kid
Warriors would be from Virginia. I believe he would grow up surrounded by military communities.Ā I think heād grow up as an Army brat (heād probably move a lot but Virginia is home base to him). Heād get into West Point and follow his familyās footsteps in the military.
Wild would be from Florida. I donāt really feel like I need to explain this one. Heād go barefoot into the Everglades and mess around with wildlife. Heād love petty crime.Ā
Legend is a NYC kid but heās spent every summer of his life visiting family in Boston. He grew up in Queens and has a thick NYC accent. When he comes home from the summer he has a Bostonian accent š he knows the subway like second nature, how to barter, and the best food joints.Ā
Sky is midwestern I think heād grow in Minnesota. Heās also got a strong accent. Very well adjusted to the cold. His idea of a salad is probably not your idea of a salad š¬
I think Twilight would be Texan but Iāve seen strong arguments for him being Appalachian and honestly I canāt decide. No⦠I think heād grow up in Appalachia. Ugh or maybe heād grow up in Montana on a ranch there. I canāt decide. Pls help
I think Time would be Californian but he brings it up never š one day somebody asks him where he grew up and heās just like: Sacramento. The only reason I thought that is bc Sacramento is the city of trees⦠Time gave me lots of trouble. Another possibility is that he just answers with a different city each time heās asked. Maybe heās from Cincinatti š Ohio
Four is so weird. Heās Canadian (ily Canadians). I think heād be from Montreal but has zero accent. Heās fluent in French.
pls feel free to argue with me or offer your own thoughts
Probably my biggest headcanon for LU, and honestly the Zelda games in general, is that Dawn was quite a bit older than Hyrule when he rescued her in Zelda 1.
I think while he was, Iām pretty sure canonically(?), around 10 or 11 she was more so like 17 or 18. I have no canon backing for this or any context at all besides that fact I like it for the following:
Itās no secret that fans of Hyrule and the first two Zelda games in the series have to do a lot of their own world building based off the lack of actual details the games give us. This paints a very lonely picture of Hyrule (in my modest opinion). He has no family members and not really any established friends in the series. Of course itās implied that the Zeldaās probably think highly of him and he does have a few character interactions but the rest is purely left the speculation.
I like the idea of Dawn being quite a bit older than Hyrule because I like thinking that she brought him up as an elder sister to him, leaving him with a family member to return to. I also like the drama that would occur from her being older.
imagine: You are 18 and have been kidnapped by an ancient evil that not even you, the princess bestowed with power from the goddess herself can defeat. (I like to think that Dawn is brawny and tough. She is a princess yes, but she is the princess of a wasteland. She is a survivor with the rest of them.) Youāre furious that this creature is razing your land to even more pieces and you are also disappointed in yourself. You have high expectations for yourself being one of the only figures of authority left in this place. You donāt expect to be rescued, itās a dog eat dog world out here, but you are. And your brave rescuer is 10 years old š
I like to think that sheād be horrified that the only person in this world to try and save their princess is a literal child. So she takes him under her wing and finds that he is quite literally half feral. Like he growls at strangers and doesnāt know basic hygiene. So she takes it upon herself to teach this kid how to live as a proper person š
she feels kind of awful, like sheās stripping away his core as she civilizes this child, but she firmly believes itās for his own good. If he doesnāt know how to clean himself he will fall to infection, even as he bites and screeches as Dawn painstakingly brushes and cuts the mats out of his hair. He hates learning math and reading, it caused him a frustration that not even fighting darknuts had caused him, but without it he canāt read road signs or spell books. Through blood, sweat, and tears Dawn manages to mold Hyrule into a person.
itās not all bad though, she teaches him to forage for medicinal herbs and he takes to it like breathing. He starts smiling at her and rarely, in a hushed croaky voice, he shares conversations with her.
Dawn is the first to fight her own council when they want to cast out her little hero as his blood begins to drawn in beasts. Sheās the first to cry when they donāt give her a choice and her little brother is cast from underneath her arms back into the wastes. he visits occasionally and sometimes she receives a letter, but there isnāt a day that passes that Dawn doesnāt miss those days he spent under her care.
I just really see Hyrule as the type of boy to have a big sister. She forcefully loved him and he learned to be loved.
(I think later on Aurora would be like a little sister to Hyrule giving him a little taste of what Dawn had to put up with him but thatās a different conversation)
I find Dawn really interesting and I feel like I donāt see much of her at all in the fandom. I think thereās a lot of potential in the princess of a wasteland kingdom (as so many people chose to see Rulieās era). In general, I wish I could see more of the Zeldas.
if you have thoughts on any of the Zeldas pls lmk!! I love nothing more than hashing out different thoughts and headcanons
I canāt explain it but vidow is so Yuri coded to me
Maybe itās bc Shadow reminds me of Homura
OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS INCREDIBLE.
the stance.
the multiple shovels.
stepping on the creatures š
the sweat šššš
omg this is wonderful tysm for drawing this I feel so so honored
idk if this has been said before but a headcanon of mine (from my āØpersonal⨠collection) is that before Hyrule met Legend he thought that heād have a sort of Heman (He-Man???) build
Like this ^ before meeting him bc the legends were always saying stuff like āThe hero of Legend could lift BOULDERS with his bare hands!!! He could run faster than an arrow š¤ā
and poor Rulie always felt like such a fraud bc he was using power cuff and rings to aide himself
when he finally meets Legend and finds out heās a slight malnourished twink thatās also been using magic items to aide himself heās so happy and relieved.
thereās also something so special about being able to see yourself in your hero and finding out theyāre not some perfect alpha chad but a genuine person who wasnāt ready to fight but had to blah blah blah
are you frequently overstimulated?
I just finished Minish Cap and I think it gives Four a kind of⦠uniquely angsty start to his adventure compared to the other child soldiers of the chain. (This is not saying his is more angsty, just uniquely so)
What I mean is that thereās kind of⦠the illusion of choice? (Maybe not the best way to describe what I mean) Like okay so: Wind didn't really have a choice, he had to rescue his sister. Who else would do that? His elderly grandmother? Legend didnāt have a choice either, if he didnāt go on his quest he wouldāve been slain. Time had a chosen one thing going on. Then Hyrule⦠he was just given a sword and told to save the princess but like, he did it.
Four has a unique vibe to me compared to the rest of the chain because he was a very normal person. Or normal kid- let me explain š a lot of members in the chain start as your average joe but a lot of them find out theyāre special or theyāre forced into the narrative. Four, however, is literally some kid who they tell to go to the picori for help and like- the whole time I was playing I was just like: I need an adult š
Like this is insane, I know thereās kind of one or two lines that kids can see picori but also thereās the whole thing with the gate to their world being open. They couldnātāve⦠like⦠sent an adult? In Minish cap there is just an abundance of capable adults around the entire time and theyāre all riding your ass about saving Zelda and itās like. I am 10 years old.
I think I just found this funny compared to every other Zelda game because itās just like⦠Obviously Four would want to save his best friend but at the same time itās just⦠they really chose the child out of any other candidate.
I just feel like maybe heād have some bitterness after this quest like damn. These people kept seeing him come back into town. Injured. BEDRAGGLED. And all they have to say is hurry up??? š Iād be PISSED.
I hope this makes sense. If I were Four this would keep me up at night.
tbh, Iām not voting based off politics at all
Baghera is, to me, the obvious choice. Sheās smart, reasonable, and well intentioned, BUT. Is there drama with her winning? I believe woman but sheās just too good of a choice. Iām too messy for that.
Badboyhalo is my personal bbg, but Iām so worried he might go villain mode and my heart canāt take that š I know heās not the same as c!bbh but if he brings Skeppy in I think we all know how easily he can be manipulated and made to be the bad guy. Even without Skeppy, what if they hold Dapper at stake? Bbh is too kind hearted š„ I canāt watch my fav be made to be a bad guy. I do want him exposed to the horrors tho
and then Gegg⦠Gegg might take the cake for me not bc of his policies or Gegg swag, but bc.. who would he bring in? What if he revives Tilin or Juanaflipa and his person? Also I just miss Charlie
Who left a letter written in the enderman language in Sir Francis Drakesā estate and why are you calling me a homosexual?
I know most of the Linkās kind of have ambiguous families or are just straight up orphans but Skyās origins are particularly mysterious to me. Like we intentionally know that Time is an orphan, his mother died getting him into the lost woods. Four has a father and grandfather, Wind has a grandmother and sister, Twilight has an adoptive family (I think?), Legend had/has an uncle, and Wild had a family. Wars doesnāt mystify me as much bc heās working as a soldier, it can be assumed he grew up somewhere else, and Hyrule doesnāt have anyone in his game so he just very much has wandering orphan vibes (Thereās weird non canon stuff from the 80s but I donāt count it).
Sky, however, is surrounded by people in their families. Like everyone else in the academy has a family member yet they donāt ever mention Skyās. Like not even if they had died when he was young or anything, like Sunās mom.
So, I created my own backstory to fill in the gaps as I play Skyward Sword.
I think the people of Skyloft found Sky as a really young child one day just sitting in front of the Goddess statue with a baby loftwing nestled into his side. This is confusing bc nobody has ever seen this child before and thereās no way he could have flown to the island at that age and on a loftwing of that size. So they send search parties looking for his parents but find nothing. The academy takes him in and the island kind of raises him.
I think Sun would bully him as really young kids, sheās very jealous of his close bond with his loftwing. Her father is kind of horrified that sheās bullying the orphaned mute kid so he forces her to be friends with him. She starts feeling really bad for how she treated him and pulls a 180 becoming his biggest defender and best friend. (I donāt think the bullying would be super serious just mean kid stuff)
She tries to teach him sign but he doesnāt seem to be picking it up so they just enjoy quiet company for a while. Randomly, like 4 years after his arrival he just starts talking. Probably something mundane to Sun like: āThe sky is really pretty todayā¦ā and sheād be like: āYeah itās so pink-ā *neck crack* āwhatdidyoujustsayā
And turns out he did pick up the sign she was teaching him he just⦠didnāt want to use it. Then people start asking him questions about how he got to the island but he genuinely canāt remember. He doesnāt even think he remembers his parents. He thinks he can recall a soft voice and strong arms but it might just be something he made up to soothe himselfā¦
And yeah, I think it just remains a mystery.
