Procrastinating writing more so here's sneak peaks of the unedited chapter 1 of this hurt/comfort bbh thing I have going on
I’m not sure how to communicate the next parts very well bc as of up to this point a lot of this AU was more concept and less story but it’s kind of been evolving into a story. I don’t think I have enough plot, or energy, to write an actual fic so I hope this will suffice. I’m gonna try and do this thru bullet points.
I also wanna say that I’m super open to suggestions. If there’s ever stuff you’d rather hear about lmk. I’m always SUPER happy to talk
So here we go:
The beginning:
The maze is announced and almost everybody protests it. Very simply, this is inhumane. Like obviously so. People who aren’t immediately against it are relieved. They’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop for years.
Warriors is probably the only person who isn’t against it from the get go. He’s one of the only people, Artemis being the only other, that’s been raised in HYLIA since birth. He thinks that he understands what they do, that the maze is for the greater good of humanity. He agrees that there is no better way to study their bodies and brain waves than in a raw experiment that strips everything from its participants. That isn’t to say that he isn’t empathetic to his fellow participants (probably not a great term to call them). He understands the fear they must be feeling, but he knows that they’ll forget everything. The maze will soon be all they know. Maybe… it can actually become home.
Little Warriors characterization: He doesn’t know it here but he’s starting to resent being used as the golden boy, being pushed into a “captain” role, by HYLIA. He sees the easy friendship the others have with each other that he will never have due to the role HYLIA has put him in. They’ll never feel safe around Wars. He pines for a home that he’s never known.
Some of them also believe HYLIA when they’re told this is for the best of society. That being said, just because they believe that the ends will justify the means BUT they question why they don’t have a choice in this.
Legend is the first, and loudest, to object to this project completely. He questions how watching a bunch of amnesiacs will create vaccinations against the gloom and genetic resistance to mind controlling frequencies. No matter how much they explain he gets louder and angrier. It doesn’t help that his sister, Fable, is also protesting albeit a lot more clinically, picking it apart with her questions. This creates quite the stir in the group.
Things get worse when HYLIA explains that there’s not just 1 maze, but 2 and that they’ll be separated by sex. Girls on one side, boys on the other. This feels like a way to divide and conquer.
HYLIA lets the groups sit on this for a little under a week before they announce who’s going in the maze first. On the girls side Artemis will be going first.
Artemis was not originally selected to go first. She managed to figure out that HYLIA initially selected Fable to go first. Artemis is like Warriors in the sense that HYLIA used her as the golden child but for the girls wing. Unlike Warriors, Artemis is really good at being a bit manipulative back at HYLIA without repercussions. She manages to convince them to let her go first. This seems to everyone like her taking charge, being a good leader, etc. She’s the only one who knows that she’s doing this because she’s terrified. She doesn’t want to lay in wait, watching as her friends lose their memories, get hurt, possibly die.
As for the boys… it’s announced that Hyrule will be going first (in less than 24 hours mind you). Legend reacts to this more poorly than Hyrule does. Honestly, Hyrule doesn’t even get a chance to process before Legend is up out of his seat yelling. He’s desperate to defend his best friend.
This incites a small riot as Dawn and Aurora step in too. Dawn has been itching for a fight for months so this is easy. Soon half the entire group is trying to wrestle HYLIA operatives while the rest just watch, half heartedly try and stop the others, or sit in dread.
The riot is stopped before it can really get started when the main offenders get sedated.
Artemis and Hyrule are separated from the rest. HYLIA decides to send them in right away to avoid more confrontation.
Artemis is sent in alone and she’s glad for that. (She’s really not but she wouldn’t admit that to the others). That way nobody will see how scared she is.
Hyrule is also scared. They have him on a table and are getting ready to sedate him before they wipe his memory. They allow one visitor to come in. It’s Wild. Hyrule is relieved to have somebody with him but it’s obvious that he wishes Legend were there, his brother. Wild isn’t offended and does his best to be there for him. Even after Hyrule is unconscious he stays. He wonders if this is what it was like for Twilight. He vows to be with Hyrule soon. He kisses his forehead before he’s forced to leave.
And then, the first people are released in the maze.
I have issues with articulation so if anything is confusing pls lmk 🙏 Also if there’s plot holes or anything stupid, or if something could’ve just been better LMK. I will not get offended
ty for reading 💕💕💕 More to come
I know most of the Link’s kind of have ambiguous families or are just straight up orphans but Sky’s origins are particularly mysterious to me. Like we intentionally know that Time is an orphan, his mother died getting him into the lost woods. Four has a father and grandfather, Wind has a grandmother and sister, Twilight has an adoptive family (I think?), Legend had/has an uncle, and Wild had a family. Wars doesn’t mystify me as much bc he’s working as a soldier, it can be assumed he grew up somewhere else, and Hyrule doesn’t have anyone in his game so he just very much has wandering orphan vibes (There’s weird non canon stuff from the 80s but I don’t count it).
Sky, however, is surrounded by people in their families. Like everyone else in the academy has a family member yet they don’t ever mention Sky’s. Like not even if they had died when he was young or anything, like Sun’s mom.
So, I created my own backstory to fill in the gaps as I play Skyward Sword.
I think the people of Skyloft found Sky as a really young child one day just sitting in front of the Goddess statue with a baby loftwing nestled into his side. This is confusing bc nobody has ever seen this child before and there’s no way he could have flown to the island at that age and on a loftwing of that size. So they send search parties looking for his parents but find nothing. The academy takes him in and the island kind of raises him.
I think Sun would bully him as really young kids, she’s very jealous of his close bond with his loftwing. Her father is kind of horrified that she’s bullying the orphaned mute kid so he forces her to be friends with him. She starts feeling really bad for how she treated him and pulls a 180 becoming his biggest defender and best friend. (I don’t think the bullying would be super serious just mean kid stuff)
She tries to teach him sign but he doesn’t seem to be picking it up so they just enjoy quiet company for a while. Randomly, like 4 years after his arrival he just starts talking. Probably something mundane to Sun like: “The sky is really pretty today…” and she’d be like: “Yeah it’s so pink-“ *neck crack* “whatdidyoujustsay”
And turns out he did pick up the sign she was teaching him he just… didn’t want to use it. Then people start asking him questions about how he got to the island but he genuinely can’t remember. He doesn’t even think he remembers his parents. He thinks he can recall a soft voice and strong arms but it might just be something he made up to soothe himself…
And yeah, I think it just remains a mystery.
kill the shift manager in your brain
Hi hello yes more thoughts about this hgduo pre-canon, hunger games/wars au(??) because my brain is rotating them at incredible speeds. (Obligatory cannibalism tw because yeah the lore do be like that.)
Bad originally finds Cellbit while the kid is trying to use a dagger to carve up a body to eat---key word trying. Bad stands back and watches him struggle for about thirty seconds before speaking up: "You're holding that wrong." (The kid jumps about two feet in the air. "WhhUH---") "Also you're not supposed to carve with a dagger, silly. You should really be using a knife. Here." And Bad passes him one of his hunting knives.
Bad mentally dubs Cellbit "Dagger-Kid" because he doesn't know Cellbit's name. When Cellbit later admits he doesn't know his name either, Bad officially dubs him "Dagger-Kid" or "Dagger" for short. ((For the rest of this I'll be calling Cellbit "Dagger")) ((Also I'm not 100% on this name yet but we'll see.))
I should note that I also think it would be funny that every time Dagger does something notable or reveals a new quality about himself, Bad tries to give him a new name. Like, they scavenge a piece of chocolate off one of their victims and Dagger loves it, so Bad tries to suggest, "Oh oh! What if we called you 'Sweets'! Or 'Chocolate'? 'Coco,' maybe?" all of which Dagger (playfully) rolls his eyes at. Bad rotates through nicknames regularly, but Dagger personally sticks with the first name Bad gave him.
Dagger was on his own for two months before he met Bad. He is injured and half-starved and utterly exhausted. The first time they make camp together, Dagger promises he'll take the first watch, but he nods off before even Bad can fall asleep. It's the first time Dagger has felt safe enough to truly relax, so his body just crashes. He sleeps for twelve hours.
This one's honestly more of a general qsmp headcanon I have but it goes here too: Bad teaches Dagger how to throw knives (for combat) and how to do knife tricks (for fun). Current-day Cellbit still remembers how to do the tricks, and he'll often use them as a way of fidgeting when he's thinking---with a pen or pencil instead, though.
One of Dagger's natural talents is stealth. He's not as quiet as Bad, but he's definitely good at it; his cat-hybrid traits definitely lend him a hand here, too. It's the main way Dagger survived before meeting Bad, stealing supplies out of camps while people were sleeping.
Bad, being a demon, doesn't need to eat, drink, or sleep as much as mortals do, and certainly not as much as a teenage boy. To him, it only seems practical that he gives himself smaller portions of their rations, or takes longer nightwatch shifts. But Dagger (who can scarcely imagine ever being not hungry or not tired, much less at the same time) is still grateful and feels somewhat indebted to Bad, even after Bad explains.
Dagger (a cat hybrid and a little more than a bit messed up) bites to show affection. Usually Bad's arm. Any normal guy would be injured by the force of Dagger's bite---Dagger doesn't really seem to understand that not-biting-hard is an option---but Bad doesn't really mind it.
(The truth is that deep down Dagger really wants to hug Bad, but he knows Bad isn't a very cuddly person, and yeah Bad might give him a hug if he asked but he's too afraid to ask so all that affection stays bottled up until it rises rises rises and he just doesn't know what to do with it anymore and it needs OUT---)
Bad thwacks Dagger upside the head with his tail whenever Dagger is being a "little rapscallion" and eventually Dagger starts retaliating. His tail isn't as long or flexible as Bad's but he definitely does try.
Bad has a lot of stories to tell. Some true, some made up on the fly. He's always liked telling stories, and Dagger is a captive audience. He learns Dagger loves mysteries, and suddenly, all of his campfire stories are about spies, and detectives, and red-string cork boards and espionage.
The thing Dagger fears the most is that one morning he'll wake up and Bad won't be there because Bad decided Dagger slowed him down and thus abandoned him. He thinks about this near-constantly. (The thing Bad fears the most is that one morning he'll wake up and look at Dagger and start caring like he used to a long, long time ago. He does not think about this at all.)
purgatory??? More like purGAYtory hahah cmon guys up top
I don't have a good ship to ask about but I do like your takes so here's a related question, or two if you want them—What's a ship you see around that you don't like? And what's a ship you wish you saw more of?
Hrm, I think if I had to pick a ship I didn't like that I saw a lot of it'd be Link/Sidon -- I'm just way too gay for that man.
He's a wonderful character! I think he'd treat Link well (although a lot of people make him do a lot of caretaking I am at best indifferent to or actively dislike.) But he's SUCH a guy. He's the platonic ideal of a Guy, and I?
I am a lesbian. Men need to work much harder than that to appeal to me in media. They need something wrong with them.
Sidon's main redeeming trait in my mind isn't usually depicted on Tumblr, so alas, it goes in my No Thank You ships.
The ship I DO wish I saw more of is hysterically the example of what makes a gay ship really work for me and that's GanLink. I really don't see it on Tumblr which is a travesty because I'm trying to! Some of it does exist, but it just doesn't make it into AUs and stories the same way.
And lemme tell you, people have to try to NOT have these boys have something wrong with them in exciting ways. LOL But that's my short opinions on the subject yes!
the chain but they’re a van life family YouTube channel
I LOVE the concept of Bbh being some sort of older brother/guidance to young Cellbit in the war
With Cellbit’s cannibal class I can imagine that translating as really hard times, resulting in people having to eat their dead. Maybe it’s winter time and they can’t grow anything and anything that they could hunt is hibernating so they have to turn to that. It confuses bbh at first, he just assumes that maybe humans just eat other humans now, until he realizes the horrors in which why they have to do that and it dawns on him how awful this is so he takes Cellbit under his wing
at first bbh tries not to get too attached, their ranks are dropping like flies, but he just can’t help it. Cellbit also might be the youngest there, so bad feels an extra responsibility to keep him safe
why either of the are fighting in the first place, I’m not sure but I imagine that maybe Bad was traveling when war struck and he got stuck in the middle of it, wings or magic too damaged to be able to get himself out so he has to fight out. Or maybe he just thinks it’s for a good cause? Cellbit on the other hand, maybe he’s just collateral, his hometown destroyed so he has no choice.
In the end, bbh and cellbit are seemingly the only survivors, maybe because Bad’s abilities finally come back, just in time for him to protect himself and his new friend. Somehow they get separated, maybe in the chaos or at a navy port, but they lose touch until they reunite in the qsmp.
Cellbit grows up kind of assuming that he’s crazy, there’s no way that he had a benevolent demon battle buddy as a teenager. He goes on to think that maybe he was starving or just coping, making imaginary friends to feel safe and cared for. But then they meet again and he realizes that it all happened and it’s just so relieving and happy because that’s his friend and also, he wasn’t aggressively hallucinating for the mass of the war.
I really hope that more people are just as into this as I am 😭 I really hope I see fanfics about this, I like writing but it’s so hard
Hi. I have a question about your lu soul eater au. What's Dots reaction to Green getting kidnaped and then coming back fused with 3 other people?
Thank you so much for the ask!!! 💕💕💕
Dot, like Green, was also a young kid at the time of his kidnapping so it was very distressing for her. Naturally there were search parties for him, but Vaati was good at hiding so they never found anything.
After search party after party kept failing, she would become more and more upset, begging her father to let her help but being forced to stay inside being a princess. This alone enraged her, but to make matters worse, after the 2nd month of Green missing, they stopped sending out regular search parties. She dipped into her family’s treasury to pay mercenaries to start looking and begged guards she knew to look for him on their off time. She was devastated when they too kept coming back empty handed.
Even worser, close to the half year mark of Green missing, Dot’s father,(do any of the Zelda’s have a living mother???), sits her down and tells her she must continue her studies. She has to start wielding a new weapon. This enrages her but she holds her head high and accepts. She’s paired with another princess from the other side of the kingdom, Fable. She feels as if she betrayed Green on a deeply personal level.
Thankfully, Fable is a good match for her. She’s witty, respectful, and a good listener. Dot is touched when Fable has her own guards search her kingdom for Dot’s missing best friend.
When news of “Green” coming home not himself but a fusion of him and three other boys, Dot is worried. Selfishly, in her own opinion of herself, she hopes that he will remember her.
At first her family and the guard try to keep her away, whispers of “traumatized” and “not the same” floating around. She doesn’t care and sneaks off to find him.
Four is not Green, that she realizes very quickly, but he does remember her. Upon meeting Four, Dot realizes that she still misses Green because he’s still not here. Despite that, she sees him in Four. She’s happy to meet him, feeling bittersweet about the whole thing.
Dot is the first person to recognize Four as somebody who isn’t Green. Sure he is Green, but at the same time he’s not. The palace staff and Four’s own father still treat Four like he’s Green but he isn’t. When Four goes to live with his grandpa, Dot visits him frequently.
A year and a half after escaping Vaati, Four defuses for the first time.He and Dot have a tearful reunion. She realizes that he’s not the same Green that she knew, but she’s not the same either.
