People. Are. Dying. PLEASE REBLOG! And donate if you can!
Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.
If you can't do anything else, please just read and reblog.
A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.
There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.
There is no plan.
Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.
Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.
We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.
This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.
We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.
People are dying.
People are dying.
People are dying and there is no plan.
More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.
My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.
Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.
But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.
She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.
So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.
If you can, donate.
Or spread the word.
Help. Please.
happy pride month everybody! even if you’re straight why turn down a reason to celebrate?
Same disabled anon again: apology accepted. I recommend looking at disability blogs by disabled people as a good starting point. The community is really diverse, so there's a lot to learn! Best of luck :)
Oh thanks! I know it's so diverse, people with disabilities are very diverse, even more diverse than those without disabilities. There are all different types and levels of abilities as well as all different kinds of people, Black, Asian, white, Hispanic, and all other colors and ethnicity, plus I know it crosses over with LGBTQ+. I already looked at some stories from those with learning disabilities such as dyslexia and ADHD, and I will definitely look at blogs by disabled people.
Thank you again, anon, for teaching me so much about the disabled community!
reblog this post if you are a member of the lgbtq+ community or you know someone who is!
let’s see how many transphobics we can weed out
does anyone else see taylor swift’s “the way i loved you” as a sort of lesbian pride anthem? notice that she talks about her boyfriend and says she has no feelings for him even though he’s perfect, but she really loved this other person and felt roller coaster feelings for them (she never specified the gender of her ex, so that’s why i sort of think of it as a lesbian pride anthem.)
I am in no way saying that Taylor Swift is gay and that is none of my business, I’m basically just saying that I love that song.
you know what really sucks? when people with special needs say that they have a disability because they have been told that their whole lives. I guess it doesn’t bother them, and if it doesn’t that’s fine. But if you’re made fun of and told that you have a disability, know that you are perfect just the way you are and there are people who will love you just the way you are. You just have to find them. And even the word disability sucks because it’s focusing on what people can’t do, instead of what they can do. I’ve met people with special needs. Sure, there were some things they couldn’t do, but they are some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. They just have the biggest hearts and most positive attitudes. If you have befriended someone with special needs, you know what I’m talking about. And if you have you are a wonderful human being who has done what most people don’t dare to do. Honestly, the way people just ignore those who are differently-abled is just heartbreaking.
Some of the worst (and most widely believed) bullshit that’s put out there is that people with special needs are incapable of romantic love and/or sexual attraction. Yes, people with special needs need extra help. But they can fall in love, just the same as those without special needs. And with the right person, they can have a long, happy life with their partner.
