Fun Story to Share.

I got my (now 18-year-old) daughter into Ao3 back in 2021. I taught her she should always comment - even if the fic looks old or abandoned or whatever. She did.

Well - she got this email this morning:

The fic was written in 2014 and essentially abandoned.

Bethy read and reviewed in 2021 (and was actually the only person who had commented at all).

Today in 2025 - the final chapter was posted by the author and this was her reply to Bethy’s comment.

thinking about writing about someone born right before the outbreak and them eventually crossing paths with ellie and joel and/or jackson. like a self insert kinda thing but not necessarily a romance? i have some really cool ideas…

i want to start writing but voting on my next fic hasn’t ended yet 😫😫

i might just have to put something out 🤷‍♀️

AHHHHH there are actually a few people voting on my fic!!!!!!!

in the meantime, i have some things to add and some little works i will try to release as well.

first, i would like to mention that i will probably be incorporating some smut chapters into whichever fic i end up writing. just a heads up…

also, the first option (which i would looooove to write btw) would include some pretty heavy subject matter. i have a pretty fleshed out outline so i have a pretty good idea of where the story will go, even down to littler details and scenes— that being said, it is not going to be an entirely light story. the mc’s mother’s death, while not occurring during the actual fic, will be a prominent theme and topic throughout. along with this, there will be topics surrounding suicidal ideation and drug abuse, not to mention lots of underage drinking and other things in that realm because of the college setting. i will do my very best to handle these subjects delicately and will never use them in a context with the sole purpose of shock value or anything in that realm. these subjects are heavy and i want to be as respectful as possible when it comes to portraying events and struggles that many people experience. i would never push out work and encourage anyone to click on it without acknowledging potential triggers so i wanted to make that very clear. even if that fic does not end up being the one i choose to write first, i will someday publish it because it is one i am very passionate about!!

in the mean time, i am going to open up asks for anyone to inspire me to write oneshots. any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

in regards to this…

the fic would rely heavily on the events of re2 but would also take place long after and would focus on the reader and leon’s relationship following the events i am planning on adding…

my question is that since i am already writing 1 (maybe 2?) fics that follow the events of re2, would it get redundant to include these scenes in this newer fic? i thought of incorporating these scenes through flashbacks to keep the pacing up and have the story stand out from the formula of my others. but i would love to hear what ppl would prefer :) lmk!!
