so I really don't know how common knowledge it is that google arts & culture exists, but a while ago I found it, and my life was forever improved.it's honestly the reason this blog even exists because it makes browsing through art so easy.
google has a huuuuge ass extensive and I do mean extensive, site of art. I really don't even know how to articulate how endless it is. want to view collections of art by time period, movement, location, medium, museum, or just color? easy. want to virtually walk streetview style through museums and landmarks from around the world?? have fun and go get lost in the Musee d'Orsay.
and all this is literally not even what makes me most obsessed with this site. the best feature is this art camera that will walk you through iconic works of art detail by detail in high quality, explaining what it is that made this work so important, details you'd otherwise glance over, easily miss. art history is so eye-opening and can completely change how you perceive and appreciate art, so google having such incredible content formatted so beautifully and so accessible to people is amazing. and it's all in such high resolution you can zoom in with such definition to see individual brushstrokes like you'd normally only be able to see by actually viewing it in person. or zoom into details of embroidery on an alexander mcqueen because they have literally every art medium including fashion.
I could keep going (matty healy narrating a walk through of mondrian!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but I think you get the point! this is my favorite website go immerse yourselves in art!!
