Etaf is a wife and mother of 5 from Ghazzah. Last year, she and her family's home was destroyed, a long with her husband's source of income and their car.
They were displaced for 200 days, all the way induring the hellish tribulations of genocide. Luckily, they were able to flee into Egypt; however their struggles are not over.
Due to their lack of income, Etaf and her husband struggle to provide their children with food, clothing, and education. On top of that, they are struggling to pay the rent on their house as winter approaches.

Gender is entirely made-up and I don't understand why some people are so fixated on it being "true" in the sense of like...are trans women women? Of course they are, insofar as "a woman" can be said to exist in the first place. But people have gotten obsessed with proving objectively that a trans woman is a woman, when the actual core of trans liberation is that anyone forcing their preferred gender on you is fascist. It's missing the forest for the trees. When all you do is play the "I am [x] really truly deep down just like everyone else" game you're meeting the transphobes on their level and accepting their premise that "man" and "woman" are distinct, tangible things.
To be clear, it's not that you CAN'T feel gender is a kinna spiritual force within you, or something to that effect. I think we all do on at least some level. But my point is that trying to rip that spiritual force out of our bodies to dissect it and prove all the haters wrong because look it was here all along is just a waste of time and effort.
The truth of the matter is that the goal is not to get people to see trans women as women, it's to get them to stop feeling like clothes and pronouns and names and locker rooms should be dictated by what some asshole wrote down on your birth certificate.
ok last thing. but what people fundamentally need to get through their heads is the significance of gaza fundraisers not being the same as like mutual aid when you're helping someone get groceries, because it is a genocide. there is insane deliberate scarcity and prices are unmanageable, because there is nowhere nearly enough for everyone, so only people who can pay can eat. and what positioning individual fundraisers as the only course of action does is quite simply give a tiny percentage of random people whose fundraisers take off the ability to pay those prices while thousands of others can't. and every one of those thousands of people without a fundraiser is suffering through the same inconceivably horrific reality. it is giving a few completely desperate people out of hundreds of thousands a slightly more favorable position in a horrific war economy of imposed scarcity. and what grassroots community kitchens do is try to mitigate in some small way that inconceivable hierarchy of who can pay and who can't, by stretching ingredients as far as they can last to cook meals at large scale and give them out at no cost. and obviously people are still going to send money to their friends and families because this is hell what else are we supposed to do but please just think about that before promoting endless individual fundraisers as somehow the most ethical way to help
Save my life 🩸🙏
I am Kawthar Zeyad Ramadan from Gaza, I am 29 years old
I live every day war, destruction and fear, a feeling that can only be described by those who live it.
War is not easy, as I lost part of my family, my home and my work.
I graduated from university with a high grade and worked as a fashion designer and opened my own project because it was my hobby from the beginning.
I developed and succeeded in my field, but the war came and I lost everything in a moment.
My work was my source of livelihood for my family, so because of it there was no longer any source of income.
Also, my mother has been suffering from kidney failure for years and needs dialysis 3 times a week.
Because of the war, she suffered from going to the hospital in danger and long distances.
Also, the lack of adequate care caused her severe fatigue and hospitals became an unhealthy place because of the large numbers who needed treatment.
I had many ambitions and dreams that I wanted to achieve and succeed and become a famous fashion designer.
All we wanted was to survive the war. We were forced to be displaced more than 10 times at least.
We suffer a lot from the tent as we lived the summer with its extreme heat as it is made of poor quality nylon
And from insects and diseases
And now winter has come and we are drowning in the tents and the extreme cold
We fear death every day, we love life
Your help by donating even a small amount is able to save my life and my family's from death

have y'all seen how many poll-then-donation-request posts receive thorough poll engagement, while the actual notes are left hanging? i'm talking 12k votes for "favorite japanese dish?" but only 1500 who felt like being minimally kind to a stranger they had power over. when i see numbers like that i wonder: do the people who skip past once they realize they're being asked for something think they're outsmarting a trick? does the triumphancy of that avoidance feel better than the humility of kindness?
maybe so-- but if you're someone who skips reblogging donations, why not reblog this one? rather than lambast, i want to suggest that we refuse to go silent at the moment we're not having fun anymore, that we extend ourselves beyond the little existences social media increasingly encourages of us. this app mass-deleted palestinian users yesterday, genuinely impacting some of their means of survival. marah ( now @mahrahpalestine ), a college student like me, was one of them. consider giving her family what you're able.
they shadowbanned alaa again. this is at least the tenth time this has happened. tumblr doesn't respond her to her appeals and deletes her accounts. this is fucking vile. keep donating to her fundraiser. [verified]

there's a discussion on Twitter about lesbian love being somehow different than the way that straight men love women but sooo many of these people are just parroting terf and radfem talking points and being quietly transphobic. either by implying that men or amab people are just biologically incapable of love on a deeper level either because of their minds or hormones (transphobic) or by saying it's just the way men are "socialized" in a patriarchal society and it's more about shared experiences (transphobic)
the following statements can be true at once:
there is no real difference between the way men and women love, because men and women are human beings and we are all capable of love and complexity. love as an emotion or experience is not ingrained or influenced by our sex or gender. love between women is beautiful and pure, and it can be abusive too. love between men and women is also beautiful and pure and it can also be abusive. it is sexist to say that women are less prone to committing abuse or violence, even if it seems like a positive stereotype.
the way that patriarchy puts men in a higher social position than women does lead to a higher rate of abuse from men towards women. many men are raised to believe they are innately better than women and this is a mindset that needs real work to unlearn. solving this requires building a society that raises sons to be compassionate and respectful, not to seek dominance over women.
when you insist that abusive or unloving behavior is ingrained within men or it is part of the male experience, what you do is reinforce the patriarchal expectation of men as inherently domineering and violent beings. gender roles are made up, and do not hold truth to what we really are in the genders we associate with. it is a self fulfilling prophecy. if you tell a boy that he's incapable of truly loving a woman without owning her, he will grow into a man that believes you, and become a man that believes control is how you show love

I think about Lycion and his relationship with beauty soo much
Looking at him, we can see that he easily meets the elven beauty standards. He has long silver hair, clear skin, and androgynous form: he's the picture of a youthful, pretty man.
And yet.
He experiences such a visceral reaction to his own body. Despite looking like your stereotypical pretty boy, he doesn't fulfill the expectation of being vain in the slightest (at least not in this form).
In fact, we see in the extras just how badly his body dysmorphia got to him. This was not a passive discomfort or a shallow desire. Lycion was trying to destroy his body. He hated living in his skin so much he was actively self harming in multiple ways in an effort to punish himself.
It's not until he uses ancient magic to get his beast form that his perspective of himself changes. The magic required him to be heavily tattooed over his whole body and we can clearly we can see that he wears these marks with pride. But that's not where any of this ends for him because despite having the solution to his problem, Lycion can't be a wolf all the time.
This means that he has to learn to cope with existing as an elf still, and what stands out to me is how Lycion's hair is almost always in his face. Even now, in the body he likes more, he hides. Whether this is a lingering discomfort or just a habit, there's no saying, but it makes me sad.
Especially in this panel, where it's clear that a lot of his hair had been pulled forward to cover his face rather just the few strands. His expression looks so hollow. He looks tired and uncomfortable. This isn't the casual playfulness he usually has. I think this is a peek into the idea that it's very self soothing for him to use his hair as a shield when he's forced to stay in his human body for too long.
I think that his hair is so important to him because we can see that it's the only trait that carried over into his wolf form. This means that when he's forced to be human he can cling to the single part of him that's shared between his current body and his preferred one.
In summary: I love him so much
Something i really hate about gen Z queers is that they’re more worried about what a queer person can or can’t do, than whether or not that person is happy
“Can a genderfluid person identify as lesbian even when they’re male? Can you identify as bi and gay? Are abrosexuals valid?” And the response is always people giving super specific explanations on who can/can’t identify as xyz, what is/isn’t “valid”, like if you don’t follow a list of rules to be a “good queer” you deserve to be treated like shit. I rarely see someone saying “If this is how they feel and they’re happy, then good for them” and when i do, it’s almost never a younger queer saying it
The whole point of fighting for lgbt rights is letting people be themselves without being shamed for not fitting in the cis/straight boxes, not turning lgbt identities into new strict boxes and shitting on anyone who enters the “wrong box”. People aren’t categories, they’re people
TLDR:
I feel is my responsability to share this. As a "little" huh heads up.
Most of us are recurring to VPNs and the like, and it's true people are disappearing. On top of that, there have been instances of usamericans literally tagging venezuelan authorities when they see a venezuelan trying to share info about the protests and the situation. I wish i was lying.
Anyways, I just feel the need to share awareness somehow.
Update: Twitter and other webpages have been blocked and can only be accessed with VPNs. There's even more concerns about people arrested being taken to El Helicoide. If people really doubt venezuelans, I'm begging you to do your own research about El Helicoide and La Tumba (If you aren't sensitive)
happy birthday, dave
This house that used to shelter us, from which we fled to the south 11 months ago. Please, please help me to bring us back.
Dear friends
In the past, your generous support has made a significant difference in my life. Today, I’m reaching out to ask for your help for someone very dear to me: Hazem and his family, who are in urgent need of our support.
Hazem and his siblings are like a second family to me. We grew up as neighbors and shared many experiences together. Currently, they are facing severe challenges in Gaza, and Hazem has broken down his campaign into smaller, achievable goals.
He has already reached the first goal of €5,000, which was necessary to secure the safe exit of his younger brother. Now, he hopes to achieve the second goal of €10,000 by the end of this week, which will help ensure the safe departure of his younger sister and another sibling.
Every donation, no matter how small, will have a profound impact and directly assist this family. I ask you to contribute what you can and share the campaign with your network. Let’s come together to provide them with the hope and support they need during this critical time.
Thank you so much for your support and generosity. Together, we can make a real difference in Hazem and his family's lives.
LGBT in fighting is fucking dumb and I’m super tired of yall’s stupidity. The fascists who run the government do not care that you are “Not like the other queers”. The fascists do not care that you hates it when bisexual women are taking their straight boyfriends to pride. The fascists do not care that you are a gay person who hates trans people with a passion. The fascists do not care that you are a trans person who hates non-binary people with a passion. The fascists do not care that you are a queer person who bullies 12 year old kids on tik tok who use fox/foxself pronouns and identify as fox gender. Hating each other will not make the homophobes go away. I don’t care how many times you say “But these people in the community make everyone else in the community look bad.” Fascists think we are all the same they will not single any of us out just because some of us have the same opinions as the fascists/Alt right. They are not passing anti trans laws because some trans people are too loud and cringey they are doing it because they hate all trans people. They are not passing anti gay laws because some gay people are too loud and cringey they are doing it because they hate gay people. FASCISTS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINIONS THEY WILL KILL YOU REGARDLESS! FASCISTS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION THEY WILL KILL YOU REGARDLESS! FASCISTS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION THEY WILL KILL YOU REGARDLESS! Do you understand me?
okay i don't have anything smart to add i just genuinely love that these seemingly trivial jokes are actually an important part of his character. we see it throughout the entire manga, how he pushes aside his own frustration and discomfort to accommodate everyone else's and avoid needless confrontation- another example off the top of my head would be the barometz chapter in which he slowly gets frustrated with izutsumi but still tries his best to talk some sense into her calmly and soundly.
and in contrast, there are very few times he expresses his anger and hurt towards others, and it usually takes a lot for him to finally lose his patience and control.
i mean, even with kabru he tried to be polite despite the circumstances until the guy said the one thing that triggers an immense sense of shame, hurt and rage in laios. and you know, the manga does say it quite clearly early on. when we are introduced to namari and then to shuro, laios acts all friendly and shows his respect and trust in them despite how things ended between them, and everyone else gets frustrated with him for acting so strange- why are you the one who tries so hard to pacify the rest when you should be the angriest?
and they don't understand him. they don't know him well enough to be able to understand, but we as readers get to see during the manga that they aren't wrong to question him- he does, in fact, feel all those ugly emotions. and it's when the winged lion finally confronts him that we see to what extent these feelings he buried so deep go, and suddenly all those funny little moments where he sometimes pretends to be mr nice guy speak volumes about his character. honestly, ryoko kui is a master at using jokes in order to define important character traits and this one doesn't fail to amaze me.
and laios's hatred and rage and deep scars he can't get over aren't shown explicitly during most of these moments i mentioned before, but now you realize there are 26 years of emotional baggage to all of them and they sting. he is angry but he can't say shit, what difference would it make? it won't make his friends choose him instead of themselves when he needed them most, and it won't help his party get any farther. of course, this logic doesn't apply to them- they are absolutely allowed to get angry and it's fine to get mad at him, he can take that.
so after finishing the series it's so clear that he tries his best to avoid clashing with others not just due to the current circumstances and him needing to be a reliable leader but also because he knows that people don't even like him when he tries to show his good sides and hide all the rest, so who the hell would tolerate his rage and despair? who would stay after realizing that he is so deeply flawed he doesn't even like his own being?
but he does get mad. he can't help it, and sometimes it gets out of control and now everyone knows. and it's funny, isn't it? that most of those moments ended up bringing him closer to others. shuro admitting he is envy of him and actually becoming the friend laios thought he was all along, fighting for his sake and waiting for him to come back- believing in him even after he turned into a monster and searching for him the way he couldn't bring himself to do for falin when he learned of what became of her- or kabru being pushed to just let it all out because he couldn't bluff his way out of this one and get to laios any other way, so now they are even. they are both horribly honest with each other and they both choose to stay. a weird way of getting to know each other, but it is what it is.
it's simply... the more laios let himself just be, the deeper his relationships grew. and there's intimacy in being your ugly, weak and furious self around someone and them not leaving you. feeling safe enough to let it be known you are hurt and angry. and he knows that now, too.
Hal, I miss you
happy birthday to the best fictional character I know
