Ok so I go from one genre of music with Mary J Bilge on Thursday night to now hearing the roots of rock and roll with a night of Doo-Wop to close out my birthday weekend. As we close out July, my wife and I have the ability to take in a Yankees game courtesy of my friend Cathy and her husband who gave us the tickets. Although it has only been a couple of weeks, it feels like an eternity since my last concert, so tonight I stay in the theme of throwback 80’s as I am getting to see Duran Duran with Chic. What a double play billing. This will be my 3rd time seeing Chic and first time seeing Duran Duran who were absolutely huge when I was in high school and college. Ok, so I go from watch a movie about Aretha to now going back to when I grew up in the 80’s when we use to go out to the clubs every weekend dancing and hearing the sounds of Freestyle. This is actually the first time I been to a Freestyle concert, and I even paid for this ticket, that’s how bad I wanted to see all these artists I grew up listening to. Make each day count! As another weekend is upon us, I have another opportunity to see and listen to the music I grew up on. Growing up in the 70’s I remember listening 770am WABC with Ron Lundy, Harry Harrison and some of the artists that I will hear tonight. It puts a huge smile when I can to the radio like WCBS or Big Hits 98 and hear these artists and then say I have seen them. What a tremendous blessing.
