the fact that itโs totally normal for Bruce to carry a Robin in his arms but if you see him carrying a fully-grown adult child like Nightwing or Red Hood etc that means they probably died/are about to die is KILLING me.

The sarcasm here is fucking hilarious ๐ whenever I inevitably end up using mobility aids, imma just tell them my doctor told me to, bcs she did. Even if your doctor denies you a mobility aid, people get uncomfortable if you just say a doctor made you, so you could always just make stuff up.
You shouldn't get a wheelchair, walker, cane, shower chair, or any kind of assistive technology mobility aid because then you might become dependent on them. Just like how you also shouldn't get glasses if you have bad eyesight because then you might become dependent on those.
For instance, if you end up stuck using corrective eyewear, you could actually lose your ability to tell what things are even when they are extremely blurry! You need to get used to having migraines from seeing unclearly because if you wear glasses all the time, you are basically giving up!! You don't need to see things coming at you from far away! You just need to get good at dodging, and if you can't, then you have no one to blame but yourself!!
For example, I read a really heart-worming article recently about a girl who was stuck using glasses - just absolutely, tragically trapped in her eyewear from dawn to dusk, even though she was good and never ever complained; and I heard she trained herself to discern the blurry faces of her loved ones with 60% accuracy! - she was even able to walk down the aisle at her wedding WITHOUT forcing the discomfort of seeing a woman in glasses on all her guests!!
Sure, she had to give her vows with a splitting headache, and she couldn't see her husband's expression when he said "I do," but overall, SO inspi-ration-al!!! So up-lifting!!
(She didn't even have to use a seeing eye cane, which would have been the worst-case scenario, obviously, because she worked hard to make sure she looked LESS disabled, not MORE disabled!!! Everyone knows blind people exist solely to be a cautionary tale to sighted people!!)
Also, did you know some people get glasses when they only need them a little bit?? How selfish of them! Sure, there's not a shortage, and an increase in demand would result in overall increased accessibility to glasses--but emotionally it's like taking glasses away from someone who needs them more! After all, if everyone who needed glasses got them, then...... um...... more people would have glasses! Which is probably bad!!!!
I also had a friend who was trapped in glasses who saved up all her money for laser eye surgery, and I don't know why everyone doesn't just do that! Sure, some doctors say some people don't "qualify" and it "won't help" those people, but that's why you can't give up!! You don't want to be one of those people!
After all, what's the worse thing that could happen with an unnecessary laser surgery to the face that comes with crippling debt??? It's worth the risk to gain your FREEDOM back, and I'm so proud of my friend!!
Tragically, she did die later that year while driving Uber and squinting at street signs, but at least now I know my friend is finally free from the shackles of her terrible eyesight. #ripAshley #rippedAshley #justripit ๐๐๐โค๐๐๐
And that's why you shouldn't get used to using a mobility aid!! Because, like glasses, they are inherently embarrassing to be seen with; and - like glasses - it is more noble to silently suffer than to depend on unnatural technologies that force you to rely on them!!! (Besides, everyone else will be SO much more comfortable if you look normal!)
Duke Thomas: Whatโs your biggest fear?
Jason Todd: That Iโll never be good enough for anyone.
Tim Drake: Everyone hates me and talks about me behind my back.
Dick Grayson: Vampires.
Jason Todd: ...
Tim Drake: ...
Dick Grayson: I got turned into one once and nearly killed peoples. It's a bloodlust, you never know when you'll be fully quenched and every non-vampire is a succulent vessel... But I'm not a vampire anymore and that is in my past.
*silence*
Duke Thomas: Holy crap stick, Batman.
Tim: Can I change my option to Dick Grayson?
Jason: Same.
Me trying to make myself feel better after someone makes fun of my mobility aid: Iโm literally Viktor from arcane im literally Viktor from arcane
You are not a creep if you find yourself sexy with your disability aids. full stop. If your partner is disabled, you are not fetishizing them if you find them sexy when they're in their wheelchair, or wearing their diaper, or have braces on, etc.
Disabled people are allowed to feel sexy and people are allowed to find them sexy. People with facial/limb differences and other physical differences are allowed to feel sexy and people are allowed to be attracted to them.
The problem comes from lack of consent and dehumanization. Expecting all disabled people to fit your sexual fantasy and sexualizing them openly without their consent (i.e. posting/reblogging normal pictures of a disabled person on your fetish blog or sexually harassing a disabled stranger) is fetishization and horrible. Asking us how we have sex or taking secret photos of us to jack off to later is creepy and crossing the boundry into dehumanizing fetishization. Seeing us and our sexuality as an oddity or a funny joke is not okay.
Reminder, sex toys were first and foremost created by and for disabled people. We have always been having sex and have always been seen as attractive by our admirers, without them fetishizing us. Having sex with a consenting disabled person isnt rape, and yes it is possible for us to eagerly consent! While some disabilities make it hard to consent, that isn't true for all of us.
We get horny, we have sex, we jack off, we wear sexy clothes and show off our bodies. We aren't freak shows for abled peoples amusement nor objects for fetishization. We aren't poor innocent virgins who don't know what sex is, we are a diverse and beautiful community all connected by our disabilities.
(post is edited for terminology, please rb this version instead)
Pretending that your kid isn't disabled and getting mad at them for needing more help and support than your other kids and wanting them to "try harder" and also pretend that THEY aren't disabled by ignoring their OWN needs as well doesn't make them less disabled by the way
youโre not a disability advocate if you make fun of people with incontinence or people that drool or peoples motor functions or people with brain damage or people with low intelligence ๐
Random vent:
I legitimately do not know what is going to happen to me in the future. All I want is to be a firefighter, but two days into emt school and I'm already having a flare up. We went to visit the fire station today, and I nearly passed out just from standing still. I was always such an athletic child, and everyone expected that I would kick ass in this field, yet here I am, struggling to stand. I already knew that I would have a very short, painful career, but now I don't know if I can do it at all.
truer words have never been spoken about DC comics ๏ฟผ
duke: how tf do you know when one of us is doing something vaguely stupid?
dick: itโs my dick tingle
duke: donโt ever say that to me again
dick: :(
Duke: Would you slap your favorite brother for a million dollars?
Damian: Yes.
Tim: Yeah. Sorry, Dick.
Jason: I would slap Dick for free.

How to Finish
I drew this poster for Jon Acuff and his FINISH book tour. Big thanks to Jon for this collaboration, his book has some great ideas about how to complete creative and life goals.
82 YEARS AGO - BATMAN DEBUTED FOR THE FIRST TIME Eighty-two years ago on March 30, 1939, Detective Comics #27 hit newsstands, introducing the Caped Crusader for the very first time in a featured story called โThe Case of the Chemical Syndicate.โ
โAnd for all that fierce exterior, Iโve never met anyone who cared as deeply about his fellow man as Bruce Wayne.โย - Amanda Waller, Justice League Unlimited, Season 2 Episode 13 (2005)
Wait, which series does Miles Morales first appear in? All these different series are so confusing
Calm and impassive caretaker who usually never says anything more reactive than eyebrow raise gripping an offender by the collar and spitting pure venom in their face
Brawny characters who are usually sarcastic and shield-like going completely, entirely dead silent. Grave ashen face. Hopeless eyes
The comic relief team member crying. Eyes that are used to being filled with light tipping tears over the edge onto their cheeks. Helpless, silent, pretending it isn't happening
In that same vein, leader characters sobbing. Harsh and unhesitant heaving crying, every ounce of heartbreak and grief tearing them open
Stoic and serious characters curling up next to a caretaker and allowing themselves the warmth of being comforted. Possibly even falling asleep on their shoulder
Medic caretakers who don't know what to do. Uncertainty barely suits them; their hands are trembling uncontrollably; their words are slurred with how fast they're speaking. Panic in their lungs
i love it when you push a character past their facade. break. them.
My sister @raointean the first time I tagged someone who wasn't her
Dick Grayson did not kill the joker to avenge his little brothers for people to still call him the goody two shoes Robin. Let him be a little deranged. As a treat.
someone send me slightly flirtatious memes I can send to my bitches to let them know im down
Genuine question for people who went to school: how did y'all learn how to read? I've been homeschooled my whole life, never been to school, and everything was taught to me by my parents. In school, is it like a group effort? Did you have reading homework? I genuinely don't know how it works.
