s4 rayla said something about all of them making it out or being safe and just being super worried about everyone’s well being (been a hot minute since i’ve watched s4) and it just sounded — and i thought i read somewhere from another user with a similar theory — like it came from personal experience. and how stella was found alone and she just adopted the lil thing. and for some reason i got thinking…

what if rayla made her first and only 🔪 in those two years?

okay, hear me out

rayla’s venturing through xadia or wherever and she comes across a(n elf?) girl not too much younger than herself. they just kinda run into each other in the wild — elf girl is running from undisclosed reasons and rayla’s is obvious — and elf girl is like “hey! let’s stick together!” and it’s like golden retriever/black cat duo.

but of course, as they journey they become super tight and along the way the elf girl finds stella and is like “LET’S ADOPT HER. I SHALL NAME YOU STELLA.” anyway they’re venturing, something something somethinggg, and then suddenly they’re ambushed by elves hunting down elf girl. elf girl is frantic and like “we gotta go” and rayla is confused/concerned. as the three are fleeing from the elves, an arrow hits elf girl to the point rayla is supporting her as they flee. but the ambushers are closing in and she’s slowing rayla and stella down so elf girl looks at rayla straight in the eyes and says “you need to unal1ve me.”

of course, rayla’s like “fuck no!” but elf girl starts telling her that she’s only slowing them down. the ambushers are after her because she knows too much, is too much — descended from the first ones (but she doesn’t say that) — and it’s better for her to d1e then and there than for the ambushers to find her and do something so much worse. she’s begging her to, forcing her to promise her she’ll go back to that human mage she knows rayla’s absolutely smitten with, promise to take care of stella, promise to end her now before something worse comes for her.

and rayla keeps that promise.

elf girl is bleeding out to death and rayla and stella are gone in the foresty expanse of xadia or whatever. it haunts rayla in the back of her mind, and then at full force in season six when suddenly dots start connecting like stars in a constellation and she’s forced to admit what happened. to callum. to her friends. to the new city of elven folk they encounter up in that new location where the nova blade is (memory is fading i’m sorry).

everything begins to make so much sense now.

continuing from this post, i think i’ve figured out why i ship talisto and i blame it all on holly black: jude duarte and cardan greenbriar are talia and mephisto coded.

lemme try to explain the dynamics.

Jude & Talia

What’s there to say? They’re both badass strategists and natural-born leaders. They will make themselves heard and will not take nor tolerate bullshit. They are both clever with their plans and also don’t trust easily. Their guards are up constantly and they don’t tell their allies/friends everything (ie Jude’s coup and the whole Princess Brenda thing). They have also adapted to the rapid and traumatic changes in their lives — Jude with the murder of her parents and Talia with the fall of Xeris — and of course the adapting to a new world.

Sure, Jude takes things to an extreme by pursuing murder on occasion, but you can’t tell me that Talia wouldn’t do the same in her shoes (albeit with some hesitancy, but none the less will do so as a last resort). These two girls are a force to be reckoned with, and do all the research necessary to make sure they know all the facts and know all the plays to win.

Cardan & Mephisto

I don’t need to explain this. It’s so obvious that Holly went so far as to basically make Mephisto Cardan’s faceclaim.

Cardan and Mephisto are both younger siblings, so they are familiar with the shadow of their older — and better, in the eyes of their father figures or something — siblings. They also both have no shame in being the villain of their stories while also being sorta carefree and charismatic I MEAN LOOK AT THEM!! But they also, deep in the core of their soul, have goodness and love inside, and a strong urge to protect and sacrifice everything for those closest to them (Jude and Praxina respectively). They grow over the duration of their screentime/booktime into lovable and openly more caring characters.

Seriously guys the parallels between them are right fucking there.

Jurdan & Talisto

What else can I say? Enemies-to-lovers is the superior trope and if the Jurdan dynamic — while slightly questionable bc ✨bully romance✨ and just general canonical confusion — doesn’t give you tingles, imagine the applied to Talisto’s already current dynamic. I can already see Talia’s fuming face ready to absolutely destroy Mephisto and his obnoxious, degrading laughter as he walks away in Faerieland during their lessons. I can also see how the turns have tabled with Talia holding a knife to Mephisto’s neck and Talia’s grinning face as she pulls of the greatest coup in history…

I guess what I’m saying is that I would not be opposed to a Talisto Cruel Prince AU because it just makes sense.

my brain: claire has had at least AN awareness of morgana since "roaming fees may apply" when she turns around before entering trollmarket and looks around the canal and she's like "i thought i felt something" when she's asked if she's alright and then we pan to angor rot hiding on the bridge looking at them - keep in mind this is BEFORE team trollhunter knows of angor's existence - then when claire ends up getting the shadow staff from angor rot in the shadow realm it literally GLOWS IN HER HANDS AND YOINKS HER OUT OF THE SHADOW REALM LIKE IT BELONGED TO HER OR SOME SHIT????? AND THEN SHE MASTERS IT IN LIKE A WEEK??????? and let's not forget the infamous power portal she conjures in the season 2 finale bc i'm sorry but the power of friendship and sheer willpower alone could not have been what lets her survive that shit ton of magic. also: she's getting flashes of memories when morgana took over her to remove the protective sigils in early season 3??? when it's implied morgana has full control over her body when she's asleep???? and then girl full on expels the KEY TO CAMELOT'S DOWNFALL from her body in A SINGLE NIGHT (her friends bring her spirit back yes but still the power is hers) and reclaims the shadow staff with a GLYPH CIRCLE????? and in the final battle we get a solid ten seconds of claire and morgana ALONE in the SHADOW REALM and we have NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING DOWN IN THERE--
