I forgot how much I loved this art, I just want to keep it where I'll be able to find it
Sorry for such a long post, but - I sketched up my interpretations/headcanons of the (human [alive]) Straw Hats’ body types and had a lot of fun with it!
EXACTLYYYY
I feel like a lot of people really want/wanted Kuina to be Tashigi because they can't accept that all the potential she had was ruined because she had a tragic accident.
What makes Zoro's backstory sad isn't so much the scale of destruction, like on Robin's, but rather how down to Earth it is, as Kuina tripped, fell and probably broke her neck in a bad landing. It's that simple, and it serves as a good contrast to the larger scale backstories.
Today I was showing my nephew the second episode of OPLA with Usopp, and we've got to the scene when Zoro was trying to get out of the well, while thinking about Kuina. My nephew complained about how in anime Kuina died in an accident which he found lame, and I started to think about it deeper.
I came to conclusion that Kuina's fairly normal death via tripping accident is meant to be doubly tragic. She didn't just die young in a stupid, easily avoidable accident, while having such grand plans as becoming the greatest warrior ever; she didn't even die in combat. All of this happens some time after Zoro and Kuina promised each other that one of them will become The Greatest Swordsman in the World, so Kuina's ordinary accident feels like a cruel twist of fate. She didn't even die a warrior's death; she just tripped.
You know the One Piece brainrot is bad when you see a wanted poster for Feathers McGraw in the new Wallace and Gromit and think it's a reference 💀

I SWEAR I JUST HEARD THE WILHEIM SCREAM IN THE ONE PIECE LIVE ACTION AT LIKE 15 MINUTES INTO THE BARATIE EPISODE SOMEONE TELL ME I'M LYING
Chewing and gnawing on the irony One Piece continually shows with the main characters where they're doing objectively kind and helpful things and that's what gets them in trouble with the law. It's the selective application of criminal justice. The bias and room for corruption built into the system itself. It's delicious. It's horribly relevant. I'm obsessed.
repeat it with me :
ROMANCE-AVERSE AND ROMANCE-REPULSED AROMANTICS ARE NOT BAD PEOPLE BECAUSE OF THEIR AVERSION/REPULSION!
ROMANCE-INDIFFERENT AROMANTICS ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO CARE ABOUT ROMANCE!
ROMANCE-FAVOURABLE AND ROMANCE-AMBIVALENT AROMANTICS ARE NOT LESS AROMANTIC FOR ENJOYING ROMANCE IN SOME WAYS!
FEMALE AROMANTICS ARE NOT 'QUIRKY' PICK-MES OR OLD MAIDS!
MALE AROMANTICS ARE NOT INCELS OR MISOGYNISTS!
NON-BINARY AROMANTICS ARE VALID AND SHOULD BE SUPORTED AND ARE NOT FADDISH!
ALLOSEXUAL AROMANTICS ARE NOT WHORES OR PROSTITUTES FOR HAVING SEXUAL ATTRACTION AND NOT ROMANTIC ATTRACTION!
ASEXUAL AROMANTICS ARE NOT INCOMPLETE OR MISSING SOMETHING!
AROMANTICS DON'T OWE YOU A RELATIONSHIP!
AROMANTICS DON'T OWE YOU LOVE OF ANY KIND!
After we learnt that there were ~25 people who left Wano with Kozaburo, but that only ~10 people stayed in Shimotsuki Village, I always imagined that Tashigi might be decended from the remaining 15.
I still like to think that Shimotsuki Kozaburo, Shimotsuki Furiko and someone else (who didn't stay in Shimotsuki Village) may have been cousins, later having children and grandchildren who would end up being third cousins- the grandchildren being Zoro, Kuina and Tashigi.
I feel like it would make sense for Tashigi to look similar to Kuina for this reason. We still don't know if Tashigi has a last name, and it is possible that she could be a Shimotsuki considering her connection to swordsmanship.
It’s been almost 20 years and i’m still wondering why Tashigi and Kuina are so look alike and this fact is remarked every time. I think most of us agree that they’re not the same person, but there must be a reason why they look so similar and at this point in the story it continues to be highlighted every time she and Zoro meet. I mean...what's the point? Is it supposed to have any relevance? Or is it just used as another gag?
She/her (Although I don't really care tbh) I'm also aromantic and cisgender.
