another anti-lgbt bill is to be considered by the polish parliament (and i really need you to care about this)

yesterday, a pro-life and anti-lgbt right-wing activist kaja godek has submitted yet another draft legislative proposal to the polish parliament (i say another because one has already been submitted but it got rejected in january 2021). the bill is called stop lgbt and it's been signed by over one hundred and fourty thousand people and approved by twenty catholic parishes. essentially, if the bill gets accepted, pride parades will be forbidden, so will be the promotion of same-sex marriages, domestic partnerships, lgbt adoption, any non-straight sexual orientations and non-cis gender identities (so basically just speaking about any of those in a positive manner).

now. whether or not this bill has a chance of getting accepted is most definitely unsure. you have to keep in mind that poland is a very homophobic and transphobic country and acts of violence against the lgbt community happen here often. anyone who thinks that a law like that has no chance of being approved needs to recall what happened in october 2020 (despite many protests the abortion ban bill was accepted and now women are forced to give birth to damaged or dead fetuses instead of getting an abortion) or the fact that a very homophobic and misogynistic man continues to be the minister of national education despite being one of the most despised people in poland's goverment. one thing is for sure - this bill can and will be a very serious threat to polish queer people's safety and you need to care about that. we all saw what happened in hungary, please don't let it happen here. it's inhumane that something like this is happening in this day and age. please spread the word and reblog this post if you can.
