The current state of affairs.
The service life of a littoral ship was suppose to be 25 years. The USS Freedom (LCS 1) had the longest career with 12 years. The USS Independence (LCS 2) had an 11 year career and the USS Coronado (LCS 4) an 8 year career. What a waste.
The littoral combat ships USS Independence (LCS 2), left, and USS Coronado (LCS 4) are underway in the Pacific Ocean.
