Day 1:

I played Our Wonderland back around February.

A good friend of mine and I were talking about the topic of visual novels recommend that I should play Our Wonderland. They introduced me to some of the characters and I shrugged and said, "I'll play it one day" since I was already busy with my electives and other subjects.

Unfortunately, I got sick for three/two?? weeks which sucks. I felt worse each day that it got to one point that I felt crippled in bed. (Sorry. Bad joke 😅)

Due to me not being able to sleep sometimes, I would play on my phone. However, my phone was dead one night so I played on my laptop. Most of the games I downloaded felt lame and that's when I tried Our Wonderland.

When I first played it I was like;

"alright, after the first playthrough, I'll go to sleep."

Which was when I started playing Arc 1. My fucking god. It was the best experience of my life. I already posted a whole ass rant about how the first ARC already put me into tears and emotional turmoil and how I felt so stupid that it was just the ending of ONE SINGULAR ARC.

And now for the 2nd part of my anniversary celebration... 30 Days of Our Wonderland! A set of silly and/or thought-provoking prompts about the game and chars for a full month of OW!

Who the fuck is Walt Disney?

In the new episode (21), Orlam had mentioned a new character, named Walt. However, Genzou did not seem pleased to hear that this character.

Sit back, grab your blankets while I give out my stupidous (yes, this word is real in my dictionary) observants on who this Walt character is.

1 ) Walt is a character that has a likelihood for easy targets.

Orlam had pointed how Walt has a likelihood for easy targets' (like Iggy) and is more intolerable than before due to something happening at the mining outpost he was assigned to. I wonder what habits Walt has for 'easy targets' and if he's a guy who's seeking out for attention whatsoever. I also wonder how this Walt character will interact when meeting Iggy.

Would he be flirtatious? Would he try to rise a reaction out of Genzou? Or, would he be quite a bastard to Iggy? We may never know.

2 ) Beef between Genzou and Walt.

It seemed that before Walt had left town, he and Genzou had gotten into an argument or a fight, per say. It seems that Genzou might have a deeper history with this new character. I can't really explain how I think the two have history but it's what Orlam said in this panel;

Plus, Orlam had said earlier on in another panel that he had came to Genzou's Ranch to warn him about Walt's return to Salt Lick. Could it be that Walt used to be an old friend to Genzou? Or maybe a tinge bit more?

3 ) Walt has issues???

It seems that Walt had been embarrassed after (and please forgive me if I get this wrong) he had failed to supervise the mining outpost that his father had sent him to. What I'm quite curious about is why would Walts father sent him to a mining post in the first place? Did Walt go willingly, to show his father that he can do something right? Or was he forced to? Honestly, I'm VERY curious on why his father had sent him away. May time tell. Or whatever the saying is T_T.

4 ) Is Walt a reincarnated version of Walt Disney-

Anywhizzle! This is just a small bitsy theory I have about this mentioned character! I hope we can see Walt very soon and see what's his relationship with Genzou is like now! :3

I am still surprised that I played Our Wonderland for free..

Like, before I even downloaded Our Wonderland, I was like; 'ah, a Queer visual novel with problematic 30 year Olds going into Wonderland? Sounds interesting enough. This would be a piece of cake-"

Bro, Our Wonderland touched yet beat up my heart like there's no fucking tomorrow. I HAVEN'T EVEN CRIED AT A VISUAL NOVEL (only internally BUT NOT OUTSIDE) UNTIL PLAYING OUR WONDERLAND.

Like the characters!?!??!?!? The plot!?!? The humour- 🫶👌- THE ANGST!?!? AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE ENDING. LIKE I WAS FUCKING BAWLING MY EYES OUT WHEN IGGY WISHED HE NEVER EXISTED. I'M LIKE; "WAIT, WHAT, NO, NO, NO," until I saw that it wasn't actually the end of the game- just the arc.

BUT GOD FUCKING DAMN IT. THE ENDINGS AT EACH ARC WAS LIKE KNIVES STABBING INTO MY HEART-

And when I finally finished Our Wonderland. I slowly laid back down on my bed and cried both tears of joy and sadness-

Like, I played that visual FOR FREE. WTF.

Also, when first playing it, I thought Cecil was like an alternate emo version of Iggy-

Anywhizzle, that's all of my yapping.

How To Make Your First Visual Novel

I'm yet again in a talkative mood, and as someone who has made/helped make over ten visual novels, I figured I would be Qualified™ to talk about it!

Step One: Pick Your Fighter... er... Engine!

Deciding the game engine you want to work in is the first step to having a game! Ren'Py is the most popular, free-to-use engine for visual novels, with tons of add-ons done by creators such as Devil Spiδεr and Feniks. Other commonly-used engines include Naninovel (an extension to Unity) and RPG Maker.

Step Two: Wait, What Goes In The Engine?

Whodathunk that for a visual novel, you need a story and visuals!

Clip Studio Paint has a series on making visual novel sprites, though any old art software works for making visual novel art. As for writing, I highly recommend Better Fountain, an extension to Visual Studio Code which enables to you to write in Fountain syntax. For music, I recommend Audiostock which gives access to hundreds of thousands of songs with their subscription service.

Step Three: But What Do I Do With All Of This?

Spoilers, your first visual novel... probably won't be your best. You have to make it to break the first timer's curse. Study your favorite visual novels, listen to other developers' processes, learn more about art/writing/music/etc., and remember that it doesn't have to be perfect. In a year of making visual novels, my work went from the left image, to the right:

You can do it too! Now go out there, and make visual novels!

Day 10; If you had unlimited resources, what side game would you make?

Hm. Very good question. If I somehow had unlimited resources, I would make a side game about the alternative ending of OW or a side game focusing around Jerry, like his own perspective of the cast.

The alternative ending of OW. Honestly, Idk how that'll work as a side game. Most likely would just base around if Iggy didn't make his choice, or if he wanted to do it right this Time, restarting the cycle. I often think of what'll happen if Iggy didn't make the right choice, if he chose to restart the cycle all over again. Would he remember that he made that choice or would he not?

I honestly would love a Jerry side game, to see through his perspective on Wonderlan

Another idea if I had unlimited resources, I'd probably make another crossover side game. Since DD2 x OW was so fantastic (that I literally had to search up the gameplay and wishing that I have it-), I want to make a small crossover of OW x The Witcher. The Witcher is a TV series/Game, about a Witcher, Geralt, a mutated man trying to find his place in the world in which often made the people think it's more wicked than the beasts. The Witcher is a Mediaeval (dark?) fantasy series which I quite enjoy. I already have a few roles, which I think Genzou would fit perfectly as The Witcher and Iggy as a trainee wizard. (I have so much angst idea-).

Day 27: Songs associating with OW.

HMMMMM.
